Nothing special

I went in to get some momo's, but was disappointed to learn they only had the ones with cheese. Had to look for an alternative on the 'vegetarian' menu which included fish dishes...

The owners explained they could only make the main dishes vegan so I ordered nr 35 for 13,50 EUR. When served it had the looks, taste and texture of a Chinese dish with a bland sauce. The rice that came with it wasn't in proportion to the amount of vegetables for me. Luckily they brought me some spicy sauce to add some flavour!

I felt the language barrier made it difficult, but when serving me they assured the dish had no cheese / butter in it and was vegan. I didn't feel a particular friendly vibe during my stay.

Pros: cheap meal, vegan options from the main courses

Cons: no vegan momo's, no friendly vibes

A little piece of Tibet

Friendly restaurant if you find yourself in front of the sea in Ostend. Nice to chat a bit about Tibet with the owners.

Cheap food in vintage decor

In 2018, the name changed from Snow Tearoom to Yak Tibetan restaurant (I'm guessing new owners?).

With no website and no facebookpage, it was hard to find any info about this place. We had already wanted to go previously, to arrive there and find out that it is closed on Tuesday (see Winter opening hours, sheet on front porch).

Menu has vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections.
About half of the vegetarian dishes seem vegan (others are with butter sauce or dairy in curry).
A bit anxious about having to ask and explain 'vegan' (no dairy no eggs), but the young lady serving us seemed to understand - in a mixture of Flemish and English.

Had some springrolls and momos as an appetizer and sweet sour vegetables and spicy tofu dish as mains.

The interior is very vintage and I think it has been the same for ages. The floor tiles remind me of old pub floors from the 50's and '60's.
I think the toilets were just as old (were very shabby and could use a good scrub ... )

Restaurant level is accessible (ramp to get in), no accessible toilet).

Cheap (main dishes around 12-13 euro)

Pros: cheap, vegan options, relaxed

Cons: no online info available (opening hours?), shabby toilets

Vegan options at the seaside

Not a lot of vegan options left (plenty of vegetarian options though) but what they have is really tasty!

Pros: At the seaside, Foreign cuisine at the coast is rare, Plenty vegetarian options

Cons: Not a lot of vegan options

Friendly staff but...

Nice interior and friendly people. The downside is that we didn't get what we ordered. It was an approximation of the description of the dish on the menu. Also know that Tibet is close to China so the food resembles that of a Chinese restaurant.

Pros: Friendly staff , Nice interior

Cons: Waiter hardly spoke any Dutch or English

Disappointed

For vegetarians perhaps but clearly not for vegans... Food was medium/bad quality, fish taste in the vegetarians meal maybe fish sauce. Veggie momos was very very fat and had butter taste so i was disgusted. Only the vegetarian rolls seemed ok... Questionable cleanliness (table and menu was sticky) 1 star because staff was gently and smily.

Vegan healthy good Tibetan food!

Nice place to eat.
Veggy momos and Tse Nedzom were excellent.
I had a very good time and dinner. Very friendly and sincere staff.
Beautiful prints, landscapes, photos and a map of Tibet.
It is the second time I eat there. This summer I ate on the terrace outside overlooking the sea. I had then also a very good time.
Recommended.
When I go to Oostende next time I will definitely go back. It will be in february because they are closing next weeks for some adaptation works.

Pros: Excellent food not expensive, Friendly staff , Nice vibe

Veg Momo @ Sneeuw Tearoom

AMAZING Veg Momo! I loved these little steamed dumpling things! There were at least five or six items listed in a vegetarian section of the menu. Service was a little slow compared to dining in the US, but seemed pretty much the same as any other Belgian restaurants. The food came out fresh and hot. Cheaper than many restaurants I've been to in Belgium; I only spent 13 euro on the food and a beer.

10/10 would eat again!

NOTE: the name is Sneeuw Tearoom NOT Tibetan Tea Room

Pros: Excellent Food, Good prices, Friendly Staff

Cons: Slightly slow service

Enough vegan stuff for two people to share

My boyfriend and I had veggy momos, Tibetan noodle soup, gobi manchurian and paratha. Everything was tasty, the paratha was amazing! The noodle soup came with shiitake and black mushrooms. I had a great jasmine tea too, and the staff were lovely. Great view of the sea. It's true that there wasn't a huge choice - we ordered almost everything that was vegan on the menu, but we really couldn't have eaten more and we liked everything so a great place for going a few times (or more if you are local and like the food). Plus veggy momos are the best! My boyfriend's parents who are omnis were with us and they really enjoyed it too.

Pros: Veggy momos! And other deliciousness, Lovely staff, Great view

Cons: Not a huge variety of vegan items on the menu (alt

Delicious food

We had momos, tibetan hand noodles and dry gobi manchurian, which was all very delicious. The choice of vegan food is indeed quite limited. But the staff is very nice and friendly. We had a good time.

Pros: Nice food, Friendly staff

Cons: Limited choice

Useful place in a town with limited options

Open on Sundays.

I had daal (spicy lentil) soup followed by vegetable momos (Tibetan ravioli filled with cabbage, I think) served with spicy sauce. Both were good though not exceptional.

Since Happy Cow's editors unhelpfully deleted from this listing all examples of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu, here are some again:
- Vegetable Tibetan hand noodles
- Vegetable chow mein
- Dry gobi Manchurian (Manchurian cauliflower)
- Vegetable soup

Pros: Addition to limited veggie scene

Cons: Not centrally located, Lacks atmosphere
