Veganized a lot for me

The staff was very kind and patient with me while we found items to make fully vegan. There were already a few options that were vegan. The staff was very knowledgeable about vegan and not vegan and even warned me about fish sauce in some dishes. Highly recommend.

They served me meat

While I have enjoyed going here in the past, after an incident today I will never, ever return. I ordered the mixed vegetarian dumplings, and the server put in and served me the chicken and shrimp version of the dish. Since the chicken was all minced up, I didn’t realized until I bit into the shrimp dumpling. When I asked, the server argued with me that meat is included in the vegetarian dish, until another server came and mediated the dispute. The server eventually apologized. They didn’t charge me for that dish, but still charged me for the spring rolls. I am so incredibly disturbed and upset by this. Not only did they feed me meat, but tried to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Ugh that’s nasty of them to argue, and annoying that they made the mistake in the first place

There are better noodle houses in New Haven

I want to love York Street Noodle House, but they're very hit-or-miss for me. Food quality is different with each visit.

Sometimes their food is really delicious, and sometimes it's a greasy mess with no flavor. I usually get the spicy wok basil noodle with tofu.

Their kimchi and veggie dumplings are frozen from a bag (I only know this because they're the same ones I buy from H Mart in Flushing). I'm assuming all of their dumplings are like this.

On one visit, I ordered the veggie dumpling & tofu noodle soup. I was assured it was vegan with a veggie-based broth. Received the order and it was chicken broth (greasy and yellow), okay no big deal I'll just send it back. But they gave me a hard time insisting that it was veg, when it was clearly chicken (a friend of mine ordered a soup that came with the chicken broth and they were identical, friend tasted both and said so). They were very rude and nasty about the entire ordeal.

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Rude staff

Authentic, but disconcerting

We ordered the dumpling soups off the vegetarian menu which were good, but I was left feeling pretty disconcerted after my dad ordered Kimchi dumplings off the same vegetarian menu and found meat in them. They don’t speak great English there, so it was hard to confirm whether options were vegan or not. Overall would recommend to my non vegan or vegetarian friends who don’t have to worry about meat or animal products.

Pros: Very authentic food, Inexpensive

Cons: Not vegan/vegetarian

Few vegan options, but very good food! Prices are very cheap for what you get, and the service was great.

Best noodle soup I've ever had!

Not only are their soups bursting with umami flavor, but they are also half the price of other places and double the deliciousness!

I also got the veg sampler and loved the steamed bun. Plus, bubble tea makes me very happy. ^_^
