Pretty Darn Good

Visited here with my non vegan/veggie friends. She had the seitan burger with sweet potato fries & I had the other one..beetroot & something with triple cooked chips. Both were excellent. Really fresh, big portions and super tasty. One thing I would nitpick on would be mine could probably have been a bit hotter. It was verging more on warm..but it didn’t matter as we ate so fast due to it being so nice! My carnist friend declared it the best (non meat) burger she’s ever had..success!
Pudding menu was on the limited side but we had the chocolate orange cheesecake which had a great, smooth texture & the beetroot & apple cake which was super light & sweet & moist.
The only other negative thing to say is the coffee/hot chocolate cups are pretty tiny..definitely could do with being bigger. The cafe itself though is really well presented with plenty of seating and friendly enough staff. A few other reviews mention it being pricey but we didn’t agree. £10.50 for a burger & chips (of high standard..not just fast food/takeaway style) is very reasonable. You’d easily pay the same for the equivalent in a “normal” pub!

Pros: Portion size, Fresh, Cucumber water for the table 💚

Cons: Little way out of the centre, Small coffee cups

one of the best vegan places i‘ve seen :)

my girlfriend is vegan so we try almost every vegan place we can find- i can easily say anna loka was one of the best!! the food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! we had ‚tofish and chips‘ and a yummy mixed rice dish (forgot the name:) ) - both really awesome! definitely highly recommended!

wonderful food, but quite pricey

We came to Anna Loka in a bit of a hurry, which was a shame as we would have liked the chance to try a bit more! My husband is not vegan, so I am always a bit nervous when we go to a completely vegan place. However, I needn’t have worried.

The food was delicious (I had a curry and he had a burger), but both of his initial choices had run out which was unfortunate. It was only 6:30pm, so we wouldn’t have expected them to have sold out of so much of the menu. Still, what we had was delicious and we also had a couple of milkshakes. My husband was pleased to have a protein one as he had been training and was looking to up the calories of his meal.

The food was amazing, but it was the most expensive meal we had in our 4 days in Cardiff which we were surprised by. Admittedly, this was probably because of the shakes we had (they were £6 each), but in the middle of the student area, a long way from the centre of town, it seemed a bit much.

Pros: delicious food, friendly staff

Cons: had run out of a lot of the menu, seemed expensive.

Could not love this place more! Bring your Appetite!

From the ambience and the phenomenally friendly staff to the delicious range of menu options there isn’t a thing I don’t love about Anna Loka. We started with smoothies (I’m a big fan of the “Berries and C”) then moved on to the Tofish and Chips - a vegan twist on traditional fish and chips. It was a generous portion but it didn’t stop us from trying the chocolate and salted caramel cake for dessert. So glad we opted for dessert - it was fabulous; the kind of vegan cake that has you wondering how the heck they’ve made it. Thanks to the entire Anna Loka team for their attentive and friendly service!

Fab Night

Hubby & I had a lovely relaxed evening here .
Music & atmosphere were the best.

I chose to have the Rodeo Burger with chips & Hubby had the curry.
I couldn't finish mine as it was a large burger but hubby happily finished it off.
I LOVED the spiced cauliflower that accompanied his curry.

We both had dessert Salted caramel cake & an Apple, Beetroot & ginger cake, both were absolutely stunning.
We then chose a Raw Chocolate Hazelnut cake to take home also.

We will definitely be going back.
Thank you to all the friendly staff 😃

Great food, nice atmosphere

We really enjoyed our lunch at the Anna Loka. The smoothies were very tasty and nutritious, and the aubergine fillet was great. We'd recommend this place!

Perfect vegan cafe

Anna Loka's philosophy, vibe and delicious food makes this place my favourite restaurant in Cardiff. It's amazing being able to eat 100% of the options on the menu...the only negative is that it's impossible to eat all of them at once! Perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I took my (non-vegan) mum here today and she said it's the best vegan food she has ever tried- I'll look forward to my next visit and so does my mum!

birthday meal

I went to Anna Loka with a few others for a friend's birthday meal.

I had made a cake and the staff offered to bring it out after we finished the meal.

There was a bit of a wait for the food (as there always is it seems) and despite ordering at least 24 hours in advance, some of the dishes weren't available (this is also something that has happened every time I've been), which was disappointing. The food, however, was extremely tasty, couldn't fault it.

We had to ask for the plates to be cleared (after a bit of a wait) and for the cake to be brought out, but the staff did put a load of candles on and lit them too, which I thought was a nice touch.

It's a shame about the above problems and the expensive price tags - £10.50 for a burger and an extra £2.00 if you have to have gluten free, minimum £3.95 for a juice! We would love to be regular customers as local vegans, but just can't afford it and get very frustrated by the long waiting times and the fact that there never appears to be enough food in stock, usually the items that we want to order too.

Pros: very tasty food, friendly staff, all vegan

Cons: very long wait times for food & drink, expensive, they always run out of food items

Been many times to this place and will keep going back. Great variety to the menu and all the food is tasty and filling. The decoration is so cool and quirky and is fitting of a vegan premises. The owner Adam is really friendly and always so welcoming. I recommend the burgers and one of their ice block dessert things.

always so good!

our first visit here was for Sunday lunch over a year ago. (for my birthday) both my partner and myself loved it. although the portion looked small there was plenty there and very filling. a year later we Had a fabulous late lunch. For a belated birthday treat (for me) as they were closed on Tuesday. :( it was so yummy. My partner had the chilli dog and I had the tempeh beer batter. Loads of food and at a reasonable price. Staff were lovely, and very friendly. The only downside was the roll for the chilli dog didn't Hold very well which led to very messy eating ? and there was no cake. Really had my heart set on that lemon drizzle. (It's ok though I needed to be restricted on cake eating!)the following day we went back in again and the level of service was great! food still great. I had the burger this time and my partner had the Thai chilli wrap (and they had cake this time round which was luuuush!)I'm annoyed I left it over a year since I last went as I forgot how great this place is. We shall definitely be back soon. - again

Pros: vegan, reasonably priced, great staff and great food

Cardiff's Vegan Option

This is the the place to go for a totally vegan menu in Cardiff. The menu seems to be updated fairly regularly and covers brunch style food through to dinner options. The cakes are made locally (not in house, as far as I know, but by an excellent vegan baker) and the staff here are usually very friendly.

If I had to criticise, service can be slow particularly when it's busy and the portions could be bigger, but that's probably only because the food is so good that I want more. Free street parking is limited to 1 hour unless you can find a spot in one of the gaps on the nearby streets.

Pros: Variety on the menu

Cons: Car parking can be difficult here

Tasty food and great service

The food was really tasty and was prepared really quickly! We had a doner meat wrap and the beetroot and asparagus hash with triple cooked chips which was to die for! Followed by the chocolate, peanut butter and caramel raw cheesecake which was also heavenly.

The service was great, and the staff were all very happy and so helpful.
