Very Authentic - Edit
We were the only western people, everyone else was local which was great - made it feel very authentic. The food was delicious, especially the sweet soy meats! You just show the woman what you’d like from the buffet and she heaps in on a plate for you. Really great place, shame it’s not open at night.

Super-authentic Thai vegetarian food. The dedicated local clientele is testimony to this. A little on the spicy side but delicious and inexpensive.

Open buffet delicious vegan options - Edit
I found this place by accidentally but I am glad that I gave it a chance. It is really nice and cozy place. They had maybe more than 10 vegan options. It was really delicious.

My favorite local style mix plate in Chiang Mai!!! - Edit
I love everything about this place and have made it my daily breakfast spot since they open early at 7:30am, they have a shaded seating area, and I like the relaxed local vibe. It’s a great way to start the day with a spicy, savory Thai breakfast or lunch. I think Thai Orchid is the best version of this kind of local style food cart in Chiang Mai, and at any time of day I find a ton of fresh vegan options. They make an authentic khao soy with heaps of fresh garnishes, and will make it vegan with rice noodles instead of egg noodles upon request. I like some of the other vegan khao soys in town alright, but no place else does the full traditional style with fresh toppings like Thai Orchid does. Since this dish is the specialty of northern Thailand, I wish they got more hype for their spot on vegan version!

Solid Option - Edit
A small Jay place serving premade food. I got a rice plate, which was good. The thought the fake soy meat was the best of the 3 options I got. My friend got the Khao Soi and liked it too. Good meal for 40 baht each, but I was a bit hungry after.

Some of the best authentic Thai vegetarian food in Chiang Mai - Edit
I live in Chiang Mai and while i have not tried every vego restaurant I have tried a lot and this one is my favourite for authentic meat free Thai.
Read moreThe food is very fresh lots of veggies, not much oil and extremely tasty. Mostly not spicy actually I add chilli which is unusual for me in Thailand....I did say mostly. Some of the staff owners speak very good English. Options without TVP or tofu.
Shady garden setting friendly staff and quite inexpensive.
One not to miss if you are foodie! Mostly local customers so no mushroom burgers and fries here!

Wonderful Khao Soi (northern noodles dish with coconut curry). Plenty of pre-cooked options served on rice, and dishes for nibbling. Seats in shaded area with bamboo shutting out noice from traffic. Cheap, good, and clean. Have parking.

cheap vego food - Edit
I called into Vegetarian Thai Orchid for lunch today ... it's a basic Thai style family run vego restaurant (food cooked and displayed in an unheated bain marie) ... the restaurant is clean and has heaps of seating both inside the building and under the garden style awning ... I got a sampler plate of all the dishes in the bain marie plus rice ... the food was spicey abd delicious ... staff have good English and are very friendly and helpful

The real buddhist deal - Edit
Thank you Happy Cow for showing the mere mortal farrangs (like me) where the super gems of the buddhist veggie street food "restaurant" are hidden. All these "jai" places are so good, so cheap and - best of all - so untouched by the demands of western taste. This particular one I only visited once. We came 15.00 when they were about to close down. Guess the food would have been better a few hours earlier ...

excellent cheap food - Edit
minutes walk from Sri Phum corner, and away from all the tourist of the old city. This is a great cheap place to eat, plate of food for 40 bhat. There is no menu, just a buffet style selection all served on a bed of rice. Loads to chose from and all vegan/vegetarian. Well worth a visit for a spot of lunch then a walk around the fruit and veg market.

Best of CM - Edit
Ate there many times during my three month stay in CM. Most dishes are in fact vegan and absolutely delicious. There is also a great variety of tastes, from the traditional Thai curries to the tangy vegetable dishes. Staff are exceptionally friendly with the two owners speaking perfect English

Decent food for a dollar - Edit
2 toppings on a rice is 35 baht (1$). Be sure to take a couple of those to eat enough. Taste is good but not heaven.
Read moreKhao soi is good but did not feel any special about it. Thou I'm not experienced taster in khao soi to be fair.
Just 2 toppings out of 8 are vegetarian others are vegan.

Try the khao soi! - Edit
I ate here every day on my most recent trip to Chiang Mai. It's not fancy, but it's good, flavorful vegetarian food for super cheap. You can get two items from the lunch buffet with rice for only 35 baht, and they have incredible khao soi for 35 baht as well. I've had veggie khao soi from a couple of other places, but I think this place has the best one, and it's by far the cheapest.
Read moreYes, the portions are a bit small, but it's so cheap that you can just order two portions if you'd like. And the older lady who works here speaks great English, so no worries about any language barrier.
Also, it's pretty close to Muang Mai market, which is a great place to stock up on delicious tropical fruits! Definitely the cheapest market around.

Good vegan food - Edit
Selection with few dishes (about 6) served on rice. They have every day different food, sometimes also papaya salad. The portions are very small but is only 35 THB. The pumpkin curry and the morning glory are very tasty. Go before 12 or there will be only few things left. They also have noodle soup (I haven't tried it yet) and egg-based dishes. Take away salads, seaweed and soy snacks available. NO MSG!

Standard Thai veg options with a few nice bonuses. - Edit
I've stopped here several times on my way to go shopping at the big market just north of the US consulate. The food is always pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing, but there's always a nice variety of dishes, from greens to pumpkin to curries to fake meats, all served with black/purple rice. A plate of rice and 3 vegetables will cost you 35B; an extra deep fried bamboo and mushroom cake will set you back another ten but is well worth it!
Read moreThe market across the street is also well worth recommending! Coconuts for 10B each, roast sweet potatoes, fresh avocados, cashews...all sorts of great veg treats for prices far cheaper than you'd pay inside the city walls.
Pros: Dependably good food, quick service, Nice, shady outdoor dining
Cons: Ordinary (but in a good way!)

Good place - Edit
It's a good cafe with stable selection of dishes and pre-packed take aways. I really like the flavour of food there even though virually every dish is stuffed with fake meats (Yota is sponsoring).

Basic simple food - Edit
Standard glass case with multiple veg. options and some app. to choose from for lunch. They did seem to have some more traditional Thai items that Ive not seen in other lunch places. I had the noodle soup which was good and some stuff wontons which were excellent.
Read moreThe outdoor seating is pleasant and the staff was very nice.
Also, they are just a couple doors down from a very good health food store which has alot of hard to find items like tahini, stevia, etc.
Can be a little hard to find. Best to find the Presidents Hotel on a map. Its on the opposite side of the street about a 5 minute walk heading away from chang mai center.
Pros: good simple food, inexpensive, pleasant seating
Cons: limited hours

Food only OK, not a lot of selection - Edit
I've been here once, at lunchtime, and was underwhelmed by the small selection of green vegetables and tofu dishes. The food was OK, not great, and I wasn't inspired to come back. The seating area is garden-ish and nice, but this seems like a place where you're better off ordering the noodle soup!
