Big Portions - Edit
The food here tastes amazing and the portions are huge. My only two complaints is it can get a little pricey and I wish they had vegan cream cheese wontons or a vegan po po platter. Other then that this place is great if your in the mood for chinese.

Not good - Edit
We had terrible stomach aches after eating here. Mine came after an hour and husband shortly after. We were sick the next day with digestive issues. :(

Is it possible you and your husband are somewhat gluten intolerant and didn't know? I, personally, can tolerate wheat well most of the time. Things like bread and pasta are fine, but when vital wheat gluten is a primary ingredient I can get pretty sick. Some of the "meats" my friends and I got seemed a little seitan-y, but I didn't actually ask what they were made of. Anyway, just a thought ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Sorry you did not have a good experience here.

Excellent food - Edit
The restaurant was clean and well-staffed. Very attentive service and amazing food with attention to detail. Each dish was served quick and hot with a smile. The restrooms were clean and spacious and the restaurant itself had a very open feel. We had the veggie pork fried rice, veggie kung pao chicken, spring roll house beef noodle, and sour soup and veggie shrimp. We ended our meal with a delicate Sesame ball and beautiful scoop of vanilla coconut ice cream.

"we all got sick" I am concerned - Edit
I think the food was very delicious and plentiful.
Read moreHowever, I think by the next day I might have gotten sick.
My stomach felt weird all day with the feeling you get when you are seriously hungry. I've ate and the pain/uncomfortable feeling didn't leave. I had the #4 combination plate.
Pros: All Vegan
Cons: something off the next day after eating the food.

Veggie chicken - Edit
Me and my SO picked up this on our way home and we were so happy with the veggie chicken that we almost went back for more. The egg rolls were also a star all on their own. We will definitely be going back.

Good food - Edit
The food here was excellent. The "beef" was eerily beeflike, so I prodded and inspected it to make sure it wasn't actually beef. The chicken wasn't as spot on, but the flavor and texture was great.

The food was tasty and we were stoked about the all vegan menu. But the next day my husband and I were super sick. We had the Thai vegan hot pot.

Delicious, fast, friendly fare - Edit
Ordered General Tso's chicken and Hot & Sour Soup, both excellent and brought out in record time. Best part was when couple sat next to me and the husband, who was not even vegetarian, and was a first-time diner at Yuan Su, exclaimed to the server how wonderful the food was, that he was astounded the dish was not meat, and that he did not miss animal products one bit. I also like that when you are seated, the server tells you up front that everything is vegan. No guesswork involved.

kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, an eggroll and barbecued pork with hot mustard was amazing! just like i remember from all those years ago, dinner special #2 in a funky building formerly a nightclub perhaps? decent service with super nice people running the place. happy to find openly described "chinese food" in a crowded town of delicious hipster joints. lots of parking.
Read morePros: parking is easy, vast menu to choose from
Cons: cold inside, big airy place, needs a bit more attention from the wait staff.

Great service, good food - Edit
I haven't had restaurant-style Chinese food in quite a while because the menu options are often so limited, or because I need things to be substituted or left out. Not so with this menu. I can eat EVERYTHING here!
Read moreI scoped this place out while grocery shopping in Portland after work and ordered some potstickers and the #2 dinner combo (spring roll, ham fried-rice, bbq pork, kung pao chicken). The potstickers were fine, not quite what I was used to flavor-wise, but nice and crisp on the bottom and not soggy. The bbq pork was almost exactly what I remember the meat version tasting like years ago, and the texture was also very close - definitely something I would eat an entire order of by myself, complete with lots of hot mustard. The fried rice was also very tasty, with veggies that weren't mushy. The kung pao chicken had real vegetables which I enjoyed, but it wasn't really very spicy and the veg chicken itself wasn't the greatest, so I kept to the veggies because they were good. And while spring rolls aren't really authentic Chinese food, the spring roll I had with my meal was fresh, hot, and delicious and I could eat five of them.
Overall, if I could give this place 4.5 stars, I would. I will definitely be coming back!

good flavors, texture not so great. - Edit
I've been vegetarian my whole life and have been to many of these types of Asian vegan places, I ordered the Dinner combo #1 ( the sweet & sour chicken has been fried already and the batter is so crunchy it's almost like a yummy rock! Very hard to eat it, the beef broccoli has such yummy flavors, texture of the beef is a bit too chewy, ham fried rice is amazing,. Potstickers are my favorite, better than most I've had.

SO HAPPY - Edit
I was so happy to find a vegan Chinese place! I used to love fried rice and thought I was doomed to make my own since nearly all Chinese places include meat and/or egg. I've enjoyed everything so far and plan to go back as much as I can afford. They definitely seem to need more business so don't hesitate to visit. They even asked for feedback since I was a new customer and made sure I knew it was vegetarian (one employee said she was vegan too :)

The most delicious Vegan Chinese Ever! - Edit
This is my children's favorite go-to restaurant. There are many things I love at this restaurant. For appetizers the spring rolls are a must, better then any other spring rolls I've had. My second favorite is the Veggie BBQ pork, it's a smaller portion for the price, but it's better then actual BBQ Pork. It's insane how similar the textures and tastes are (and that can go for all the meat substitutes) The only appetizer I'm not a huge fan of at this point is the mushroom roll, and I'm obsessed with mushrooms, it's not what you would think, but it's worth trying once.
Read moreAs for the rest of the menu, all the combinations are delicious, so If you're new I would recommend trying those to start, but in addition to that my favorite is the Veggie Spareribs with pepper sauce (this is not what it seems, it's little deep fried bits mixed with lightly pan friend bell peppers with pepper, not a sauce, but still it's delicious. Other favorites: Curry Veggie Chicken in hot Pot, Hawaii Fried Rice, House Special Chow Mein ( I get mine with extra sauce and cooked longer), Veggie Ham Fried Rice, Veggie Chicken with Cashews, Teriyaki veggie chicken (sliced with sauce/not a huge serving), Broccoli beef with cashews (the beef tends to be the one thing that meat eaters aren't super fond of, but they still like it) I've taken A LOT of vegans and non-vegans to this restaurant! Hope this helps!
Pros: Menu Selection and Variety, Quality & Flavor-Better then most, Location/Easy Parking
Cons: Closed Sundays, Serving Size (some dishes) are small, most decent, No Pictures on Menu

amazing new vegan discovery - Edit
The food is authentically flavored Chinese vegan food. There are a large multitude of choices, the dishes are reasonably priced, the service was very prompt, and the staff were friendly and eager to answer our questions - thus our 5 star rating. We look forward to visiting again and trying additional entrees.

Lots of heavy veggie meats, fried dishes and plenty of options. While heavy food and veggie meat are not generally my favorites, when I'm in the mood for it I don't think this place could be beat. The service was excellent and there is a lot to chose from. The combo meals are great. It's all way too much food.

Best Vegan Chinese Food! - Edit
My Husband brought me "Chicken" Chop Suey , chow mein & Rice. From this place Yuan Su Vegt. It was SOOO Good! Honestly, I've tried Chinese food & vegan Chinese at various places. None, compare to this good. It's probably because they add lots of veggies. It's my Top Best Vegan Chinese ever! The only fault found was its oil content. I will ask for low oil or none if possible. Will visit soon..

Cons: oily
