I had the noodles, which were very good. I might have also had rice.

Absolutely delicious Asian fusion cuisine! It’s been so long since I had Thai iced tea before finding this place. Great atmosphere and service too. The Peking duck buns are my favorite. Plus, there’s vegan sushi available on weekends!

Best all Around vegan option in Great Neck - Edit
This is basically an Asian-kosher restaurant with a Zen atmosphere. My food (steamed dumbplings and tofu & mushroom entree) were freshly prepared, though the dumplings were warm to cool in temperature when they arrived. They also offer wonderful hot teas, including beautiful ‘blooming’ teas. That with one of the scrumptious desserts would make a wonderful afternoon treat.

NOT A VEGAN RESTAURANT - Edit
UPDATE: As of 12/2022 still not entirely vegan despite what happy cow lists them as. They still offer at least one dessert that is not vegan and they also admit to this on their own menu.
Read moreWent here a few times and got a different story each time depending which staff you speak to about what dishes do and don’t contain animal products and gluten. This place does not take the term vegan seriously and I wonder if they even truly know what the term means.

How did I only just learn about this place?! - Edit
It's not typical to find almost entirely vegan restaurants on Long Island, and it also happens to be kosher, which is even rarer (many vegan restaurants don't feel it's worth the cost to pay for supervision from a rabbi).
Read moreAnyway, my mom and I ordered 5 dishes and 2 desserts, and my mom loved it so much that the very next day when she was picking up a friend from the airport, and the two of them went back and bought 3 more dishes and 3 more desserts and brought them back for us all. It's Asian fusion, so there's a big variety of dishes and I noticed that they even had some decidedly not-Asian cuisine (like burgers and guacamole) though I haven't tried any of those (yet).
100% will go back (though it is a little expensive, so maybe not too often).

Great service, cute place! - Edit
After hearing all the vegans rave about this place I finally got a chance to go on Valentines Day.
Read moreParking is an issue. You technically aren’t supposed to park in the big shopping plaza across the street but we did anyway (it was evening when we went).
The place is super cute inside. We had a cozy corner round booth.
Food: ok everything is vegan except for a few desserts which are clearly marked. Those are vegetarian.
The menu is extensive! It was Monday so I wanted to try. Unfortunately they were out of the purple rice and made the substitution without asking me. So I was confused when I got my order. The person who brought it to me didn’t understand what I was saying but someone else came over and explained and offered to take it back. Which I did do because I did not like it. They put a mango sauce on the roll which made it too sweet.
We ordered an appetizer platter (which we were told in advance they no longer had one of the items so they would double up on another). It was all fried stuff which was tasty. However since we were only two people I think itv was too much! I ate that and a small soup only.
Ok I lied I made room for dessert. That was incredible. I had to restrain myself from ordering one to go, it was so delicious. I had the chocolate enrobed strawberry “shortcake” - it’s not a shortcake it’s just a delicious cake so I’m not mad at the description not matching. 😂
I want to go back and try other items!
Pros: Extensive vegan menu, Delicious dessert, Good portion sizes, great service
Cons: Parking is a challenge , Some vegetarian (not vegan) desserts

Second time here. Different menu than first time. GF items no longer labeled on menu. Service was more friendly and better than the first time though. We ordered several dishes and shared but nothing really tasted that great or stood out for any of us. I would go back, but not as a first or second choice

A very attentive waitstaff, nice atmosphere and above average food, make Zen Garden a hit. The one negative is they have one dish with real egg in it. Why even offer that?

An excellent vegan restaurant - Edit
If you want to try Asian vegan meals that are chef prepared, and not standard fare, I think you would like this restaurant.
Read moreLet me say right at the outset that the prices are higher than if you go to an inexpensive vegan place because this is the true restaurant. But it is definitely affordable if you don't mind paying for a full dinner, for two hungry adults, with flower tea and an absolutely delicious homemade dessert, a total of about $80 including tip and tax. (There are dishes for less, also.) If you get the full dinner menu you can barely finish your plate because it's generous.
This is not a diner. It's a restaurant, and it feels like that. There is a touch of elegance, and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, and the service is wonderful. Parking is ample and the Great Neck LIRR station is next door.
I am a vegan for the animals and my spouse is plant based, and we consider this to be the best vegan restaurant around. You would have to go to Manhattan to find anything comparable.
Pros: Vegan, many selections, great desserts , A real chef cooks the meals
Cons: None
