Great for veg/omni mixed groups - Edit
Great option if you have meat-eaters who don't want to go to "a vegan restaurant". Clearly labelled vegan options (a full separate vegan menu) and the vegan and meat food are practically identical, with the protein being the only difference, as far as I can tell.
Read moreI got the general tso vegan and it was tasty, filling, and did not disappoint. Lots of sauce added to the "meat" and veg dish but once brought home and put on a plate with the rice (included in a separate container), you could choose how much to pour onto of your meal.
I chose this place over others in the area for take-away as it had the most dedicated vegan menu and I wanted to support. I'm glad I did!
Pros: Separate vegan menu, Good number of options

Amazing soup! - Edit
A lot of vegan options, with both tofu and multiple fake meats available. The Bun Bo Hue soup is fantastic and so are the rice wraps. Make sure to scroll to the vegan section of the menu!

Still amazing! - Edit
I've been going here for years, back when it was Asian Stars. Seems like they've kept much of the menu the same. My dad says the soup is identical😄Really enjoyed the orange chicken. The plant meat is a little different, but still extremely delicious. I'm so glad! 😁

INCREDIBLE Vegan Vietnamese Restaurant! - Edit
I heard about this place from my friend and wow, I am shocked it isn't talked about more!
Read moreYes! Mama Kitchen has an entire vegan menu about 2-3 pages in length. When you sit down, you're asked whether you want the vegan menu or not (and staff were very nice!). Of course, I said yes--and I was pleasantly surprised by how many options there were.
Most of their main dishes have vegan versions. My boyfriend and I chose both get soups (Pho and Bun Bo Hue), as well as their rice wrap appetizer (w/ vegan chicken).
To start with, the rice wraps were SO good. They came with a lovely hoisin-ish sauce that tasted delicious, and the vegan chicken within was very tasty. I'd definitely recommend it.
Onto the main courses, WOW. The soups! They were AMAZING. I'm a huge pho fan and have been sad for a bit that it's difficult to find a vegan pho without making it yourself. I can easily say that the pho here does not disappoint... You get to choose 2 protein options to go with it, and it's absolutely massive. Definitely a large-sized pho if compared to other pho places and their sizes around Ottawa. The Bun Bo Hue was even better, in my opinion... though, I adore spicy soups (and the spice was the perfect level). This is the first time I've seen vegan Bun Bo Hue ever, and I am sooo happy it exists.
The restaurant itself is very cute on the inside. Soft, low lighting, with quiet pop music playing. Wasn't too crowded when me and my boyfriend went, but has a lot of seating available for busier nights. Definitely makes for a cute hangout spot. There are washrooms inside as well for customers.
All in all, Yes! Mama Kitchen gets a 10/10 from me :)
Pros: Expansive vegan menu, Delicious soups, Cute atmosphere
