Serves meat, vegan options available. Founded in 1944. American and New Mexican cuisine including several vegetarian dishes - check which one are or can be served vegan. Open Mon-Sat 11:00am-3:00pm, 5:00pm-8:00pm.
Remote restaurant that even on a weekday at lunch time was quite busy. Good service and food. Our server told us that many of the items could be made without meat if requested. Chips, salsa and guacamole plus the Tortilla soup were the best items we had. Nice outdoor seating.
In an area with limited choices you can find something to eat. We had bean burros. They were better than Taco Bell but nothing to write home about. They didn’t credit us for the cheese we didn’t get but charged $3.00 to add rice to the burro. Bean tostadas seemed to be the only other vegan choice. There was no vegan or vegetarian items indicated on the menu.
What a total surprise to find this place in the middle of nowhere! The vegan options are clearly marked and the server knew exactly what was vegan and how things could be veganized. The atmosphere is quirky rustic and totally appropriate for the location. I had a tamarind margarita and blue corn tamale. Both outstanding. The dessert is also vegan without the ice cream.
