Delicious & Cheap Fast Food

I came here twice with my boyfriend and we ordered the double patty kimchi burger, fried chicken burger, soy patty burger, and had the squid rings, oyster pastries, French fries, chicken nuggets and fried tofu sides. All were delicious (except the oyster pastries had a strange flavor) but the kimchi burger and chicken nuggets were the most flavorful compared to the others. The squid rings, chicken nuggets and fried chicken from the burger basically all tasted the same since it was all made from texturized soy protein but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Would definitely recommend this place if you love SUPER cheap vegan fast food!!!

Pros: All vegan, cheap and tasty, English menu

Cons: Some dishes taste similar & are a bit repetitive

Good western food

I had the hot dog, the kimchi beef burger and the suit rings. The hot dog was good - hard to eat due to the size. The burger and squid rings were awesome. As long as you don’t come here expecting healthy, organic food then you’ll enjoy it.

Pros: Everything is vegan, Price is good, English menu

Pretty good American Food

Had the chicken nugget burger, hash brown burger, hot dog, fries and squid rings. All was pretty good - satisfied American food cravings with a slight Taiwanese flavor. Squid rings were delicious. Very nice staff, easy to order, nice little inside to sit and eat.

Western Style Vegan Brunch

Food is great with huge portion (for me). Everything on the menu is vegan and I noticed that they don’t serve straw for their drink. Great effort for saving the planet! Definitely will pay a visit again next time!

Pros: Serving time is fast, Portion worth of money

good combo plates

Love that this place was all vegan with American comfort food. The pesto pasta was overpriced but the burgers were worth it.

Pros: combo plates, tea

Cons: pasta overpriced

vegan western fast food

If you’re craving something more western, this is a good choice. I had a set with a burger, fries and a tea. Paid about 150twd. Everything was tasty and the portion size was just right.

Pros: quite cheap, fast

really good vegan junk food (I wouldn’t recommend the risotto)

The burgers and hotdogs are delicious! As are the milk teas and ice cream coffee. Amazing food. Pretty quick and the people are nice! Although my friend got risotto and it was terrible. So I would recommend getting one of the more junk foody options.

Pros: good food, fast, cheap

Cons: the risotto

Fast-food

If you love cheap vegan fast-food this might be heaven for you. They have a menu in English and the staff is friendly and speak English. But unfortunately I realised that do not love cheap fast-food. The kimchi-burger was honestly hard for me to finish.

So, just not for me.

Pros: vegan fast-food! , English menu, friendly staff

Cons: cheap fast-food, ketchup and sugar, sugar and ketchup

Not Food

OK, I can understand why people might write a positive review for this place - if they have never seen a plate of real whole-food plant-based food placed in front of them in their lives.
To call this food is stretching the limits of the word mightily. Just because it can be masticated and swallowed is it then food?
Anyway what you get in the place, besides awful service and plasticky red and black, soulless decor is a bunch of sweet white bread, meat substitutes that look like they came from a toddlers play set and some luminous yellow and red sauces that would make your insides glow.
After receiving my 'burger' and 'sandwich' I knew enough and didn't feel hungry enough to warrant eating any of it. Truly horrible 'food'.
If you're like me and wish to eat nourishing plant-based food that heals your cells and makes you feel alive, stay away.
If you enjoy digesting processed junk like macdonalds and KFC and don't mind harming yourself with your 'food' all for the sake of a sugar or msg dopamine rush, then knock yourself out!

Pros: Has chairs and tables like other restaurants.

Cons: Horrible, droopy, plasticky processed junk masquer

Not bad

Not too bad but I probably won't go again.
I had a hot dog and the sausage was a bit rubbery.
A reasonable attempt.

Pros: English menu

Cons: Very cheap

5 thumbs up

This place is amazing. Great Western food for when you want a change from veggie buffets and rice. Prices are decent with mains around 180 dollars or you get a combo for only 159 gives you a light meal (burger, etc), a side (eg. fries or soup, etc), and a drink. The combo is best value. The mustard is the bomb! No vegetarian symbol on the shop front so look for the shop number.

Pros: delicious, good vegan food, decent value

Cons: none, nothing, nil

Okay western food

If you want to eat western food, then this place is worth checking out, although it isn't going to win any awards. The sandwiches are pretty good, particularly the chicken nugget burger. However, I would not recommend any of the "subs" which includes the mashed potato sub and hot dog because the bread they use is awful. It's filled with so many sweet tasting seeds that totally clash with the savory flavors of the sandwich. The beverages are good, including the mint almond milk tea I had during my first visit.

If you visit here, make sure you have hand sanitizer with you because the 'soap' in the bathroom is just tap water in a soap bottle (this is Taiwan so you should probably have hand sanitizer with you anyway...)

Pros: Most sandwiches are good, Good beverages

Cons: Terrible sub bread, No proper soap in the bathroom, Music is too loud

Good standby for Western-style food

I've eaten here a lot, and to start with the bad, I would recommend steering clear of any of the main dishes - the pasta and risotto seem really watered down and the sandwiches just felt too dry.

Now the good: I like their kimchi burger, chicken nuggets, ice cream float, fries, and chocolate pudding. The waffles are good and the veggie dog isn't bad either, though it's not a umami overload. This place has a modern atmosphere and is good but not great. It should satisfy any cravings for heavier Western-style fried stuff if you've been mostly eating at the local vegetarian restaurants.

By MRT, you'll probably want to take exit 1 from 美麗島(Formosa Boulevard) from the red line, or get off at 市議會 (City Council) and go out exit 4 if you're on the yellow line, and the walk is about 10 minutes.

Pros: Western food, fair prices, convenient location

Cons: Sometimes too crowded and need to wait outside, sometimes long wait for food, but has improved, pasta and risotto dishes are watered down

Awful

I have no idea why this place has so many high ratings. It's a very poor attempt at American food, and it is unhealthy as it is gross. Almost everything is deep fried and most of it is flavorless. The only good thing about it is it's dirt cheap.

Pros: Cheap, Friendly staff, Easy to find

Cons: Not very good, Unhealthy, No flavor

Fresh and good food

The restaurant is very clean and organized, with a "old fashioned moped/scooter" theme. Very "american".
I had the "Double veggie beef with korea spicy kimchi burger" + a hashbrown and afterwards an ice cream waffle! It was all very good, but the hashbrown is fried, so if you don't like fried things, don't choose it(I do, so I don't mind)
The waffle was tasty, I choose chocolate and strawberry ice cream.
The menu is in Mandarin and English, so everything is easy to understand!
Very nice place! Recommend it!

Pros: English menu, Clean, Nice staff

Vegan Heaven

This is the first restaurant I went to when I got to Kaohsiung. It's a great place in a sense that no skeptical meat-eating will ever doubt how tasty vegan food can be. The food was fantastic and has so many different choices. I recommend the spicy kimchi burger, the pudding, and the waffles! The price is extremely cheap if you come from big cities so enjoy yourselves!!!

Pros: cheap, delicious, variety

Cons: not the healthiest

Fantastic

By far the best vegan place I've eaten at in Kaohsiung. Had the kimchi burger and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. My company had the seafood pasta and was very pleased with it. The staff didn't really speak much English but they were helpful and the menu was English and easy to understand so there was no issues on that part. The menu said something like "our foods are vegan, free from animal products [...] We are doing our part for the planet and the animals." Which I thought was wonderful. Free wifi and fast service.

Pros: Great food, Understandable English menu, Fast service

Cons: No vegan sign outside/hard to find, A little pricey for Taiwan

Best restaurant in Kaohsiung

In my opinion this is the best vegan restaurant in Kaohsiung. Even though I don't like western fast food, I must say that this restaurant is awesome!
Everything I ate there is just delicious!!!
The spanish seafood risotto is one of their best dishes. I also like that you can choose combos for e.g. You can choose from main meal, light meal, dessert, snacks and beverages (they have a great variety of soy latte).
The staff doesn't speak much English but they have an English menu if you can't read Chinese!
If you come to Kaohsiung I would definitely recommend you going there!
So sad that you can't tell that this restaurant is vegan because they don't write anything like "vegan" in front of their door. They just mention it on the menu. So I think many vegans miss out this chance to go there

Pros: Delicious food, Wide variety of soy latte, Fake seafood

Cons: Needs to advertise veganism

Excellent!

Nice spot, near the Formosa subway stop, and the Liuhe Night Market.

While the staff didn't speak much English, the menu was in English, so pointing at items was easy. I had a solid veggie-bacon risotto, great mint/soy milk tea, and waffles with ice cream (that included whipped cream). They have free wifi, indoor and outdoor seating, and prices were reasonable. (high for Taiwan, but still cheap for US/European norms).

There is a picture of the menu on Happy Cow- but a number of risotto/pasta dishes, some sandwhiches, hot dogs, burgers and more. Some deserts too - ice cream, waffles etc.

I didn't see a business sign, so follow the the street numbers. But their front door has clear signage stating they are vegan (among other things)

Pros: All vegan, Easy for English speakers, Free wifi

Delicious House

A lovely restaurant that I will definitely visit again. The burgers looked so goooood, and the one I ate was pretty delicious as well.
They also have tasty vegan desserts.

Updated from previous review on Sunday April 19, 2015
I went back there today and had another delicious burger.

Even though I've been there before, I did walk straight past the place. There are no obvious signs to identify the restaurant (at least to me), so I suggest keep track of the street numbers.

Ye Su Vegan Brunch Spaghetti House, Kaohsiung

I like this place, it offers something different to most of the vego eating scene in Taiwan. It offers western food from pasta to burgers and chips and the like. The decor inside has a lambretta scooter and other such memorabilia.

There's signs on the door that indicate they are more than happy for customers to connect their charger and connect to the wifi.

Another of the signs on the door makes it clear this place is all vegan.

Pros: All vegan, Wifi use encouraged
