Serves meat, vegan options available. Asian food bistro with vegetarian choices in nori rolls and Thai food. Vegans to specify. Reported closed Aug 2019.
My dish and my husband's dish were both very mediocre (I had veggie, he ate meat). Not much taste. Vegetables were fresh.
Also, when a customer who came back to complain that he was given tofu instead of chicken, the staff said he was lying and the bartender threatened to pull a gun on him.
The food was simply....ok. Nothing memorable. My friend had a soup, and said it the broth was bland (go to Umami for better soups). I had a curry dish the lunch portion was small and bland for a curry. not that the food was bad or to be thrown out, just nothing to go home and talk about.
If you are looking for a good vegan or vegetarian meal in Bangor, there are probably better options than Zen Asian Bistro and Thai Siam. There are a variety of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. However, the flavors (especially for Thai Siam), are not really outstanding. The atmosphere can be a little strange and not necessarily welcoming.
What more could we ask for? The dishes we had were fantastic: Pik Pow, Pad Thai, Tofu with Basil, and a Red Curry. The Curry was a bit too sweet fro our taste but the rest was just perfect.
Horrible. Fish sauce galore and hostile service. - Edit
Beware, all the ingredients are not listed on the curries. Almost all of the veg options contain fish sauce, and many noodle dishes come with egg. We expressed our desires to our server, and they were ignored. Fish sauce was present in our meal (we were told, "Don't eat it then".). Egg was served, and our server told us, "They don't list everything on the menu here". If you are vegan or veg, avoid this place.
