vegan section on menu - Edit
Hard to find a Chinese place that actually had a vegan section on the menu! The first time I ever saw one ! The vegan orange chicken was good and reasonably priced (: would definitely come back to try more of the vegan menu

I was told today that the vegan labeled items have chicken broth.

That’s confusing and disappointing. Hopefully they fix the menu, I haven’t been there in over a year fortunately, def won’t be going back now.

An OK Option - Edit
We were really excited to try Xing Long seeing a couple wonderful reviews.
Read moreThe 2 stars I give today are for the flavor of the sauce and the fact that they tried to have a vegan exclusive section on their menu.
We had the Vegan Orange Chicken, Vegan General Tso Chicken, and the Vegan Boneless Ribs. I will say this… the presentation was very tasty looking.
The positive was that the boneless ribs had a wonderful sauce and texture. I probably would have given those 4 stars if I had those alone.
The sauces on both the vegan chicken dishes were tasty. The vegan chicken they used were all inconsistent in texture and would have lacked flavor completely if it wasn’t for the sauce which made the texture even more challenging to eat.
The chicken dishes came with plain white rice which reminded me of the few times I used too much water and left the rice in the instant pot too long at home. Mush. 😩
While I commend them for attempting a vegan menu, I was sad that there was also no spring roll options that were vegan friendly… first Chinese restaurant I’ve been to that didn’t at least have that.
It’s an ok option for the area if you really need a Chinese food fix but I likely won’t be back. 😞
Pros: Vegan clearly marked on menu., Good pricing.
Cons: Few options, Lacking in texture

Amazing veg options (more than just tofu) - Edit
This place is amazing! They have several clearly labeled vegan options ranging from General Tsos chick'n and broccoli to Cashew Chick'n to Boneless Spare 'ribs', they also have tofu but I'm honestly impressed with the quality of the ingredients and how fresh everything is. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Xing Long Chinese Restaurant - Edit
This Chinese Restaurant has changed ownership several times in the 20+ years I have lived in the area. I have happily discovered that Xing Long-the current restaurant -offers appx. half dozen Vegan mock meat dishes and they are very, very good if you are amenable to mock meats. If you are already veg or vegan, or have never tried/or are transitioning away from meat, I suggest trying these delicious dishes and hopefully they will 'make you see the light' 😄;-) if you haven't already
Read moreI usually request dishes made with less oil/sauce as Chinese dishes can tend to be drowning in the stuff and Xing Long always honors this request. Whether you live local, are jumping off I-95 in North Stonington CT to grab a quick meal (its not too far off the exit), or are en route to Foxwoods Casino, stop here to get your healthier fix & order the Vegan entrees!! Unfortunately, one of the very few choices to do so in the area. (unless you go into Westerly -and then, somewhat surprisingly, hardly any restaurants w/ vegan offerings either)
Comfortable bench seating is usually quite empty (but these are Covid times after all😒
It is a quiet location in a quiet small plaza with ample/accessible parking in close proximity to storefront . You could even drive over to Hewitt Farm Preserve (basically across the street) and eat/picnic there then take a leisurely & beautiful hike or just take in the views of the pond afterwards!
Pros: always honors request for less oil/sauce, pleasant friendly owner the times I've been there, situated in nice area to unwind from chaos/noise
Cons: 2 many flesh/fish options on the menu-yech! , Smell/Thought of same cooking near my vegan dishes, abv can't be helpd & appreciate offer vegan dishes
