Great Vibes and Even Better Desserts - Edit
Just had lunch at Yi Ke Shu in Tanjung Bungah. It's not my first time here. The food still holds up to the usual standard. Great vibe. I’d say their desserts are better than the mains.

Also tried a cake for dessert which was delicious.
The price is higher than street food but that’s to be expected.
Highly recommend.

Absolutely tasty everything, myself and my wife went in very hungry and tried a few starters, cannot fault any dish. 90% of the menu is vegan, a lot of options. #Veganuary

Cosy and hearty - Edit
My first time here, and I’m delighted to find out that they have gotten a decent selection of vegan options (which is hard to find in Penang). I love the homemade tofu and their kimchi don. The vegan blueberry cheesecake is also really good!

Good food, Terrible Service - Edit
The food is good but service needs some work. My wife loves tempeh and saw it on their menu before going. We ordered the tempeh burger but were given something else instead. I asked for the burger and the waitress and owner told me this is what we ordered for you. I explained that I had ordered something else but they told me again, “but I pushed the button for this sandwich so this is what I can give you sorry. I forgot to order the burger.” I explained how it is not my fault for their mistake. It’s only a 3 dollar sandwich, my wife would like to eat here probably every day but I will not return if you don’t want to give me what I ordered. Unfortunately they told me again we pushed the wrong button if you would like the burger you may order it as well. It’s too bad they would not correct a simple mistake and lose a repeat customer.

Mostly (maybe even all?) vegan! - Edit
Seemed like the menu was vegan, but I didn’t check thoroughly. Anyways, I got the burger with fried mushroom and tempeh, and it was delicious!! Highly recommend for whenever you want a Western food fix. Friendly service, cute decor, comfortable and spacious.

One of the best vegan place! - Edit
Very nice ambience, friendly customer service, clean and cute environment! We ordered a salad, homemade burger, red rice, lotus soup and vegetable soup (both soups superb 👌🏻👌🏻) For desert we ordered a fruit yogurt, a vegan pecan cheesecake, vegan blueberry cheesecake, vegan mocha cake and a vegan passion cake all tastes legit! Overall fantastic restaurant, worth coming!

Loved this place! - Edit
I was introduced to this restaurant by friends when they came to visit Penang. They had a lot of great vegetarian and vegan options. I liked their mix of Western and Asian foods; lots of variety to satisfy everyone's tastes. My kids loved the food, too!

Great Place - Edit
We were staying in Tanjung Bungah for 9 nights and needed a vegan friendly place in walking distance to go to for lunch every day. The excellent nearby Permai Village Cafe had recently closed after 6 years, and so we were excited to see that this new vegan friendly place had just opened up to take its place. Yi Ke Shu is vegetarian, however many menu items are either vegan or can be made vegan (the menu states to let the staff know if you don't consume dairy or eggs). It offers a selection of western options like pizzas, sandwiches, pockets, burgers, pastas, and pancakes, as well as more traditional Asian rice and noodle options. It was really great to see their delicious cakes marked as vegan (the blueberry cheesecake is a must!). The veggie soup is made from scratch without stock or starch (and seemingly no oil) and is an exceptionally good choice for the health conscious (and the silken tofu that comes in the soup is divine). They have brown rice too which was also great to see. We can also recommend the pumpkin sandwich. The Japanese mash potato is vegan and oil free and can be substituted for the french fries if you are health conscious. Overall, very nice environment and relaxing place, with lovely staff who speak enough English to help you veganize the menu.
