Best Chinese Food - Edit
This place just gets better and better. The food is DELICIOUS, I've yet to try a single item that I haven't loved (and I'm slowly going through the menu). Pekin duck, crispy black mushrooms, singapore rice noodles, pumpkin duck with mushrooms in hot pot, and tan tan noodles are my go-to.
Read moreThe staff is so friendly and attentive, they make you feel right at home. The restaurant is pretty modest, and my mom (vegetarian) and dad (omni) fully refused to go with me a decade ago after walking in and walking right out. Now that I'm fully vegan and they have fewer choices if they want to eat out with me they've given it a go and we've gone together several times already in the past few months. Win!
Pros: 100% vegan, Delicious, Friendly

Best vegan Chinese - Edit
I’ll start this review off by saying how incredible the staff/servers are here. They were attentive, and so friendly. I got better service here than most upscale restaurants. I found this restaurant thanks to Happy Cow. The outside can be misleading, but some of the best places are. Their menu is entirely vegan, and extensive. Some the entrees are sectioned by the type of mock meat (duck, chicken, beef, etc.) The best Chinese food I’ve had. I highly recommend this place, vegan or not.

Fast service and good food. We really enjoyed the Triple Fry dish (fried eggplant, faux meat, and mushrooms -- delicious!!) and the fried mushroom appetizer. Spinach pancakes were bland.

You need to eat here - Edit
This place is awesome. 100% vegan cuisine freshly made and almost no oil in these dishes. My friends and I dined here on a whim and were so impressed we decided to make it a regular spot. We ordered the seaweed salad- best I’ve had in my life!! Curry dumplings amazing, duck rolls with tofu skin- incredible, spinach pancake s were perfect, spring rolls were crispy and delightful and the taro balls were so fun!!! We ordered the pineapple chicken/ but subbed broccoli instead of chicken it was light sweet and delicious, the mushrooms asparagus dish was incredible, the mushrooms were fried and tasted just like calamari! The chef special with the lotus root was crisp and light and so yummy, the Lo menu had hand made noodles, and the basil hot pot was incredible!! The pictures online do this place no justice. It is AMAZING. Oh, and if you order coconut water they bring you a freakin coconut with a straw in it. Hands down, best vegan Chinese food you will find anywhere

Get the Kung Pao Chicken and thank me later! - Edit
I am super close to this place and I find myself eating here probably more often then I should!
Read moreThe owners of this place are always kind and happy to suggest options if you don’t know what you want. They have a lunch special during the week, where you can 3 grab pre selected items off the hot bar with white or brown rice for a really affordable price.
I love their spring rolls, crispy duck and Kung pao chicken or general tso chicken! The kung pao is more of a seitan while the general tso is wheat gluten. Be upfront about them with what you prefer for texture so they have suggest something you will like. Also the fried eggplant is really tasty too with the brown sauce. I’ve brought a handful of meat eaters and vegetarians to this place and they’ve all enjoyed it.

Our favorite asian restaurant in the area - Edit
We lived in Rockville for two years and a half and were thrilled to find Yuan Fu. Their food are so good! Our favorite were the curry "meatballs", and the roasted "duck", but we tried many other things and were never disappointed. Staff was also very friendly and always very nice with our three kids. We don't live in Rockville anymore and are too far to go, but we will miss this place and make sure to return when we are in the area.

good food and awesome staff - Edit
This is a great family sit down restaurant. I love the food in the center family shared style. Staff is the best and always super happy. I had a friend need to make a few bathroom runs shortly after eating though. one of the times I went I did the same. I thinker it may be from the deep fried options but I cannot say for sure. I preffer baked and less oil.

Disappointed and hoping it was an off day - Edit
On a recent trip to Maryland, I checked this place out. Vege Chinese is my favorite food in the world. I dream it. So after not being able to get to such a restaurant for the last 2 years and after reading the reviews, I was super pumped to try this place out.
Read moreWe were in a rush so we ordered takeout, but we figured that we might as well try something out while we're waiting. So we ordered a cold appetizer. 1 minute later The veggie duck-cilantro rolls were ready and they were glorious! The flavor and the amount of bean curd skin stuffed into the rolls was magical. It didn;t even need the sauce!
After gobbling them up we realized that we still had time on our hands, so we decided to order a few more appetizers. The "Sweet&Sour cucumbers" were exactly what they sound like, asian-style pickles, nothing more and nothing less. The "crispy black mushrooms" was very good. The sauce was very strong and I would have prefered it with some rice, but the texture was like the vege eel I've had at now defunct places like "Bamboo Garden" and "Veggie Heaven" in NYC. After warming up with apps we were stoked to try the main dishes when we got back to my friends place.
Unfortunately, we were in for a dissapointment. The curry meatballs had an odd softish texture and while it had a good selection of veggies, they were mostly overcooked. The "string beans & Shitake Mushrooms Szechuan style" was bland and almost all string bean with barely any mushrooms. The Kung Pao beef was the only main dish we agreed was solid, with a pretty good sauce and a savory vege meat.
After waiting a few years for a good vege chinese meal, and trying the awesome appetizers here, I was sorely disappointed by the mains. On the bright side the service was fast and very friendly. The place was nice with a small, comfortable, and homey feel to it and the other tables seemed to be loving what they ordered.
I'm hoping that they had an off day and that the quality went down from reheating it. Although not overly enthused, I would try this place again and hope for better results next time.
Pros: Fast Friendly service at affordable prices, Really good appetizers, Good portions on Main Dishes
Cons: Main dishes lacked flavor/creativity

It’s my go to vegan restaurant in Maryland. Even my non-vegan relatives love their food. They have a variety of different vegan foods, including meatless meats such as chicken, beef, pork and duck. It’s 100% vegan, the staff is super friendly and you never have to wait too long. Also, it tends to be very quiet and not crowded at all. I would recommend their chicken alternatives and noodle soups (and the Chinese sausage).

So good - Edit
This place is delicious. I literally wanted to cry the first time I went here, because it was that good and it's also one of very few all vegan restaurants anywhere near the area. I've been a few times and almost everything I've gotten has been delicious. I do like the faux chicken more than the faux beef/pork, which is just strips of seitan that aren't amazing on their own. Prices are pretty good for lunch (you get two entrees and an appetizer for like $12 or so), and the service is always great.

I have been coming here for over 10 years and never been disappointed. The ladies running this place are so welcoming and super efficient. The place is small and comfy. The food selection is incredible and of course I have many favorites like: roast duck, tea smoked goose, spinach pancakes, orange beef, duck in hot pot, Kung pao chicken. All so yummy vegan. Also love the fresh carrot and the melon juice.

Fresh, tasty, fast and healthy! I subscribe to the “just because it’s vegan doesn’t mean it’s healthy” philosophy. And this place keeps it real! Their steamed dishes are incredibly delicious and packed full of flavor. I particularly love the steamed “chicken” and veggies. So good! My wife and I are regulars and the staff is always so friendly! It’s family owned and operated and it’s clear they take great pride in their food and service. I highly recommend this place!

i went there twice during my one week stay in dc area. i loved there food, its seriously good and authentic. they use different mock meats to do dishes with duck, chicken etc. i liked the experience, wouldn’t want to know too well what the replacements include though. all in all great experience, good food and for a very reasonable price.

Not bad - Edit
I had a few things, veggies, rice, tofu, fried eggplant and the watermelon juice. The juice was awesome! If you like naturally sweet, get this. Food was good. It could have used more flavor. Tofu texture was a bit soft for me but flavor could have balanced that out. I added a little soy to mine and that helped.

Good veggie Chinese options. - Edit
I am currently living in China and constantly miss the Peking "duck" from Yuan Fu! One of my last meals in the states was here with my vegan parents specifically for that dish. We all find it very funny that one of the things I miss most in China is an American Chinese restaurant's vegan Peking "duck," but it's seriously delicious.
Read moreI've had hit-or-miss experiences here. Sometimes things are over or under cooked, but usually my meals are flawless and the waitstaff is incredibly sweet. The wonton soup is just okay. The menu is pretty extensive. Omnivores and vegans alike can find something to indulge in. The seitan and tempeh is front-and-center in most dishes here, so they specialize in meatless meat dishes. If you are SOS-free like my parents, you will probably find very little here that is suitable and nothing if you follow a raw diet.
Overall, the food is always decent and priced suitably for what you get. The Chinese style of food sharing is probably the best way to experience this restaurant as that way you can try so many different flavors!
I would recommend it for a try!
Pros: Suitable pricing, Friendly staff, Tasty meat substitutes
Cons: hit-or-miss

As a vegan, it was odd to order Kung Pow chicken and then eat a dish that was very convincing as the real thing. Perfect for new vegans or vegan veterans who want something different.
