Tofu Pesto Ciabatta - Edit
We came there by accident and found they had several vegan options on their menu. I ended up with the Tofu Pesto Ciabatta which is marked vegan on their menu if you order without cheese. The bread was still warm and fluffy and the Tofu seemed homemade. Overall it tastes fresh and was well worth the price. Can recommend.

Cute and Charming Cafe with Delicious Smoothies and Healthy Meals - Edit
Xiguela was a cute and cozy cafe located in a quiet neighbourhood near Parque El Llano. They served healthy food and drinks. Their banana smoothies (or “licuados” in Spanish) were quite tasty and refreshing. The atmosphere was pleasant and staff were sweet.
Read moreAcross the street from the cafe, they had a health food store of the same name with a great variety of natural foods and organic products.
Pros: Charming Relaxed Atmosphere, Tasty Smoothies, Quiet Location

good for vegetarians, not vegans - Edit
I came because I read there were vegan sandwiches, but no one who worked here knew what was vegan, so I wasn't sure about the bread. There were some salads and fruit. Pretty minimal. (This is about the restaurant not the store)

Amazing french toast, tofu ciabattas & banana smoothies - Edit
Xiguela is my favourite cafe in Oaxaca! We stayed in an Airbnb on the same road and ate here nearly everyday for a week. They have super delicious toast and French toast for breakfast with really nice nutty bread and apple jam. There are loads of options for vegetarians and vegans, including a great tofu ciabatta and fresh salads. They also make my favourite banana smoothies with water and ice, and they're really good :) Friendly staff and delicious food.

Cafe is nice, grocery store is better - Edit
The cafe has a menu with several vegetarian options, two of which are vegan. The salad I had was very nice, but more options would be good.
Read moreThe grocery store is excellent. I bought a variety of foods and almond milk to keep me going while I was in Oaxaca.
I'm giving this 4 cows overall because of the grocery store. I'd give the cafe 3 cows.
Note: there are two Hidalgos in central Oaxaca. This place is on the one close to the bus station, not the one near calle Independencia.
Map is currently wrong. They are located on Hidalgo at the intersection of 5 de Mayo.
Pros: Vegan foods in grocery store, Close to ADO bus station

Oaxaca's best and most varied organic shop - Edit
This is a great place and I've been meaning to add it for a while. Keep in mind that the cafe and the grocery are in two separate buildings across the street from each other (both occupying one corner). I've enjoyed the tofu sandwich at the cafe, but the real gem here is the organic shop, stocking several imported veggie treats that you will find nowhere else in the city. They also carry a variety of organic specialties from nearby communities such as fantastic shiitakes, shallots, and arugula.
Read moreAlso worth visiting the beautiful historical neighborhood as well. Owner is very friendly and is usually playing Brazilian or African music in the shop. Get to know this place!
Pros: Variety, Friendly owner, Rare products
Cons: Expensive

I didn't see any vegan options at the cafeteria, which is the listing. I see now others mention the tofu sandwich. I Didn't see it. You're right that the shop is amazing, but here we are meant to talk about the cafeteria.

Best health food store in Oaxaca - Edit
As an American completely spoiled by stores like Whole Foods, I've been very thankful to have come across this charming little store that has more options for healthy and organic foods than any other I've seen here. And it's got a wonderful welcoming and friendly atmosphere created by the owner Claudia and her assistant. They make you feel like you're right at home. Highly recommended!
