Busy - Edit
It was really busy so if you want to go it is better if you book. We enjoyed the food. We got small dishes to share and it was a nice experience although we didn't think all of the dishes were great. Some of them were ok. The price is 3.50 for every small dish which is not bad.

Closes an hour early - Edit
It was not my first time here, based on okayish experiences before I decided to try it again. I'm not one to freak out at rude service, but I would say I was the last person to come in, and the server received me, that's fine. They didn't seem a rush to take in my order, In the middle of my meal--I was given the bill, and then minutes later as I was still putting food in my mouth I was asked to pay. I pointed out to the server, that it's extremely extremely rude to interrupt people as they are eating without an excuse-me or a real apology and ask them to pay in the middle of their meal, let alone as they are literarily chewing on food. I paid and just got up even, lost my apetite. I tried to find this "boss" who insisted on getting this server to collect money, and explained it to the bus -boy. I was perturbed... because there were other people waiting patiently with cash and or cards on their table to pay and leave---but they INSISTED on ruining my meal by making me pay mid-meal. I worked in restaurant over ten years in differen countries in europe, and have NEVER done something so rude. Who knows maybe I'm not the 'clientele' they like.
Read morePrevious times I didn't experience bad service.... I also asked if they can move on a plate from table they said "no" it's their 'concept.' They can do better.

Disappointing. - Edit
Given how busy and popular this place seemed to be I was a little disappointed. The flavour in a lot of dishes seemed to be lacking. The dressing in the papaya salad was basically just sugar water, the bi kho was quite bland and the Buddha bowl was nothing more than wok fried veg with a few pieces of tofu.

Best Vietnam vegan in Berlin - Edit

Lovely restaurant experience - Edit
I had a lovely dinner at 1990 with four friends who are not vegan and with a few of them being very sceptical. They enjoyed every dish and they had a great experience. Super yummy dishes and it’s great that everything you choose is 100% vegan. What a relieve.

Nice varied unusual menu - Edit
The thing I liked about 1990 is there was so many different flavours that I’d not even think of getting, for example the caramelised pears and soy veg which I saw recommended here and loved, i also liked cha ca which was unusual and tasty, I would not recommend the raw rice paper rolls as they were tasteless and felt funny in an inappropriate way, and the dish with guacamole, but aside from that I loved it and would recommend for anyone in Berlin
Read morePros: Lots of varied flavours , Only €3.50 a bowl , Nice atmosphere
Cons: Some of the dishes I wasn’t keen on , Have to book as busy (pro and con I guess)

Fancy tapas bar - Edit
All tapas taste good, but I do think the portion sizes are kind of hit and miss. I suggest skipping the summer rolls (You can get them anywhere nowadays). Go for the pear instead. Get a bowl of rice. Voila, you have a meal. Big portion and very unique flavor profile. Then get more things! Make it an experience! Try new dishes! Because that‘s what tapas are for.

Zuviel Hype - Edit

Not so special - Edit
Our expectations were very high because we read everywhere that this is THE place to be in Berlin and we saw people lining up to get inside. We made a reservation so we were sure to be able to eat here. We ordered 9 small dishes for the 3 of us, and to be honest, we were disappointed. The flavors were a bit bland, everything tasted more or less the same, and after we ate everything we were still hungry. The people were friendly enough and the juices tasted good, but we would not really recommend this place as much as it is now. Afterward we went to a thai place just across (li.ke) where we had been before to still our hunger. 😅
