Yes and No

Went there on a Mon evening around 6.15pm, and was told that the buffet had closed early since it was Monday. Went back the next morning to pick up some samosas for the car ride. The samosas were disappointing since they are made of mashed potatoes instead of potato pieces and peas. The place itself is a typical Indian grocery store with some snacks and sweets.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Ambience

When in a vegan desert…

The only vegan place in Bakersfield was closed when we arrived. This was the next best option. The person who helped us didn't seem to understand what vegan means. We ordered a few vegan items, but the bread might have contained butter. For the most part, the food was okay. The place is affordable and does have an authentic feel.

2 Words: Vegetarian, Bakersfield

This is an ALL Vegetarian market and buffet in Bakersfield. It is also, unlike Lassens (which I still love for many other reasons,)inexpensive.

Pros: great value, hard to find ingredients, natural, vegetarian

Good Honest Place. Rare to find amazing people !

This is a small grocery shop and restaurant. The food is good. It is not a fancy place but it is good for a casual visit. I will visit this place every time I am in the neighborhood.

Pros: Good Food, Honest People, Excellent at the same time economical

Cons: Not a fancy place, Clean food but dining area could improve

Yummy Samosa and Savory Snacks

I had read about this place on happycow and decided to stop in on my San Francisco trip 2 weeks ago. Here's my All India Sweets and Spices review.

It has a similar feel to other India grocery & restaurant / deli places that I've been to in the Southern California area. The store and restaurant/deli is connected, just divided into 2 separate sections.

I bought 3 different types of spiced savory snacks (by weight): spiced wheat sticks, spiced cashew, spiced fried peanuts; plus a samosa. The samosa ($.70) was small, hot, and very good. The savory snacks were all so good, too.

I like it when I find good Indian savory snacks, so I'm giving this place a thumb up.

Pros: spiced cashews, super yum samosa

definite experience

well, i figure to be the first to review it, 'coz i feel reviews are a bit important especially if there aren't any.
once you walk in and you wander if you are in US anymore, but isn't that the whole point of diversity. the place is more of a grocery store with a lot of snacks to offer as well, which was good because we were traveling. if you are looking for the buffet, you kinda have to go close to the counter and there it is, a small warm station, rather limited choices i believe there were 3 dishes and rice, they bring you Naan at the table. the food was amazing, i was a bit skeptical at the beginning because the dining area really looks kind of dirty, but we decided to give it a shot anyway, spicy rich, flavorful, intense! i have to say the best Indian food i have ever had, and my wife had a Lasi, and she still talks about it, being the best Lasi ever. Vegans beware! they use milk in a few of the items! but everything is vegetarian including in the store itself. it seems like a family owned operation, and i think the whole family was there too, i bet the grandma cooked the food, and 12 year old boy served us, the older men were behind the counter holding a little baby. i wish a third of the food places had that warm family feel.
give them a try! the place does look dirty, but oh well, non of us got sick or anything, and the food is really worth it. did i mention ultra cheap?

Pros: delicious , cheap, family

Cons: not so clean, few choices
