Great food, great vibe - Edit
Small place with very friendly staff. We went for Saturday dinner and it was all you can eat -- they serve you a plate at the counter and you can specify, ask for a mix, and ask for more as you like. They told us what was vegan as soon as we approached the counter. I liked everything! Several good dishes we recognized from other Ethiopian places -- yellow split peas, spiced red lentils, cabbage, green beans and carrots. The green lentils were a special treat, as was a spicy potato dish.
Read moreA real family vibe. Very enthusiastic welcome when we came in from the woman who seems to be the owner/head chef. She and other staff came around while we were eating to ask how things were. We were there at 5:30pm (pretty early!) and the six or so tables were full with families.
Brought our teen exchange student with us and it was a great first experience of Ethiopian food for her! She enjoyed being able to try a little bit of things at her pace and go back to ask for more of what she liked.
Pros: Quality food, Friendly atmosphere, Affordable
Cons: Not fully vegan

Absolutely great - Edit
I ordered the vegetarian platter and in addition to all the food being absolutely incredible, the portions were incredibly generous and so reasonably priced.

Delicious! - Edit
Place is very simple but food was amazing! We have had Ethiopian food near where we live and this was way superior. Everything was so delicious. We asked for the food to be served traditional style with the various vegan foods on top of the injera (a type of soft crepe like bread). Injera is made from fermented teff, a grain that is highly nutritious.

Love it here! Their Friday/Saturday buffet is all vegan and delicious. All of their vegan dishes are amazing as is their injera. Seriously though, I have never had a bad meal here. I would recommend everything on the vegan menu

So amazing, Zemeta will make you feel right at home - Edit
Owned by a wonderful Ethiopian woman whom the restaurant is named after, this place is cozy, delicious, and a great value. There are plenty of vegetarian/vegan options including the vegetarian platter which is less than $10 and could feed two! Give it a whirl you won’t be disappointed.

Probably the best Ethiopian food in Rochester - Edit
I have enjoyed several Ethiopian restaurants in Rochester, but if I had to choose one, it would probably be Zemeta. The staff is so friendly and the restaurant is cozy. The food is wonderful and the portions are huge.
Read moreThe Vege Platter comes on a big platter with plenty of extra injera and some tasty selections ranging form regular salad to spicy lentils and tasty chickpeas. Also yellow lentils, potatoes and more.
{For those of you who do not like injera, just stop thinking of it as clammy "bread". It is not supposed to be bread. If you think of it as a cool sourdough pancake to be used to scoop up deliciousness, you will be much happier. Lets get with the program, folks!}
As with any ethnic restaurant, you can tell it is authentic by looking around the room. If so many Ethiopians like it, they must be doing something right.
They have a vege buffet on Friday nights. Better call to make sure. Check them out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Zemeta-Ethiopian-Restaurant-602671806431768/
