Wonder atmosphere and great food

This is vegan heaven. A beautiful environment with amazing staff, sensational food and drink. Poke bowl and smoothie bowls were the order of the day.

Pros: Atmosphere, Staff, Location

A bit pricier, but delicious and beautiful

Really good food (cheese platter!!), fantastic location, super friendly. A bit pricier for Bali standards, but we’ll worth it.

Delight for palate & eyes

Enjoyed the most delicious vegan meals & drinks in a magnificent open & lush restaurant - vibrant and cozy at the same time. Delicately flavoured & arranged with much detail. Kept going back for my tastebuds to explore the menu! Well worth it!

The cool factor

Zest feels like a place to be seen if that's your thing, but the food was pretty good too. The teriyaki banana blossom burger was yummy (although the mayo is made with coconut which I didn't like too much), the mushroom ribs were sticky and sweet, and the banana flour gluten free pizza crust was tasty although on the small side compared to other pizza places in town. Zest has some great ice cream and dessert options too.

Wonderful

Beautiful setting with a nice upscale feel, situated at the top of a hill overlooking town. Great view, great clean tasty food. Comes at a price. #Veganuary

Fantastic

Everything was fantastic. We ordered a bunch of things and split all. We could have skipped the Pizza. It was average at best. But all other food, drinks, ambiance and the music was awesome

Great Food and Atmosphere

The atmosphere here is really chilled, and the food menu is all vegan and extremely extensive!

On the pricier side, and we waited quite a while for food, but was not a problem as we were happy to escape the blistering sun for a few hours!

my all time favourite vegan place

I found this place by accident and came back a lot of times. I loved all the dishes I ordered and especially the mango passion bowl! Good for working remotely and a nice place to relax, take a nap etc.

Really nice service staff, My fav cafe in all of bali!

Pros: view, selection , atmosphere

Good views but food is overhyped

Not the best food and the portions are extremely small compared to the price. It is a big cafe tho so working there is very peaceful and the views are very big. Tbh i‘d probably rather go there for lunch/dinner then breakfast. My pancakes were nice but my friends waffels were kinda dry

Pros: Amazing views, Nice looking restaurant

Cons: Small portions, Expensive , Not the best food

Worst Vegan Food In Ubud

You pay for the view, NOT the food!

The food is poor—at best.

Bog-standard white bread for toast that tastes like stale carpet.

Cremated over fried potato wedges and hash browns that could crack a gold tooth.

Foreskin bacon.

A random onion ring on a breakfast?!

Yellow mash?!

Need I say more?

The menu is a joke, and potions are tiny.

But the view’s nice if you don't sit under the thunder of the extractor fan at the end of the restaurant.

Unimpressed :((

Was excited to try because of all the good reviews but were made to feel really unwelcome and food was really mixed. I had the burger which was ok but a bit lacklustre for the price and chips were tasteless. My friend had the “chicken of the forest” which was rich and tasty but overall felt quite unwelcome and ignored!

Pros: Fully vegan

Cons: Expensive

Breathtaking

The woman I sat next to on the plane wrote me a list of vegan places to try out in Bali but said I have to go to Zest
It was incredible, the views were beautiful, the structure was gorgeous and the food was absolutely amazing.
The whole experience was one that I would love to repeat and I recommend Zest to anybody visiting Bali, particularly vegans

Pros: Food offerings , Views , Price

ZERO STARS!!! Worst Vegan Food in Bali!

This was the worst experience we had in Bali!!! The chef here is not able to make good vegan food. We went to so many wonderful vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Bali and this was the absolute worst. The waffles were by default, for no reason, made gluten free. They were made with rice flour which made them tough and chewy instead of soft and fluffy. So many other vegan restaurants did waaaaay better!!! Their other food items also had wrong/tough texture and bad taste. I was really hoping it would be amazing given the menu sounds so exciting but it was so disappointing! Bali is a wonderful place for vegan and vegetarian food and this place ruins the experience. Also, I noticed there were so many people there barefoot even though the sign outside specifically said not to take your shoes off in the restaurant!!! Ultimately, this is was just a place for people who want to be stylishly vegan and “into the Eastern lifestyle” rather than a place that provides quality vegan food. Again, there are so many amazing vegan and vegetarian options in Bali but THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!!! Please skip and save yourself the disappointment!!

Pros: Ambiance

Cons: Food taste, Food texture, Barefoot customers

Too expensive and busy

This is a really big restaurant and can get busy at times. If you are like me and don't like too much stimulance around you and don't want too wait for food and drinks for over 40 minutes (it was busy), don't go here.
The food was amazing with taste, the portions were dissapointing, especially with the price (western prices; i get more at home with this price).

Pros: Fully vegan, Nice decor and seating

Cons: Small portions, Exspensive, Busy and long wait

Setting is better than the food

Amazing setting to eat and I would still recommend this place. Can’t say the food blew me away. The waffles were good but felt a bit like they’d been sitting around for a while. The bowl I ordered was majority lettuce and for that price I didn’t expect to leave still hungry. Delicious flavours just not enough.

Pros: Beautiful restaurant , Inventive menu

Cons: Portion size not reflective of the price, Food was average

Moringa medicine bowl was to die for

Yes it's pricey for the area but the food we ordered was well worth it. Try the mushroom pho or moringa rice bowl - they were both phenomenal. Full of flavour and enormous portions (we went for lunch and couldn't eat anything more than a few corn chips for dinner).

Maybe they would benefit from reducing their menu? It is pretty big and it seems like some other reviewers were left disappointed by more "standard" items like burgers. But the "medicine bowls" could be what they do best as I couldn't fault them.

The only thing I will say was it felt a bit crammed in there, but I did go during lunch rush in August, so that might be on me!

Cool concept poorly executed

I was thrilled to eat here. It's an imposing restaurant high on a hill and hard to reach, which increased my excitement. I came twice. The first time I asked my waitress to recommend something and she said, "I don't eat anything here, I hate vegan food." I laughed out loud. Very honest but not expected. I tried a veggie burger. It was ok. The brioche bun was nice but it had stringy bits that felt like hair in my teeth. I wanted dessert really really badly but I could not get anyone to take my order for an hour so I gave up. I came the next night and ordered the Caesar salad 2.0 and banana flour bread. I would not recommend either. The salad was on a plate, which didn't work, and it was 1/4 composed of croutons. I didn't find anything interesting or 2.0 about it. The bread was hard and inedible. I have had really great banana flour bread at several places, especially Usada, in town. The manager at Zest said gluten free bread is just hard and not easy to make. I disagree. They just don't have their recipe or formula down. I make better gluten free bread and I'm not a baker. Anyway, again I really wanted a drink and dessert but waited an hour and gave up! The restaurant is really pretty until sunset. I would go during daylight to see the trees outside and take in the view. Their pancakes and breakfast look great. So does the sushi. My experiences were both bad and I would not return for a year or so. Maybe they are not on it yet post COVID? Anyway both service and the food were no where near what I hoped for or on par with local restaurants that are cheaper and have better food.
