Incredible vegan italian food by celebrity chef! - Edit
I've tried so many things here. It's all so good. The supreme pizza was a favorite between my roommates. I liked the pasta with chicken of the wood mushrooms. Their appetizers are good too. You really can't go wrong with Matthew Kenney's food. They used to also serve vegan sushi from the same kitchen for a few months which was interesting.

The garlic knots and the mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce were amazing. We had two pasta dishes that were amazing. We had the torta for dessert. Excellent service and food.

I'm impressed - Edit
All vegan delicious restaurant with friendly service and great atmosphere. I didn't feel like the portions were small. Yeah, it's not cheap, but I think you get awesome value for what you pay for. I wish there were more places like that!!!

All vegan - Edit
The fact there’s an upscale all vegan Italian restaurant is amazing . The people that compliant suck at life . How much more of portion do you need ? Have you had better mozzarella sticks ? Absolutely not . Took my home girl out to celebrate her new job . It was great . I don’t thinks I’ve had mozzarella sticks since being vegan & now being gf is even harder and these were amazing . Light abs crispy . Salad was absolutely delicious, loved all the veggies mixed in . Went with the pizza & easily makes it to the top 5 of the Bay Area . Of course we had dessert and the torta was a perfect ending . So

Great food, tiny portions - Edit
Tried the arancini, sausage pizza, and farfalle. Everything was delicious but the pasta was the star for me! That mint pesto was incredible. As others have mentioned, the portions are quite small for the price- I probably could have eaten 3x the amount of pasta I was served as an entree.

Nice dinner - Edit
Baia has been on my radar before it opened They have been torturing me with posting their pictures on social media of yummy looking food. We are 40 miles away so eating in car or waiting to get home to eat was not going to work.
Read moreToday was their first day of outdoor service.
Booked 6 pm dinner. We arrived and were promptly seated. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
All tables were COVID spaced out too. A scannable menu & hand sanitizer on table.
We started with Arancini. I think it was a rice ball with a crispy outside served with pomodoro sauce.
Caesar salad, fresh lettuce, Parmesan cheese and crunchy croutons. One of the better Caesar I've had.
Lasagne was great! Super filling. We had them split in half before bringing to table and set to go.
Pappardelle was tasty. I like the noodles were a little Al dente. Little heavy on the salt tho.
Torta and spumoni was yummy.
All the food we had was well thought out and nice presentation.
Nice when you can go to a restaurant and order food and not have to ask if it's vegan.

Partially impressed - Edit
My omni SO had been hearing me talk about BAIA for months, and we finally went on my birthday to get fancy take-out. He asked the staff for recommendations, and we ended up with a feast: mozzarella sticks, antipasti salad, spicy sausage pizza, lasagna, and torta. We also had a couple of beers on the doorstep while we waited for our order. I’m glad they asked us whether we needed utensils rather than automatically supplying them: we were riding our bikes home before enjoying the food, so we didn’t need any.
Read moreThe food was plated quite well for take-out, and it was still warm when we got home. The pizza was fantastic: I loved the crust, and the sausage was spot on. The mozzarella sticks were okay but not stretchy, and we could have used more marinara sauce. The antipasti was basically a salad with beets and cauliflower. The lasagna was hearty. And the torta was rich. We would definitely go back for the pizza and lasagna, and I’d also want to try their pasta. I could leave the rest.
The prices are high for the portion sizes, but I suppose there are not a lot of choices for vegan versions of Italian classics in SF. Good for a special occasion but not as an everyday restaurant.
Pros: great pizza and lasagna, friendly staff
Cons: pricey for portion size, some dishes could use improvement

Excellent Italian Food! - Edit
An all Italian vegan restaurant has finally come to SF! While Italian cuisine may not normally be my go-to, I’ve learned that I’m a big fan when it’s done right. And fortunately, BAIA has things down!
Read moreI’d been eager to try BAIA ever since I first heard about their planned opening (many months ago when the restaurant they replaced closed). With the pandemic coming into play, I was worried that they might not open at all. But miraculously they set a target date of early August for take out/delivery orders.
For a brand new restaurant on their opening weekend, the service was shockingly smooth. They are available through most of the delivery apps but I opted to pick up in person. When I arrived, they had a table up front between their doors and the upcoming orders behind them. You could spy the beautiful decor as well, which makes me so excited to eat there in-person (once that’s a thing again.)
When I got home by bike, the food was still pretty warm (which means it hadn’t been sitting out for a while) and also wasn’t a mess in the containers (often the case when the plating isn’t well thought out for take out.) And the food, well it was fantastic. We ordered a sausage pizza, Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, and garlic knots. While the portions for most of the food were a bit on the small side, the combined selection was a good amount for two people to share. We were particularly impressed by the Caesar salad (not all vegan caesars are created equally!) and of course excited to have vegan mozzarella sticks, which are bizarrely hard to find in the Bay Area.
Super excited to order from BAIA again, try some other items, and eventually get to dine out at their restaurant!
Pros: Classic Italian flavors, High quality
Cons: Expensive, Small portions

Best meal in SF - Edit
This was the most delicious meal we’ve had in San Francisco. The lasagne and Caesar salad are especially delicious. We’re so excited to have such an amazing new veg spot in SF!

Nice but pricey - Edit
Fancy, clearly homemade pasta, with lovely sauces—the Bolognese is a standout. However, portions are small and it ain’t cheap. We were less impressed with the cacio e pepe and the mozzarella sticks. The torta is a nice chocolate pudding but like, so what?

Finally in SF!! - Edit
This is MK’s first restaurant in the Bay Area and it has not disappointed! Tried the lasagna and chocolate torta, both were delicious.
Read moreIt can be hard to find traditional Italian dishes that do not contain animal products, so super happy to have a fully vegan version close to home.
Pros: Full vegan menu , Delicious
Cons: Expensive
