Starters were ok, not the best. The saganaki was basically large blocks of fried violife so nothing special. Mains were really good - we had the mushroom steaks, moussaka and plant balls which went down well with my non-vegan friends. Dessert was a chocolate torte which is probably the best vegan dessert I’ve had! Service was good, I’m not a fan of QR code menus however - very anti social! Negroni was excellent.

It was nice to go to a fully vegan restaurant in Santorini. I had the beyond burger which was delicious! Lots of different options on the menu as well! Our waiter was really friendly😄

Zeer overgewaardeerd en slechte service - Edit
We werden vriendelijk ontvangen voor de lunch. Eerst probeerden we een tafeltje buiten maar omdat we het te fris vonden mochten we alsnog binnen zitten. We bestelden tomato fritters, fava dip, saganaki cheese en polenta. De tomato fritters waren goed van smaak en textuur maar nog rauw, roze en vloeibaar vanbinnen. De tzatziki erbij was prima. De fava dip was erg dun en vloeibaar. Het leek meer op een soep dan een dip. De smaak was prima maar ik heb beter gehad. De saganaki cheese bestond uit 5 grote stukken gepaneerde en gefrituurde vegan kaas (ik denk van Violife of vergelijkbaar in de supermarkt verkrijgbaar merk). De kaas was niet lang genoeg gebakken om te smelten. Het was gewoon warme kaas. Niet verheffend en de calorieën niet waard. De tomatenmarmelade erbij maakte veel goed. De polenta werd op de kaart als volgt beschreven: Breaded cube of cornmeal, black olives and soya milk floating in velouté cream cheese drizzled with parsley oil and caramelized hazelnuts. Klinkt goed hè? Wat we kregen was polenta in een romige saus die smaakte naar vanille. We hebben als vegan allemaal weleens de fout gemaakt om voor een hartig gerecht per ongeluk plantaardige room te gebruiken die is bedoeld voor zoete gerechten. Daar zit zo’n vanillesmaak aan die elk hartig gerecht verpest. De roomsaus met vanillesmaak en peterselieolie was niet te eten. We meldden dit aan de bediening, zeiden dat we de vergissing begrepen maar dat we het echt niet konden opeten. De reactie was een flutverhaal dat dit een creatie van de chef was. We zeiden nog dat als er op de kaart had gestaan ‘vanillesaus met peterselie’ we het nooit zouden bestellen. De reactie was dat ze nu eenmaal niet alles in de omschrijving konden zetten. Hij probeerde het nog recht te zetten dat het een roomsaus was in plaats van een roomkaas-saus en dat het dus bedoeld was als half zoet half hartig. Maar er was niks zoets aan de saus. Het smaakte gewoon naar vanille die elke andere smaak volledig overstemde. Het ontbrak de bediening totaal aan begrip, empathie, zelfreflectie, klantgerichtheid en beroepseer.

Zeer overgewaardeerd restaurant dat te hoge prijzen rekent voor matige tot slechte gerechten en nog beroerd personeel heeft ook.

Cons: Mooie gerechten maar matig tot slecht bereid, Bediening gaat in discussie, zoekt geen oplossing, Te duur voor wat ze bieden

Lousy service - Edit
The food is over-expensive but overall not bad. The service is lousy though. The polenta (appetizer) had a vanilla taste which tasted awful. The menu described the sauce as cream cheese with no mention of vanilla, so we assumed the kitchen had made a mistake. But the waiter insisted the dish was designed that way and kept arguing. I had to ask him 5 times to take the dish away, as we wouldn’t eat it anyway, before he stopped arguing with us. No empathy, no alternatives, no other solution. And of course they charged the full amount. This is not how I would run a business. Normally I try and support vegan places, but this one I can’t recommend.

A Santorini Highlight - Edit
We really enjoyed our dinner in 5Senses Vegan in Thira- not to be confused with Five Senses in Imerovigli, which is close. The terrace is stunning and the food was delicious with lots of exciting choices. We had the Saganaki, fried Violife cheese (which on retrospect was too much vegan cheese for us- must have been nearly 2 blocks!- but very tasty), the moussaka which we were very impressed with, and the shrimp skewers which were impressive. It may be a bit on the pricey side, but sometimes you need a fancy dinner out on holiday. We will be back!

The place is the only all vegan spot in Santorini. It’s a beautiful spot and the server was super friendly, recommending all the traditional Greek dishes we should try.

Service is amazing too, so warm and welcoming. Lovely people.
The dishes were good.
We went for dinner and had the gyros and the moussaka, both ok... but missing something.
The fava was good, but too liquid, more like a soup/cream than a spread. Tasty though.
The raw chocolate tart is good, but also far from what we expexted for the price/restaurant.
We also went for breakfast. The mediterranean medley is disappointing: becel and hotel jam, simple granola with milk, tiny bread and croissant. Expected more creativity, fresh and homemade ingredients, for the (high) price.
The chocolate pancakes are also ok, but not as lavish as expected. Do not recommend them.

Read moreThey started off by giving as a non-alcoholic shot that I think was a soup? It was cucumber with a creamy top and omg it was yum. My partner and I both got an entree each and then had bolognas as the mains. The tzatziki was so creamy and delicious and the pita bread that came with it was just a chefs kiss. The spetzofai was also super flavourful and I loved the sauce and veggies, but it wasn't my favourite vegan meat (I am also super picky with vegan meat). But the pasta, oh the pasta was just delicious! The portion was massive, it was full of flavour and I left so so satisfied.
The only issue I had was we ordered way too much food, so I couldn't try dessert. It is also expensive but when in Santorini that's pretty normal.
I also came past the next morning and tried a coffee from downstairs and it was delicious as. The man who served me was also super friendly and informative.

Read moreThere are so many places to eat in Santorini, but the range of vegan food is limited (Neapolitan pasta anyone?).
It was good to get a beyond burger, with some lovely homemade sauces and a small portion of proper chips, safe in the knowledge that the grill hadn’t been used for meat, or the fryer for fish or chicken. So good, we had food there both days, and had the chick n salad for lunch the next day (chickpea, beans, salad and vinegar). The portions are all generous. Do give them a try!

The best vegan restaurant on the island - Edit
I saved this review until I was on the plane home just to be sure that the statement above was accurate and that I had given other restaurants a fair chance.
Read moreThis restaurant is beautiful, despite the fact that it lacks the views of some other restaurants on the island it has great decor with friendly and welcoming staff.
What's most important though is the food, 5senses delivers on all fronts. Great presentation (for those of us that like to photograph our food) and top tier flavours.
I can personally recommend the "steak" made with mushrooms it's bathed in a sauce that I assume was created by the gods. The potato wedges were perfect too (something that seems to be a consistent fact across the island.
The spetzofai sausage is arguably the best dish on the menu, I considered having it for starter, main and desert
My partner also recommends the Meatballs and moussaka, between us we had half the menu. One thing to note is that the portions are quite big (particularly starters) so keep that in mind.
I could go on and on about how much I loved the dishes here (we ended up eating here 3 times) but there's only so much space to write a review so I'll stop now.

My partner and I got the carbonara and a shrimp dish to share. Both were AMAZING. I haven’t had carbonara in years! Overall a very delicious experience.
