yum

Had appetizers and dessert only - a mezze plate, tempeh, and a chocolate pie. All were great. Would love to try more of the menu in the future.

First time, not last.

Food and service is excellent. I like the low key dinner setting. You dont feel like youre paying for the overhead of trendy setting common to vegan restos. Dont hesitate if you're in the area.

Cons: Pricy, but all vegan places are. Here at least you

Favourite Vegan Resto

Whether it's dining in or delivery, it's always good! I haven't had one thing that I didn't like from here. Large portions for a reasonable price. Their brunch on the weekends is highly recommended.

Pros: Local tempeh

superb

Exceptionally good food and very pleasant professional service. Decor and cabin style seating a bit drab, but all is compensated by truly lovingly prepared dishes. Pate selection aux vivres mezze on a starter menu is a "must" (tofu pate especially), burgers were to die for and Mumbai tali plate was just excellent. exceeded expectations for sure!

Pros: food- top class, creative and delicious, great knowledgeable service

Cons: seating and decor-drab and manky

It's about the Buddah Bowl

I spent two days in town seemingly not eating any vegetables (which is totally possible for a vegan these days!!) I felt like something healthy and their Buddah Bowl was it. And it was perfect. I'd go again. Also had the interesting chocolate apple cake. Good chocolate cake, though perhaps more apples would equal a more interesting experience?? Friendly staff, popular place. Reminds me of Fresh in Toronto.

Pros: Good selection

Cons: A bit over my price range

Happy Mother's Day

We had a great time on Mother's Day!
Services were excellent and the food was delicious. My husband and my brother-in-law had the Dragon Bowls, my mother in law, a dear aunt of ours and my little brother had tempeh Burgers, my father in law had the Mumbai Thali, my dearest mother and myself shared a Salad and a Dragon Sandwich. The important thing is WE ALL ENJOYED IT!! No leftovers! Also now with Open Table, reservation ahead of time for large group is so easy!

Excellent

Pros: good proportion, excellent food, friendly staff

True gem

A couple of years ago my wife and I went to Aux Vivres. We loved back then when it was still small. We loved even more now, gladly surprised the place is much bigger and it was packed on Saturday at lunch, a testimony of its quality. Prices are reasonable, food was excellent. We had the "la polenta" and the "le complet", both very tasty and fulfilling.
In addition, their store adjacent to the restaurant offers vegan products including their delicious desserts and sauces. Highly recommended.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Reasonably priced

Highly recommended overall.

Worth a visit

Our lunch here exceeded my expectations. We ordered the malai kofta and tempeh satay for apps, and the chili fries and a Mekong sandwich for mains. Menu not all that special overall but food was well seasoned and prepared. Serving sizes turned out to be much bigger than we thought and we left stuffed!

Pros: great food, generous portions

Wonderful menu and service

We had to wait for a table at lunchtime due to the popularity of this restaurant. Once inside, we quickly learned why! They have a large menu of soups, smoothies, juices, salads, sandwiches, wraps, bowls and more. We each ordered one of the bowls which were very generous and delicious. All of the desserts looked fabulous. We shared the key lime pie and thought it was great.

Pros: Large menu, nice atmosphere, friendly and efficien

Cons: No complaints here!

The menu will boost your vegan optimism

Honestly, it'll take you 15 minutes just to read through the Aux Vivres menu because you'll keep pausing to reflect on the glorious fact that everything is vegan. There's a reason everyone recommends the dragon bowl - it's damn good - but give other menu items a try on your second and third visits. Bring your non-vegetarian friends along as well... they'll want to come back.

Pros: Dragon sauce

The best

I've been a regular for many years. I've tried everything on the menu and liked or loved most of it. This is probably the best vegan restaurant in Montreal (maybe in Quebec). The staff is friendly, the food is great, the prices are fair, the portions are generous, etc.

However, I'll say that over the years, as the venue got bigger and bigger, it also got louder and crowdier. The music is super loud, which I don't get. The restaurant is always full of people, which makes it rowdy already, and the music only makes everyone have to talk louder. We can't hear each other at all. Please ditch the music, AV!

Also, while I love the option to buy prepackaged foods from Aux Vivres, some of them seem overpriced; like you get *a lot* more food for less $ on the restaurant side.

So, those are some things to improve on, but AV is still a great place. Hopefully they can branch out someday so that it becomes less crowded.

Pros: Delicious food, Fair pricing (in restaurant), Daily(?) specials

Cons: Crowded, noisy!, Overpriced shop items, Loud music!

I liked it!

The food tasted good and the service was not bad either. There were a lot of people though so a bit loud and we didn't like the atmosphere but over all great place for lunch or for take out rather than romantic dinner.

Pros: good food, good service

Cons: loud

Not amazing, but really good!

Really good food, not mind blowing but solidly good vegan food. On the servers suggestion I ordered the Dragon Wrap, really fresh sauce was good little bland, but def tasty. Wife ordered a Buddha bowl, she really liked it. The Greek Mezze app we ordered was really good. Desserts - Key Lime Pie - I didn't care for it needed to be creamier. Wife had the Uncheescake that was really good. Overall really good fresh vegan food. Would def go again. We returned for brunch, and tofu scrambles were amazing best I've had. Pancakes were I little hearty for my taste, but still really good.

Pros: Brunch, Cheesecake, Fresh ingredients

Cons: Service was slow, but waiters were very helpful

Stick to popular choices

Aux Vivres is great, but you should stick to their popular dishes - i.e. veggie bowls, veggie burgers. Every time I've veered from their classics I was disappointed. All of their desserts I've tried are spectacular, though.

Pros: Solid veggie bowls + veggie burgers, Amazing desserts

Cons: Less popular menu items are mediocre, Slightly overrated

Funky and Fun Experience

We were so pleased to discover this restaurant open quite late at night, we arrived around 9:45 pm. There were so many options on the menu it was difficult to decide! There were several kinds of smoothies so my daughter had and orange creamsicle which she really enjoyed. We started with the chili to start and it was so delicious. It was garnished so beautifully, with tortilla chips, faux sour cream and guacamole YUM! For the main course I finally decided on a Thai Bowl, it was beautiful but I did not enjoy it at all. It had a very strong flavour of lemongrass that I was not expecting. My server was very intuitive, when she came to check on our meal she didn't even ask, she could tell I was not enjoying it and she was very apologetic and said she could not let me go away without being satisfied. We discussed replacing it with something else but in the end I decided I wanted to move on to dessert...she said "no problem" and promised to remove the cost of the Thai Bowl from the bill, and she did. For dessert we had the special for Valentine's Day which was a Chipotle Brownie with Vanilla Coconut Ice Cream...OMG: To Die For! It wasn't even that pretty.... but wow, it had the perfect balance of semi-sweet chocolate and hot chile flavours. The brownie would have been incredible on its own, but the smooth, sweet delicate scoop of vanilla coconut ice cream made it 'out of this world', I would go back to Montreal for this dessert alone! We also had the Choco-Banane Tart, it was also very good. It had a rich and smooth chocolate cream filling with fresh banana flavour. If you are in Montreal I would highly recommend this restaurant. My only complaint is that the food here is so good it attracts carnists and you have to eat your vegan meal sitting next to people wearing fur...there are establishments that don't allow casual attire, vegan restaurants shouldn't allow fur!

Pros: Variety, Customer Service, Open Late

Cons: Dessert is too good, customers wearing fur
