Great cafe with lots of vegan choice

Great little cafe, lovely staff, we had vegan special which was a spicy veg pie with chips, and gravy, it was really nice, great coffee too.
There were plenty of other vegan options such as lasagne and curry too.

Vegan menu

6 separate hot vegan options on offer, along with jacket potatoes etc. Busy place so service can be on the slow side.

Good choice

About 6 vegan items on the menu and specials on the wall. I had the sausage and mash then for pudding a raspberry tart with vegan squirty cream. The sausage and mash came with gravy and red onions. It was hot and filling. It was almost too hot which made me wonder if it was microwaved. (Nothing wrong with that though). It just felt like it was still cooking in my mouth. The tart was nice but not amazing. They had a vegan apple crumble on the blackboard but I didn’t ask if the custard would have been vegan. Would come here again to try other things.

Pros: Lots of choices , Family run place , Good value

Relaxed cafe

We popped into this cafe for a drink. I had a soya milk hot chocolate. They said they use Cadburys hot chocolate powder. There was also a vegan food menu, which looked good, but we didn't eat here. Staff where helpful and friendly. Would recommend for a chilled stop and if you have dogs

Lovely little cafe

Had the sausage and mash and it was delicious! Other choices were a curry or a burger. Lovely service and comfortable setting, would recommend for sure 😊

Vegan menu but never got to try the food!

Looking for somewhere to break a long car journey we were delighted to find this place on Happy Cow. It has a separate vegan menu, so we ordered a burger and sausage & mash but after being served water we ordered they told us there was a 30 minute wait for food. Didn’t really want to sit in the cafe so asked the waitress if we could go and have a look round Ripon and come back in 20 minutes? Absolutely fine she said, taking the water back to have with the meal. We returned 20 minutes later - our table was occupied but they sat us at another, brought the water out again and said the food would follow. We asked the waitress to check if it was ready and she said very sorry but it wasn’t ready as they hadn’t even started to cook it. Another woman who seemed to be in charge asked if all was ok, and said whatever the issue was she’d sort it out…. we explained what had happened she said “no problem” which of course there was (we were hungry and now had to find somewhere else to eat), then changed her tune and said she thought we’d cancelled the food - although she’d never spoken to us, asked if we’d paid anything, said “oh well there’s nothing to refund”, and turned her back. It was by then near closing time for most cafes so we ended up eating a banana in the car.

Cons: 30 minute wait for food - and then no food!
