Delicious food - Edit
A lovely cafe set in the beautiful surroundings of Paddocks Wood. Appears to be a family run business and everyone from the person behind the counter, the chef and the young server were very friendly and helpful. We had the vegan all day breakfast, a cheeze / vastrami sandwich with some tea and all were very tasty. Four stars as five are reserved only for those restaurants that are 100% vegan (& of a similar quality to this cafe).

When Woodies first opened, I was so pleased to have this place so close to where I live. I do wish it was 100% plant-based (as I’d thought it was, according to their original name) and unfortunately from the end of 2022 they have started to serve meat due to 'business reasons' so I am really quite disappointed. On one occasion I visited at lunchtime and there was an overwhelming smell of meat, which was a meat lasagne, which put me off.
Read moreExcepting my first visit when they had just opened and were finding their feet, I have always enjoyed my food there and they did take on board some constructive criticism. I do feel the prices are quite reasonable. When you visit you can expect some vegan choices but they have recently changed the menu (updated Jan ‘24) and instead of vegan options being marked, I think you have to ask. The cakes and scones are no longer all vegan like they used to be and I feel uneasy now that they serve both meat and vegan versions of the same thing (e.g. sausage rolls) and I have been served a pizza with dairy cheese in the past. They serve nice coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks including toffee vodka hot chocolate which my daughter has enjoyed. They have also recently opened a wine bar next door, which I believe is open some evenings.
Sadly, I no longer support this place as often as I used to, because their ethics obviously don't align with mine.
Edit October 2024: Woodies Café has now closed. They are still running as a catering business but I don't know if any vegan options are available.

Great - Edit
Five of us went- some vegan others not. There were options for everyone. The food and drink tasted nice. I had the vegan hot chocolate, savoury scone with salad and lemon cake.

Still has a good range of excelent vegan options - Edit
The restaurant always had many non-vegan on its menu. But the point is the vegan options are very good, and the cherry scone I had a few days ago was excellent.

Now serves meat... - Edit
Really tasty food, nice atmosphere, just wish it was 100% vegan as we would go a lot more and it would be the only vegan place for miles! It now serves meat, we may as well go anywhere! Nice food though and nice staff. Have no plans on returning, smells a lot of meat now, I used to go a lot and take all my friends/family as I believed they had the same ethical mindset as myself. It's a shame they do not.

Good food, good atmosphere, really friendly staff - Edit
Great atmosphere, dog friendly, good vegan options.
Read moreHad the homemade tomato and chilli soup and a toasted vegan cheese and tomato sandwich, really lovely! Partner had homemade burger and salad which again was lovely.
Lots of cake options (many of which we bought and ate at home!).
Good drinks menu although we only had tap water as it was such a hot day.
Staff really super friendly. Seating inside and out.
Dog friendly.
We will be back...

Fair food for a fair price - Edit
This restaurant is located in a small Kent village. Not easy to spot as it is a converted double fronted house (Somerset Villa) it has s couple of tables outside and the road isn’t to busy.
Read moreThere is an upstairs adults only area which i loved but the stairs are quite steep so not for the infirm.
We had a mezze of hummus; Mediterranean style salad with dill; stuffed and plain flat breads; falafels; a really nice sausage roll; the only thing i wasn’t keen on was the quiche which reminded me of TCP, my partner said it’s a smoky thing. 🤷🏽♂️
The tea is in leaves and in a pot which is great!
We also had knickerbocker glory’s which my partner was really looking forward to i had the strawberry which was nice enough but she had the chocolate and she thought the sponge was stale and she didn’t finish it which is rare indeed 😂.
The decor is lovely, the music is discreet so you don’t need to shout. Whilst we probably would not drive the 50 minutes from our home just to go there it’s worth supporting if in the area.

As soon as we walked in we felt welcomed and at home. The staff were delightful and cheerful. The menu was great and had green V's by everything vegan.

Brilliant cafe ! - Edit
Lovely warm welcome upon arrival at this little gem of a cafe. We stopped for lunch and we had the shared vegan platter and a coffee both were delicious , which we can highly recommend. Definitely going to become regulars as it was so refreshing to have a choice of 90% vegan options. Hopefully in the near distant future it will be totally vegan and not pander to those uneducated on animal welfare.
