Good tasting food and authentic surroundings - Edit
Really liked the food here, they do plant based chicken, prawns or simply tofu. Menu doesn't have vegan labels on the food though which is an issue for those less knowledgeable on what is vegan and what isn't. Would be a difficult place to eat for more... anxious eaters?

Good food and nice drinks - Edit
Good Thai food option in the city centre - has a separate vegan / vegetarian menu . I had the drunken noodles which were good but not amazing. My metamor had a massamam curry which she really liked. We also had cocktails , the blue on I can’t remember what was in it! I forgot the name of mine but it was like a martini with passion fruit , vanilla vodka and shot of Prosecco. Good go to if you are with non veggie people. Cool decor too - mimicking a Thai street food market and having been to one I can say it is realistic! ☺️

Cons: Could have been more flavourful , Long wait - but it was Friday evening.

My favourite Thai place in Leeds - Edit
I’ve been coming here for years and always loved it so I’m surprised at the bad reviews.
Read moreOn arrival you’re asked about allergies but admittedly the menu is vegetarian. However I’ve always found the staff helpful and informative when it comes to altering the dish.
I ordered the massaman curry with the plant based prawns and edamame beans. The curry is creamy and flavourful and I really enjoyed the plant based prawns. If the Venue was fully vegan I’d give 5stars but I can live in hope.
I love the street food decor and the overall vibe, the food never disappoints me and I’ll continue to come back when visiting Leeds.
Pros: The alternative options, tofu, chicken, prawn, The friendly staff, The reasonable prices
Cons: The lack of a clear vegan menu, The toilets aren’t particularly welcoming

Absolute rubbish - Edit
Have 0 idea why people hype this up. The food is utter cr*p and they have no knowledge or care about vegan requirements. Don't bother.

Wouldn’t go again! - Edit
Had been previously to zaap at the York restaurant when I was vegetarian so was excited to try their vegan stuff.
Read moreNothing on the menu is labelled as vegan, which was so confusing. Was given a vegetarian menu and told firstly that anything could be made vegan. So when we actually ordered starters, we were told only the steamed dumplings were vegan and nothing else could be made vegan.
We got the dumplings. They weren’t special, lacked flavour and were so wet and soggy.
For mains we got a green Thai curry with tofu and a massaman with tofu. They arrived quickly and were big portions, however the flavours didn’t excite me. Was very watery and didn’t have much spice.
Felt like I’d had many better Thai curries. The massaman was the better of the two, however, the potato in it wasn’t cooked.
Expensive for what it was.

Nottingham is better - Edit
I tried the one in Leeds and its quite bland and watery. The potatoes in my curry were RAW. Very disappointed as I thought the food would be consistent.

Amazing food! - Edit
I went to Zaap Thai in York and loved it so it was great to come here and try more things on the menu. Extensive seating outdoors and indoors which is lovely for the summer time. Food was delicious and service was friendly and quick. You get a good portion for the price you pay too, could not recommend more!

Best vegan Chicken I ever had! - Edit
Mind-blowing authentic vegan chicken. We had Gang Massaman and Pad Gratium Prik Thai and it was amazingly good. The big roof made it possible to sit outside in the rain.

I looove it here - Edit
As much as I prefer to support local vegan businesses - Zaap is one of my favourite places to go that isn’t strictly vegan. I love the decor inside find the atmosphere to be really nice, lovely to go for with friends or on dates. I love that they do cocktails and I find the effort going into the decorations (like the actual coconut cup to drink piña coladas from) really cute 💖
Read moreI find prices reallly reasonable too and was glad to find another when I went to York :)))
Pros: One of the best Thai curries I’ve had, Beautiful decor, Reasonable prices

Menu maths required - Edit
This was a long awaited visit to Zaap. It’s been in Leeds years now but I’ve only just managed to drag my feet to the very top end of town to give it a try.
Read moreThe staff are very friendly and the welcome was very warm (temperature checked on entering as per COVID regs, so not to warm we got refused).
The menu is busy to say the least. A massive amount of options on there although I was surprised to see no key for vegan options. They had the standard V for veggie but nothing at all for vegan. After breading as much of the menu as my little brain could take I discovers that it’s probably not worth them listing something that doesn’t overly exist. To make the dishes vegan they pretty much all require some kind of adjustment of substitution. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m no princess and I don’t mind this, I think I just thought it would be a tad easier.
I made my choice, minus the egg, and opted for pretty much veg and noodles. It came with a side of lime which give it a nice twist. The portion size was good and I left full.
I don’t think I will make the long walk there again though, the staff and atmosphere was lively and friendly, however, the menu was a bit of hard work and whenever I told the non-vegan options out I ended up with the same result. Rice or noodles with veg.
They do have soup and salad options along with some sides.
Pros: Smells great, Tastes great, Quick, friendly service
Cons: No vegan key on the menu, Bit pricey

Found pork in my food - Edit
The curry I had tasted great but it was really disappointing to find a piece of pork in my food. I've heard from other vegan friends that this is a common theme here, apparently they just cook everything in the same wok.

Amazing authentic Thai Street food - Edit
Although things weren't labelled as vegan it was pretty easy to work out what was vegan, and you could ask if unsure. Multiple options and fried tofu available for the mains. The food tasted amazing and I cannot wait to go back. Full of flavour and the tofu was delicious too.

Cons: Not labelled as vegan on the menu
