Loved it

First place I've been that has tofu scramble and chia pudding as breakfast options. Really nice place, great food and super friendly staff.

Lovely hotel, adequate food

I stayed here on a yoga retreat. The hotel was lovely and has a great yoga studio with lovely views, but it was let down by the food which was quite stodgy and felt a bit old fashioned. This was a couple of years ago (2018) so maybe it has improved!

Pros: Location, Comfortable rooms, Great yoga studio

Cons: Stodgy food

Wonderful Guest House Catering For Vegans Exceptionally Well

Yewfield is a family owned guest house and is an imposing building set in eighty acres of grounds, in a very quiet location, so if peace and getting away from it all are your thing, it is perfect. Yewfield is ideal for walkers, with lots of walks setting off right from the front door and Hawkshead village is only a short distance to either walk or drive. There are self catering apartments to the rear of Yewfield, if you prefer to do your own thing and we will consider staying here in the future, as we also like self catering.

We booked three nights to celebrate hubby's birthday and our wedding anniversary, staying in Vale View, a suite at the front of the house with amazing views over the valley. Vale View is a beautiful room with a big bed, sofa and seating area, large TV, music system and DVD player, tea and coffee facilities and a huge bathroom with massive jacuzzi bath and walk in shower, just the ticket after a long day walking.

Due to Covid you order breakfast the night before, via a website link sent prior to your visit, which worked well throughout our stay and you dine in either the beautiful panelled dining room or conservatory. There is a good selection of breakfast options, including continental and cooked breakfast, with oat, almond and soya milk and vegan spread available. The food was delicious, the porridge with maple syrup was exceptional, so much so we had it every morning and hubby loved the scrambled tofu and had that every day too.

There is a guest lounge where you can read or just chill out and relax and I bet its lovely in winter with a roaring fire. On the first floor landing there is a seating area, with a selection of DVD's to watch and a guest fridge with a selection of plant milks and jugs to take to the room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Yewfield, we had a great time, even though the weather was torrential rain for our three days there and will definitely revisit. Highly recommended.

Pros: Vegans catered for, Plant milks & vegan spread

Loved staying in Rowan & the delicious breakfast

Beautiful rural setting. Yewfield caters well for vegans. Rowan is a self-catering unit in Yewfield’s former stables not far from the main building. Recently refurbished, spacious & very comfortable. Off-season Rowan is available on a b&b basis. Breakfast was excellent. There was a vegan main course as well as porridge, fruit salad & home baked bread. Yewfield is about 4.5 miles from Ambleside town centre. Ideal for walking & cycling though you need a reasonable level of fitness to cycle back up Hawkshead Hill from Ambleside direction. If you are looking for a beautiful rural location with some lovely walks, this is ideal.

Pros: Excellent breakfast , Lovely nearby walks, Comfortable accommodation

Cons: Less convenient for Ambleside town centre, Mobile phone signal was variable

Just Amazing

Have just returned from a 3 night break in the Vale View suite. What a fabulous place. Lovely room, spectacular location, friendly staff. Good value package included a 3 course meal in each of their vegetarian restaurants in Ambleside. The breakfasts were about the best we've had anywhere. Covid 19 measures meant rather than a buffet breakfast, you selected online what you wanted with a choice of time slots, done the day before. I much preferred this & it worked really well. The food was outstanding, fresh and delicious, plenty of vegan options. The walks from the hotel were lovely, a quick half hour stroll across the fields took you to Hawkshead and a longer walk around Tarn Hows gave stunning views. We will definitely return.

Pros: Lots of delicious vegan food

Cons: None!

Fantastic

We spent a lovely Easter weekend at Yewfield. We chose this guesthouse because we wanted somewhere that would cater to vegans, and they did not disappoint! There was so much choice for breakfast - we didn't miss out on anything (even getting scrambled tofu in place of eggs!). We were in the Juniper room, which was fantastic - plenty of space, a sofa, and a super-cute barn door where you could opt to just have the top half open (although this was maybe better suited to warmer months!). The guesthouse is situated within some beautiful surroundings. You can see some amazing views just by stepping out of the door, and they have a number of recommended walks around their grounds, and into the National Trust area nearby. Just be warned, we had no signal - so if you want to call a taxi to go out in the evening, it is best to book in advance when you're out and about during the day! (Also, my husband could get on the wifi in the room but I couldn't.)

Pros: Beautful Location, Vegan breakfast!, Lovely rooms

Cons: No mobile signal, Wifi doesn't always work
