Very helpful staff for ordering vegan options - Edit
In search for some vegan food we stumbled upon Freiyas, which is conveniently located at the beginning of the city center. The vegetarian section on the menu is quite big, so we wanted to give it a try.
Read moreWe were seated and given a huge menu sheet. As we didn't know which menus could be vegan we asked the friendly waiter for dairy free options and he understood right away, explaining which menus are dairy free. As for the bread we also asked if they are egg free too. Luckily two of them were (wholemeal without dairy or eggs), so we ordered them along with our choses mains + some rice and samosas as an entreé.
We received two really big and nice tasting samosas from which one already could get saturated. Along came a reddish, not too spicy but rather sweet dip which suited the samosas well.
As a main we received a yellow dal and veges in a spicy sauce. As ordered the dal wasn't spicy but a bit tasteless, it was missing some salt, but nevertheless was very nice together with the rice and the roti bread. The veges in the sauce were very delicious, with the sauce being a big spicy but not too much, just as ordered. The bread (roti and naan) were really good, but we preferred the roti with its slightly sweet taste & fluffy texture.
Overall we were really happy to find this place, as everything was just right: the portions, the taste, the friendly and helpful service, the nice modern interior and not to forget the price. That said you should really think about ordering only one entreé for two, as we were oversaturated by having eaten those two big samosas each of us.
Not to forget: from most tables you'll have a look a the open kitchen where you can watch the chef cooking, with sometimes pans on fire :)
Pros: helpful staff, broad vegan options, tasty food
Cons: one dish wasn't seasoned enough
