Big temple restaurant - Edit
The food was good and I especially liked the cooked peanuts as a snack while waiting for my food.
Read moreFor me the restaurant is a little bit too big. I personally like smaller restaurants more.
But the restaurant is nice.
Pros: They seem to have also quite fancy food

Another Winning Restaurant in Xiamen - Edit
Zhu Yuan Ge is located in the Tianzhuyan Temple complex within Xianyue Park. The restaurant is large, clean, comfortable, and has a very traditional look. The menu is large, has pictures, and is written in both English and Chinese. I had a wheat gluten and mushroom dish. It was served in a heated dish and it was excellent. If you don't like your food spicy, you should let them know. I also had black sticky rice for desert, but this was much bigger than I imagined from the picture, so if you order this, bring friends. The restaurant is moderately priced, in line with Samadhi and Da Fang which are also good restaurants in Xiamen. This place is just a notch below Samadhi and gets a solid 4. Many of the temple buildings are being renovated but I definitely recommend the very active temple at the North end of the complex. If you don't want to climb the hill to the restaurant, have the taxi driver take you directly to the restaurant on Qiaoyue Rd. If you go by bus, the bus stop lets you off at the foot of the hill. You can walk East on Qiaoyue Rd. and you will eventually climb the hill up to the restaurant, or you can take the steps directly up the hill. The steps are a bit hard to find due to construction in the area. The restaurant is correctly located on the Happycow map.
