Serves meat, vegan options available. A semi-upscale, healthier food restaurant in Bucharest's Old Town. The menu has a number of vegetarian and vegan items, and staff is able to answer questions about ingredients. The size of the dishes vary, so ask. The interior has some doors salvaged from abandoned buildings in the area. Open Mon-Sun 12:00-00:00.

In the middle of party central - Edit
Very friendly staff. Located in the total middle of big city party central. 8 mins f/ subway stop 'university' (subway line M2). Fresh, nice food. Electronic menus (!), all veg*n options quite clearly labelled. Restaurant surrounded by unreal architecture mix of communist and old-fashioned buildings, very loud bars, etc..

Divine food - Edit
I visited Aubergine having read the excellent reviews of other Happy Cow members. It lived up to expectations. The aubergine (eggplant) dish I had was beautifully presented and delicious. The side salad had a very nice dressing of oil, sesame seeds and lemon juice (I think!). Aubergine is a lovely restaurant in a very nice part of the old town. Very easy to get to. I plan to work my way through their excellent menu during my stay here. I'd have given them 5 starts but the app only allows this for "Veg friendly" restaurants.

Amazing restaurant with so many eggplant dishes! I was in heaven - Edit
This restaurant was such an awesome find for my Omni boyfriend and I. Located right in the old town, They had tablet menus with an entire section for vegan friendly meals, which sorted the menu items suitable for vegans. Most dishes incorporate eggplant somehow, so it was literally a dream come true!
Read moreThe salads are massive, so it was a perfect lunch place, although it seemed more tailored to dinner. The Lentil salad with pomegranates was fantastic, while my SO had a huge salad goat cheese, figs, and eggplant, and was plenty filling. We also had the eggplant tahini appetizer, which was yum yum yum!
I'd give this place 5 stars if I could. Would definitely recommend
Pros: Many vegan options , tablet menus, very techy , great food
Cons: a bit pricier, but worth it

nice atmosphere, okay food - Edit
Located near my hostel in the Old Town, I came across Aubergine and decided to try it out at lunch. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, really nice atmosphere. The menu has a whole vegan section so I was excited about that, however I didn't think the dishes were that inspiring - I chose mushrooms in pesto cream and sweet potato mash. It was quite strange for me eating such a huge plate of only mushrooms as my main meal (with no complimentary bread basket or anything) as it simply didn't feel like a balanced meal and felt more like I was eating 2 sides. The mushrooms were tasty but I found it rather overpriced for what it was and although I felt full (it's such a big quantity of only mushrooms!!), I didn't feel satisfied after the meal.

Cons: uninspiring dishes, dishes not served with anything on the side , bit expensive for what it is

not many vegan options - Edit
I was pleased to find this place but not too impressed with the limited vegan options. Only one vegan main (called vegan eggplant) and a few salads and sides. I had a lentil salad that was ok for a light lunch but not a proper meal. If you're not fussed you could put together some sides and salads to make a heartier meal (from memory the sides included falafel and another eggplant dish). All the pastas had egg in them according to the waiter.

Beautiful and tasty food - Edit
The food here is really great, and they have a huge number of veggies options. Also, the staff is veg-literate, so they can help point you to which dishes are suitable for your diet.
Read moreWe had the tri-color falafel, couscous salad, and vegan eggplants along with homemade bread. All of the dishes were delicious, and they were all beautifully presented as well. They had a nice variety of colors, flavors, and textures. The three colors of falafel were especially eye-catching, and the flavors of the eggplant dish are memorable as the eggplant was roasted to perfection, stuffed with an assortment of vegetables, and drizzled with tahini.
Overall, we had a fantastic meal here, and I would love to come back next time I am in Bucharest.
Pros: Beautiful colors, Fresh, delicious food, Good variety
