Big portion, delicious, healthy options - Edit
I had the BLT sandwich and added wedges, it was so filling that I ended up needing to take a doggie bag. The menu has lots of healthy options - bowls, salads, and sandwiches.

Delicious Giant Wraps - Edit
We ordered the Dragon and Gyro Wraps for lunch and they were absolute monsters! We only ate half so we could fit dessert. The Dragon sauce is to die for and the Gyro wrap was delicious as well. The desserts weren't anything too special but still really good.

Excellent! - Edit
Terrific, diverse menu! Got four items for each of us to taste and share, we all fought over the crispy mushroom burger. The bowl, we got the latke one, was so incredibly fresh and colorful, it was delicious and gorgeous! The berry cheesecake was so yummy, and the mango lassi the best I’ve had since going vegan six years ago. The attached little shop had some really fun, different snacks and juices, as well as lots of Takeaway entrées and cakes. His service was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Just a great experience all around.

Bland, please add more personality - Edit
I'm disappointed after seeing the overwhelming amount of positive reviews and how this was the first vegan restaurant in Montreal.
Read moreThere is a VAST array of dishes from across the world - okonomiyaki from Japan, dahl from India, Mexican burritos, just to name a few. There are also about 6 cakes and tarts, so everyone should be able to find something tempting, and gluten-free options are also clearly indicated.
The issue is that they are bland and unoriginal. We had a burrito and a okonomiyaki and the flavours were barely there. It also felt like especially the okonomiyaki was off - it seems to be optimised for a burger patty rather than the fishy profile it has in Japan and I've definitely seen it done better (try the ramen restaurant Umami in Little Italy instead). It's earthy and well-done, and lacks the tones, finesse, and blend of umami and freshness of the inspiration.
The desserts were better, tasty, and good creamy textures on the cake and tart fillings (we tried the chocolate-peanut butter cake and the chocolate-banana tart) but nothing groundbreaking, maybe a 4/5. If I'm coming back to try something it'll be the carrot cake!
The look of the venue is 80s/90s dinner, with brown leather benches. I would highly recommend that they modernise the look of the place and also their dishes - please add more personality to them!
Pros: Vast selection, Gluten-free options labelled, Healthy and nutritious
Cons: Bland flavours, Outdated decor, Dishes feel 'for the masses' rather than authentic

You need to go here! Best vegan food in MTL - Edit
We tried Aux Vivres because a lot of other places were already reserved or closed on Monday, so we're grateful that this spot was open until 10 PM. We were completely blown away with every bite. I brought a non-vegan with me and both of us agree that it's some of the best food we've had in our lives. The flavors are so alive and harmonize very well together in every dish. First we tried the Bombay Banana smoothie which has dates, ginger, and masala in it. The spices go well in the drink and I've never had anything like it before. I highly recommend trying this one out. Followed by the cornbread served with veggie butter and guacamole, the veggie butter was a unique flavor, and the spicing of the cornbread was flawless. Couldn't get enough of the Malai Kofta Thali too! I recommend skipping out on the burgers here and going for their more signature dishes. I tried the Spicy Buffalo Burger with tempeh and it was only average compared to everything else, but the bar is really high. The second time I came here I got the dragon bowl with tofu, a flavorful and healthy option. The carrot cake is really good to finish things off.

Super restaurant avec des options intéressantes! J'ai adoré mon repas. Les breuvages sont un peu chers par contre. Je souhaiterait qu'il y ait plus d'options à base de seitan et moins à base de tempeh!

This was the first vegan restaurant to open in Montreal. Open since 1997. It’s wholesome, hearty vegan food. The BLT sandwich is delicious, so are most things on the menu.

A classic in Montreal. I love the dragon bowl or buddha bowl. The wraps are also really good, especially the vegé pâté one. The sauces and tempeh are very good. I often buy them to cook at home, as they are available in many grocery stores.

Huge portions of great food - Edit
My mum and I both got the Mumbai Bowl for takeout, which consists of organic brown rice, chickpea & potato curry, pakoras (fried spiced chickpea balls), paratha (puffed Indian bread with veggie butter), mint & tamarind chutneys, and carrot. The food was flavorful and hearty, and the serving size was huge - enough to make a voracious eater like me feel full for hours! Definitely recommend this dish if you go to Aux Vivres. Service is friendly and price is reasonable, especially for such a large serving.

Delicious juices! - Edit
I went here for the first time because it was rated as the best vegan restaurant in Montreal and there, I learned it was the first ever in Montreal.
Read moreBeing the first vegan restaurant in Montreal I expected more original food, but is the normal choices for a vegan restaurant: Bols, sandwiches, burgers, etc.
I was a little disappointed there, I wanted to try a very original vegan food.
I ordered a Buddha bol which had too much rice and it could have had more variety of vegetables and more sauce, my husband had a different bol, his sauce was better.
Our non-vegan friend had the tempeh burger, when he finished, he said he loved it!!😄
that was a surprise, a great surprise.
The thing that I enjoyed a lot was the juice, I ordered the one with orange, carrots, dates and other things, it was so delicious, I loved that juice!
Pros: Delicious juices, big bols
