Clueless about vegan food (or indifferent) - Edit
They had Impossible Burger patties, but there was no dedicated vegan burger option; one could only substitute the vegan patty in one of their other burgers - all of which have cheese and other/hidden animal products. We asked to get their standard burgers with Impossible and to remove the cheese. They did then not volunteer that also the sauce was non-vegan (made with mayonnaise), it was only when we asked that we learnt that we had to remove the sauce, too. (We didn't ask about the bun, probably should have done so, too.) And all this to then get burgers with completely overcooked/dry patties. (Perhaps we should have specified "medium", but they didn't ask how we wanted our burger.) There were no other vegan options on the menu (apart perhaps from the nachos). And staff was not really keen on substituting or eliminating animal products in other dishes where this might have been possible. Wouldn't go there again.

Limited selection sometimes! - Edit
No vegan burgers available tonight, only two vegetarian options: nachos and a wrap. Ordered the nachos and they didn't taste good, not even after an entire day of hiking. Wouldn't serve a mid-50s-year-old a beer because of an expired driver's license. As if someone's birthday changes when their license expires.

Vegan Burger - Edit
The vegan burger with avocado salsa was good. It was not really hot, but i was happy they had a vegan option. I had a black bean and corn salad as side which was really good and also vegan.

Menu doesn't accurately label vegan options - Edit
The menu labels vegan options with a "V" - at least that's what it says it does. The menu says you can substitute a meatless protein on the nachos - this is labeled "V". I did that and got a large serving of nachos completely covered in non-vegan cheese and sour cream. (Neither of these ingredients are mentioned on the menu, even for the non-vegan default option.)
Read moreYou can get three tacos that are supposed to be vegan by default, and I think that's the safest bet here. If you want to modify something, be extremely clear to the staff about what you don't want on it. I'd be even more cautious if they seem busy.
The beers were pretty good here, although it's an extremely loud, crowded place at dinner time. If you have the option to go somewhere else, I'd take it.

Great vegan option inside the park - Edit
Yavapai is owned by a different group than almost all the other dining options in the south rim and their vegan/vegetarian distinction is different which was confusing. At Yavapi V=vegan, whereas everywhere else in the south rim V=vegetarian.
Read moreDelicious fully vegan torta. Also have vegan tacos. I did not taste it but the Korean crunch salad looked delicious.
We also ordered the kids burger but subbed the vegan burger which meant it was only $9.99 vs $16.99.
Pros: Multiple vegan options, Vegan salad, vegan main, and vegan burger option
Cons: Brioche (non vegan) buns, Not enough vegan sides

Good option within the park - Edit
We had the vegan burger with Impossible patty. The vegan side dish is kettle chips, which is a bit unusual. The burger was delicious and fresh and it came with a slice of pickle which is odd but we really liked it. Would definitely recommend and you can go there after a hike even with your dusty clothes😄

try the tacos! - Edit
i was counting on having no vegan options nearby, but was surprised to see a few completely vegan dishes. the tacos were really good! it’s three street tacos, so not super filling when you’re starving but they were really good! ($14)

Not bad, at least vegan labeled dishes - Edit
First of all don't get confused: this is not the Yavapai Lodge Dining Hall! The dining hall only offers a vegan chilli if I remember correctly. The dining hall and the tavern are in the same building though. To find the tavern you need to go around and to the north side of the building.
Read moreThe tavern has a cozy outdoor area and a few vegan labeled dishes on the menu. Plus you can substitute the burgers with Impossible Burger.
I ordered the gyritto which is a wrap. Unfortunately it was served cold, without tzatziki (at least I didn't taste it) and was kind of dry. So it was okay but I wasn't really thrilled. Maybe I should have ordered a burger... But since there are not a lot of options around here I was happy that I could eat at least something :)

Some good vegan options but be cautious - Edit
The street tacos and gyritto are vegan by default and very tasty. The omnis in the group ordered those and quite enjoyed them. We ordered vegan nachos, and it took a bit of effort for them to actually bring them out. When they did, they had real cheese and sour cream with bits of shredded pork under the fake meat. Stick to the options that don’t need modifications, and when it’s busy, you might not get everything you ordered.

Not a proper restaurant - Edit
This is a canteen style food counter and not a proper sit down table service restaurant. The food is way overpriced, no marked vegan options, and the queues were massive. Had all the ambience of a McDonalds.

Street Tacos - Edit
They offer quite a few vegan options which is great. I ordered the street tacos which contain a bean protein. The pickled cabbage and jalapeños had such a banging flavor that it tied the dish together. Staff was super friendly too!

Horrible Service, Few Vegan Options - Edit
After reading the previous review I was excited to try this place while visiting the Grand Canyon. I tried ordering the vegan burger and asked for the bun alternative mentioned in the previous review, I was informed very rudely that they have no vegan bun available and they could give me extra lettuce with the burger. The employee made a scene in front of everyone and was clearly annoyed that I was even asking for a vegan bun. He involved another worker who was equally unpleasant. I opted for the veggie chili without cheese and it was mediocre. I would recommend packing a lunch so you don’t have to deal with the rude unaccommodating staff at this establishment.

Good vegan burger in a vegan desert - Edit
They offer vegan homemade chili that is *excellent* and a Plant Power veggie burger that can be made vegan. Hold the cheese and sauce, and request a Hawaiian bun. It comes loaded with veggies on top and a big portion of kettle chips.
Read moreThe burger is a locally made vegan patty or you can upgrade to an Impossible burger for $1, which I recommend. The house vegan burger is fine but I prefer Impossible's. The default brioche bun is not vegan.
The chili was incredible, with tons of veggies and at least three kinds of beans. It's not salty or oily like I expected. Delicious, filling, and healthy.
We got a Southwest Salad to go and it was huge. Hold the cheese and swap the honey dressing for Balsamic. It's loaded with chips and would make great trail food.
They have lots of beers on tap including several local brews
The gentleman who took our order was a vegetarian and very friendly, he was happy to see vegans there :D
You can dine outside and it's a great experience. There is a grocery store in the same parking lot with plant milks (Barista almond, fresh soy, etc), fresh fruit and veggies. Stock up here and you'll be set with tons of real food to eat.
