Dog friendly pub

Friendly pub with a few vegetarian options, some of which can be done vegan. Perfect if you love grilled Mediterranean vegetables. Very dog friendly

Expected better

Went here for lunch as we were passing through and was a bit let down by the vegan options - although there were options at least and they were clearly labelled! The options were very simple. I hadn’t realised that they could have veganised things like the burger of feta salad, read those reviews too late! 🙄

Pros: Clearly labelled options

Cons: Quite pricey for what the food ended up being

Great location, nice food

It is well located at Rye harbour, you can walk around the docks and go crabbing or you can take a stroll to the nearby nature reserve, seashore, bird watching huts and discovery centre.

Only three vegan mains were available, (roast vegetable salad and hummus/mushroom burger, cheesy aubergine roast) but there are sides like grilled mushrooms, hummus and pitta and others that can make a meal together too. Great flavours, there is a Cyprus theme to it all. The sauces and dressings used in all the vegan food taste great, they’re not the creamy kind. It looks like a balsamic vinaigrette but tastes different, much less acidic and more roasty. Nice outdoor seating area.

There is always an ice cream van on the corner too, but I doubt it’s vegan.
