I'm giving it 3 stars as I'm not such a huge fan of already premade and prepackaged food to buy. It feels more like a place to pick up sth for takeaway not a restaurant to sit down and eat. They currently have aabout 10 tables outside to sit. But the food will still be in plastic packaging.
Read moreI got the big minestrone which came with some grain instead of pasta. It was a decent portion for 5.50 euro considering all the other expensive things they sell. It was filling with veggies, some grain and beans but it could have done with more salt.
I also got the vegan creme cake. Apparently it's traditional Slovenian but we have it in Switzerland too (same name). Big portion but still 5.90 euro. The taste is okay if not a little too bland. Could have done with more sugar.
Staff was nice to me. Menu exists in English. Prices super high.

Barbarella offer a good selection of bowl, daily dishes and cakes. The place is small with only two tables inside and a good outside space on the summer months.

Quality can vary on the daily dishes, most of the time it's great. I would not recommand their Kamut bread.

Food is all vegan, English menu available on request. I opted for the quiche and salad. The best vegan quiche I’ve ever had. So much so that I want to buy their cookbook which has the recipe! The filling was lovely, light and creamy, not dry and heavy like so many other vegan quiches I’ve had before. The buckwheat pastry was perfect. The salad was fresh and the basil dressing really flavoursome and not greasy. I also took away a Caesar salad for later that day, I think this would probably be best eaten when buying it or very shortly after as the moisture from the salad made the croutons go soggy. Lots of healthy options here from salads, sandwiches, smoothies and smoothie bowls. Great place for breakfast or lunch. A few seats inside but more seating outside on the pavement. Most people taking away however and it was very busy and popular. 100% will return when back in Ljubljana and I’ll be picking that cookbook up too!

Read moreThe food looks tasty in the photos, but less so in their packaging. I ordered a quinoa salad with carrot dressing for around €10. A lot of the salads would be easy to make from home. While moderately filling, there wasn’t much flavor even with the sauce. I also picked up a German chocolate cake and chickpea tart they had recommended. The tart was dry and the cake’s filling had a processed texture and taste. None of the food was bad, but given the high price, the food was disappointing.

Barbarella is a small bistro in the center of Ljubljana. I didn't find the atmosphere as loving as it looks in the pictures. My salad was fresh but didn't come with much dressing. For the fact that it is self-service and the salad was rather small, I found the price too high.

Barbarella Juicebar has a few seats only and - at least in mid-April - there was no outdoor seating, so it´s rather designed for take-out. Most food is pre-packaged, like the salads and the salad dressings, even if you eat them on the spot. It´s also a bit of a shame it´s all single-use packaging. I had the protein salad, which was arranged like a bowl and came with quinoa, avocado, beans, chickpeas, broccoli, lettuce, and a hint of carrot. I quite liked being able to choose my dressing. It tasted really good even though I would have liked to have a bit more dressing and warm quinoa, chickpeas, and beans. I couldn‘t resist having a home-made Twix bar, which tasted like caramel and chocolate heaven and was definitely worth its (high) price (€3.90!) The service was OK.

My favorite cafe in the city - Edit
I always come here for coffe, dessert or a quick lunch. Everything is vegan and all the dishes are full of color and flavor. Personally I'm very picky with desserts, so I don't like all of them but I'm a big fan of the espresso cake!!

I only wish it was a bit cheaper because I can't afford to come here every day. But well... it's in the center and the quality is good, so at least you know what you're paying for.
Btw I just noticed the description says they have cow milk for coffee which is not true. There is only plant based milk available.

Love this place, love their regular salads and the food from their daily offers is always tasty as well (especially the taco bowl).

They always have some type of savory pie on their menu and most of them are delicious. It is served with a salad but the portion is on the small side.
Nothing is cheap but most dishes are 7-9€.
Takeout comes in eco friendly packaging but the lid is plastic.
Most dishes seem very healthy, the ingredients are fresh and natural.
They also have many juices and many vegan desserts including vegan cheesecake, brownies and cakes (selection varies every day).
Good location, they have tables outside but very few indoors, and the space is quite small.

We went there twice for breakfast and we took a takeaway lunch. The food there tasted good, the selection was very big. Unfortunately they didn't have the avo toast, although it was on the menu. I really reccomend the vegan quiche!

We had smoothies and spinach tofu pies. The pies were very delicious, the terrace is small but in the heart of the city. It's a little bit pricey maybe, but plus is that vegans can have a healthy and delicious meal to go/brunch in the center.

Their best dish in my opinion is the curry: served with rice, chickpeas, broccoli and cauliflower, it is absolutely delicious. The only downside is that it is usually only served on Fridays. It is also a tad bit expensive - 9€ (but totally worth it, honestly).

I had a chance to try them at the food market on Friday and their burger was amazing. Even my nonvegan parents liked it . However the mango cheesecake wasn't the best the strawberry cheesecake was really good.
