authentic lebanese cuisine made with love - Edit
owner mae puts a lot of care into her kitchen and makes sure everyone is well-fed. alongside classic rolled fried eggplant, cauliflower, and falafel pita and soup there's also spinach pie and vegan rice pudding on the clearly-labeled menu. falafel is fried per order. everything is flavorful and fresh! i highly reccommend anything with tabbouli, fattouche, and hummus. if you can't choose, have a vegan platter to try a little bit of everything (and save some for later!).
Read moreavoid chains like sittoos, aladdins, or taza - if you want classic lebanese food, falafel cafe is where it's at around university circle. trust me, you can taste the difference.
Pros: flavorful, homemade kitchen, clearly labeled menu, up-and-beyond hospitality
Cons: location (slightly out of the way on euclid), can sometimes be a wait

This cafe by the University has clearly marked vegan selections. I got the falafel wrap, eggplant wrap and spinach fatayer which were all delicious! My fav is the eggplant one 🤤

Amazingly Good - Edit
All the food here is fantastic. The spinach fattayer was incredible. Hummus was good. Mujadara was tender and flavorful. Eggplant was perfect. Perfect.
Read moreEverything is vegan unless meat or cheese is added. Fried and falafel are cooked separate from meat, separate cooking areas for vegan and non-vegan food.
The only con (and this is subjective) is that the falafel is very crunchy, by design. If you like it crunchy, you’ll love it. If not, falafel is hard to mess up so its still ok, just not my preferred method of cooking.

Pros: All food is vegan unless you add meat or cheese, So good, Decent prices

There’s a great vegan platter here, I came back for it 3 days in a row when I was here at a conference.

Got me through grad school - Edit
Lots of authentic options. Go with the falafel sandwich. This was the first place I found after moving back from Cairo the the States that offered the authentic, crunchy falafel I missed. Reasonably priced. The owner and his wife (I presume - apologies if I am mistaken) are very nice. If you are not vegan, I also recommend the rice pudding and baklava.
