Accomodating to dietary restrictions - Edit
The servers ask if you have any allergies and then mark the menu to cross out anything you can't eat, and what they can modify so you can eat it. I have an allium intolerance which is very annoying because it's in a lot of dishes. The marked menu ensured I didnt have to guess and there were no unwanted surprises.

I’m from toronto and that’s where Planta was born, the menu is pretty similar and I love the food regardless. Planta has been a go to place of mine for the past 8 years! This planta though takes the cake for coolest atmosphere and interior design!! It’s STUNNING!!! they also do pop up dance classes there, so cute!! They also have an outdoor area!

As we walked in there was no hostess and all the bartenders saw us but turned the other way. We waited but it looked completely empty so we were a bit confused whether or not they were open. They could have said, "welcome, someone will be with you shortly".My friend had to walk up and ask if we find a spot or wait for someone. They said we need to wait for a hostess (not friendly at all). The hostess was nice and so was our waiter, THANKFULLY. I gave 4 stars for the lack of welcoming and because I felt like it was hard to pick something I thought would be good. Food was average, nothing too exciting from what we ordered.

At this point, I've lost count of how many times we've been at Planta and I'm so glad that this restaurant has done so well. Menu standouts include the Unagi Eggplant, Red Dragon Roll, Mushroom Croquetas, as well as the Rosarita and Oaxacan Old Fashioned from the bar.

The ambiance is my favorite part of frequenting this restaurant. I have only been here twice so far. The first time, I found the food to be quite creative and tasty. The special margarita was also unique and delicious. I have to say, however, when I visited a second time, my experience was quite the opposite. Possibly, I just had bad luck on my choices, but I found the 3 food items to be lacking in creativity and tasting over salty. They were out of the specialty margarita I wanted so I was advised by the waitress to have the watermelon margarita. I questioned her advice since it seemed like it would just taste like a watered down margarita….and found my instinct to be correct. It did taste like a watery margarita. Don’t they taste test these offerings? So I still gave 4 stars with the hope I just visited on an off night.

I used to love going to Planta when I lived in Canada, so I was genuinely happy to discover they have locations in California too. The menu offers a fantastic selection of fresh, flavorful vegan dishes that make plant-based eating exciting, not restrictive. It’s fast, creative, and satisfying — definitely not your average vegan fare.
Read moreThe bar is impressively stocked, offering great cocktail options that complement the food well. However, the service left a bit to be desired. We had to wait quite a while for our drinks, and our server barely checked in throughout the meal, which took away from the overall experience.
Still, if you're looking for high-quality vegan food with bold flavors and great variety, Planta is absolutely worth visiting. Just cross your fingers for better service.

Port food on the marina of Ray. The dining room is breathtaking. The food was very good but I did expect more chef personality. Everything ordered was yummy but not unique and easy to find elsewhere. The service was okay. The restrooms weren’t the cleanest. There I said it. But that dining room was so inspiring that it still feels luxurious to dine there.

Beautiful, bright, nicely spaced indoor dining room. Too windy the day we went to enjoy outdoor space but that is an option. We were incredibly impressed with every dish we ordered and would recommend each. If we had to rank them, I'd say don't miss the firecracker roll and bang bang broccoli. Super honorable mention for the maitake mushrooms. The horchata cheesecake was almost perfection, although there was a bitterness to the fruit in the compote topping, so we just brushed that aside and enjoyed every last bite.

This is my second time trying PLANTA after enjoying them at their Chicago location a year ago.
Read moreWe went specifically for happy hour (16:00 - 18:00) and were able to get a few orders of bites and drinks in before it ended. Everything on HH was discounted about $1-2 so it's not huge savings, but every little bit counts.
Some of the dishes we had were great while others were simply okay. We loved their mushroom tacos the most but found their "loaded nachos" to not be very loaded, and the avocado dip ended up being a ceviche which was fine but not great.
We also ordered a sushi roll and their truffle mushroom udon, which was a favorite of mine from Chicago. Both were good but I was definitely surprised at how little udon we had for the $30 price point. Great flavors, but I feel it could've been a bit better for the price.
Aside from that, PLANTA was still another good experience. The drinks were well made, the ambiance is stellar, and service was great.

Had dinner New Year’s Day and must say even though the food service wasn’t the best I will still give 5 stars! Kitchen was short of staff front of house were running around apologising it seemed quite a few tables were having issues. Our starter came once we finished main course. Food is amazing front of house staff great! Building amazing and location. Has not put me off 😊
