Nice local restaurant!

This restaurant is a hole in the wall. I went here on a date, and we were the only customers for the 1 1/2 we were there. The meal was delicious, and the woman who owns the restaurant is very respectful of vegans. She promised me that vegan and non-vegan food never touch each other when they cook. The plantains are great. The menu is small, so I won't eat here all the time.

love love!

Love love Baku's! They know what vegan is, and they will tell you what's vegan. I've had their jasmine (safron?) yellow rice with black-eyed peas and vegetables dish... sooo good. The fried plantains are really good too, even though I'm not much of a plantains gal. Only downside is that I have a hard time catching them open -- they have "normal" business hours, not a late night place. Staff is sooo super friendly and cute. A family runs it including the kids.

Pros: MAzing, super friendly

Cons: hours, small (one loud person ruins whole place

Great Food! Great Staff!

Baku is a welcomed surprise. From the moment you walk in the counter person welcomes you as if you were coming into their home. Once you taste the food, you then see why--it gives you that homecooked feeling. Sure there are many non-veg items, perhaps more than half the menu, but if you stick to the rice, black-eyed peas, and greens, you will leave incredibly satiated.

Pros: Intriguing flavors and spices, VERY nice & patient people, Reasonably priced

Cons: Sometimes they run out of items, Sometimes certain items taste dry
