Amazing!!!

Best food I've ever had! We visited late in the evening so luckily got a table (definitely book I'm advance). We had the lasagne and a faux turkey, Bell pepper dish with potatoes and omg absolutely delicious!!!! My husband originally planned to order pizza as he'd seen the pictures but they took it off the menu as it is more about homecooking than a pizzeria. In the end he was so happy they don't do pizza because the food we had was incredible. Good portion size and the tastiest food ever, a must when in Lisbon!!

Pros: All vegan , Family run , Cute setting

Highlight of my time in Lisbon

First of all, reserve in advance! and plan to go on a night they are open! We got lucky because a table didnt show up but otherwise we would have missed out on what was one of the sweetest experiences of our trip. the food is incredible and made with an actually impressive amount of in-house attention, the atmosphere is like nothing ive ever experience before (6 intimate tables in a courtyard and some indoors which we didnt even see) and kind, thoughtful service from the 2 passionate and sweet vegan fiances who own/cook/host/serve/etc.

A gem inside Lisbon

Great food and friendly staff, cozy place with outdoor sitting, all fresh and tasty since the starters to the desert and wine. Only down was that the pasta took too long to come, but will be back for sure

Pros: All vegan, Excellent staff

Cons: Hard to park nearby, The main dish took too long to come

This is one of our absolute favourites in Lisbon. Such lovely, friendly people, and the food is out of this world. Genuine Italian recipes, fully veganised. Unique and welcoming.

Vegan Italian food

Nice location in Alfama. Super nice multilingual team that speaks English, Italian, Portuguese and German. We were lucky to got a table without a reservation. The entrée was great (Bruschetta), the main course was good but not completely to our taste (pasta too salty, lasagne a bit overcooked). I would definitely go there again tho.

Pros: All vegan, Great team, Almost all handmade

Hi! I was the one attending you and also one of the owners. First its funny that as a vegan yourself you give a bad review for a small independent vegan business after you did not even try the food! But am not surprised, in fact I expected your review since you were so incredibly rude and condensending towards me yesterday. I was polite to you, I always am because I truly care about our customers. you asked why there were no Pizzas in the Menu and I, with honesty explained our motivations. We did reduce the pizzas but still offer them, as I explained to you, Everyday we have 3 different pizzas, whith regularily changing topiings. We reduced because our place was never intended as a Pizzeria, hence the name Horacio Trattoria and not Horacio Pizzeria. It was always intended as something we offer EXTRA. We want people to try more our other food we have in the menu. You can find a vegan pizza in many other places but to have an all italian vegan place is very unique. We have dishes in the menu you can not find in any other restaurant in the world in the vegan version. The owners are me and my fiance whos italian. We veganise his family recipies following exatly the tradition and the flavours, We work a minimum of 12 hours a day to prepare all food from stratch and always fresh with organic ingredients. We have starters, first courses, second "fish" and "meat" courses. We make desserts and even gelato! all homemade. even the Limoncello is made by us. So since we focuss on italian cuisine and pizza is an art apart we want to focus more on cooking and not on just making pizza, which takes a lot of time. I explained you this in a polite way yesterday. You came to our RESTAURANT saying youre not even much hungry and just want a pizza to share and a beer. We are not a snack bar. We want people to come hungry and have a complete experience of italian cuisine, to be curious, to try new dishes, to get out of our place happy and full. If we had only clients like you we would have to close down and could not even pay our basic bills. We dont let seat people if there not here to really appreciate our hard work. also we have few tables. we give that tables to people who come for our food. Yesterday all the tables were reserved, the one you got was cancelled last minute thats why I let you sit. But after your attidude I regretted it, and was happy you left after I told you we dont have as many Pizzas anymore.

You should be working in a different area, service is not for you, you should be happy with feedback as owner it will help you to understand what your customers want, then put more attention to the pictures of the food offered.

You did not bother to try our food, therefor youre not our customer who can give a feedback we care about😄I care about the feedback of the people who do spend time with us. They all say its better to have fewer Pizzas and more diverse dishes because its more interesting. Once again, vegan pizza you can find easily but not a vegan vitello tonnato or a vegan cacio e pepe for example😄and because we care about our regular customers who do like our pizza we did not take them out of our menu complete but only reduced. As I said we work more than 12h a day to prepare all food homemade in just 2! By stop making the pizza who takes a long time to make from scratch we could reduce the work to maybe 9 hours a day. but no, because we care about our clients we choose to work more.. and we just opened before the pandemic and turned a run down snack bar into a thriving vegan italian restaurant with happy customers so I guess we do something right in our job. And Im proud to say our food is of an excellent quality because we put all our efford, time and love into it. the fotos on happy cow and google are submittet by clients, we dont have control over that and we cant delete them obviously. But if you bother to check our instagram you will see that off 154 posts we have only 7 about pizza. so we clearly show that we are not a pizzeria but the pizza is something extra to our main menu.. even you were disappointed because our restaurant was not what you expected you could have still been polite. Being rude to someone working in the service industry, no matter if its the owner, the waitress or the dishwasher, speaks volumes about yourself. Never mistreat people working in this industry. we literally give up most of our freetime to cook for you. Just dont be rude, its that easy =)

Lovely little place and homey atmosphere

The food was really good, especially their homemade cheeses but even more that that I like the atmosphere of the place. It is this really small place where you feel at home and there is a beautiful Italian music and details (like the table cloth) which really circled the perfect atmosphere. We had great time there. Definitely make a reservation because its hard to get a table without one.

Excellent

The small restaurant looks very cozy, unfortunately we couldn't stay there longer because of the baby. Instead we took the lasagna to go and loved it. We recommend!

Déçue par ce restaurant

Nous sommes allés dans ce restaurant après avoir lu les bons avis sur happycow. Les plats (la sauce tomates) étaient affreusement salés. Pratiquement immangeables. Cher et peu copieux. Je ne recommande pas.

Lovely little place with very traditional/authentic but fully vegan Italian dishes. Some of the best Italian food I've had (including in Italy!) Definitely book as it's very small, especially if you want to eat inside. Lovely friendly staff. Lots of choices.

Feels like heaven

We ordered the lasagna and pizza with chorizo for take away and were amazed by how delicious it was. Pizza dough was fluffy, tomato sauce fruity and full of flavour, great chorizo and mozzarella alternative. Best vegan lasagna I have ever eaten. Friendly staff. When you’d like to eat in the restaurant better make a reservation some days ahead.

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, So many options to choose

Our Best Meal!

We have been traveling for 2.5 months and this was THE BEST MEAL we've had. The love and care (and delicious flavors) that go into the dishes are unmatched.

We made reservations through the website (highly recommended) and arrived for the second seating at 9:30pm. They were out of a few desserts by that time so if you are a big dessert lover I would suggest going to their 7:00pm seating.

We enjoyed negronis, seitan + tonnato appetizer, lasagne bolognese and the pepperoni pizza. Each bite was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection. The prices are also very reasonable for homemade dishes as good and unique as these.

We wish we lived in the area so we could make this spot a regular dinner spot. Alas, we will just have to come back each time we visit Lisboa. Obrigada for the amazing meal!!

Pros: Flavors are amazing!!, Reasonably priced, Yummy drinks

The great Italian experience

This is a place with so much good food you have to return to.
A good variety on all options of the menu, with a visual look that it just makes you appreciate the food. The taste is beyond any other Italian restaurant in Lisbon, as far as I know or tried.
The staff is very friendly and helps you if any choice issues come.
Although, due to the limited seating, a reservation is almost required; it is worth it.

Pros: Fantastic food, Friendly staff, Great environment

Cons: Limited seating

Delicious homey italian cuisine restaurant

This restaurant consists in a very small room in Alfama (better to make a reservation beforehand), requiring a pleasant walk to get there, and just for that reason it already has somekind of a magical feel to it.
We were very well received - the service was great, the staff were really nice and helpful and the environment was very comfortable and homey.
For starters we had the “cheese” plate, probably the best I’ve had, each type was so remarkable in terms of consistency and flavour.
The main dishes were the lasagna alla bolognese (delicious with a kind of sweet aftertaste) and a fried calzone (interesting concept, was good, but ends up being too much bread).
We ended our meal with the napolitan cake, cause the waiter said it was the most typical/singular of the bunch, and it did not disappoint either.
The price range is more on the expensive side, but given the location, quality of the food and service, it is justified. I can’t wait to return!

Delicious vegan Italian comfort food

This little vegan Italian restaurant serves delicious food, like different kinds of pasta, pizza, but also Portuguese dishes.

We ate twice at this restaurant during our stay in Lisbon. We had the bruschetta as a starter, which was really tasty and came with Hummus and cashew cream (mozzarella). Tomatoes were really fresh and tasty.

We also tried the lasagne, papardelle al ragu, pizza Margherita and pizza montanara (pan fried pizza). All the dishes were good. We liked the pasta dishes the most. Perfectly al dente pasta and the sauces were very tasty.

Sadly tiramisu was sold out on both occasions, but we had the hazelnut cake and the Napolitan one (ricotta cake). Both were good.

If you are staying (vegan) in Lisbon you should definitely visit this place and enjoy their delicious food. The staff is really friendly and it seems like they have a lot of fun running the restaurant. Book a table otherwise you will be disappointed! Five stars for sure!

Pros: Delicious food, Cosy restaurant , Friendly staff

Amazing!

I spent such a wonderful dinner at Horacio. This place is very small and cosy, so it’s mandatory to book.
Their proposition, Italian food veganized, is quite unique in Lisboa. Everything was delicious, especially the “rabbit”.

Cocktails and wine were very good too!
