Lakeside cafe opened Jan 2018 providing a vegan soul food menu with brunch on Sundays. Features dishes like vegan chick'n and waffles, crispy chick'n sandwich, smothered chili mac burrito, vegan shrimp po boy sandwich, biscuits & gravy, black bean burger, and other classic comfort foods made vegan. Sweets include pancakes with fruit toppings. Apr 2019 closed for renovation - please let happycow know when / if it reopens!

Everyone should try this place! - Edit
I was really impressed by this little restaurant! It’s at the back of the building so careful you don’t past it. My mom ordered a burrito. I got the buffalo bowl and the chili cheez tots, everything was delicious and fairly priced. The atmosphere is a little plain but I’m there to eat not look at the walls, besides there’s a beautiful view of the lake.

Was very impressed by the loaded tator tots, jackfruit sandwhich, chili burrito, and the chicken sandwich. Friendly staff get the food quickly. But this place could really benefit from better signage. It's hard to see from the street as it's actually behind the barber shop.

This is such a small tucked away place in the back of a building, but the owners are super sweet and the food was really tasty. We ordered the flapjacks and the avocado toast. Such a filling meal at a reasonable price!

My husband and I went to get some brunch and we had a great time. Place was empty, we enjoyed the music selection, the service was awesome and the food was just what we expected. I got the Chocolate Chips Waffle with tofu scramble and hash browns on the side, and he got the Breakfast Burrito. He is not vegan and he like it a lot. The portions were perfect, nothing excessive. The flavor was soft and simple: no heavy flavors, no excesses of oil, salt or sugar (except for the waffles syrup, but is on the side, so you can control the portion or avoid it). I’m not giving five stars because I didn’t see any Gluten Free option, but, I only looked at the brunch menu. Also, it was a little pricey, but we like to support local places and more if they have vegan options. We’ll definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

Small place with incredibly delicious food! My boyfriend had the tacos and I ordered the burrito. The portions were large, but we cleared our plates. The guava sauce and jackfruit were particularly tasty.

Almost didn't give this restaurant a try based on recent reviews but glad I did. Black bean burger and tater tots were good quality, very tasty, and portions were more than reasonable. I plan to work my way through the menu and revise my review accordingly. Staff was polite and friendly. Music wasn't loud - I have single sided deafness but had no trouble conversing. Cost is a little high but healthy food is worth more to me. Yes, it's a small space, the location is challenging, and parking is limited but it's not as bad as some would have you believe. The only way this business will be able to move to a better location is through our support. I checked the health inspection records and there are no violations. There was a focused inspection on 6/21/18 based on a complaint that resulted in no violations. This business meets minimum food safety and construction standards. I say give it a try and use your own judgement based on your experience not on the opinion of 1 or 2 negative reviews. Happy Munching!!!

This place used to be awesome. You could get tasty, vegan soul food. I want Mac n cheese, I want popcorn chicken, I want po boys! If I want “healthy” vegan food, I can go to a thousand other places...I loved this place because it was a place I could get traditionally non vegan dishes that make me happy. But alas, they got rid of their Mac n cheese and all fried dishes. I’m probably only going to come back now for the smoothies or the tater tot dish...so sad, because they were so great. Or maybe I’m just resistant to change.

How tragic it is that a vegan café with a great looking menu, enthusiastic employees, and eager customers was developed by someone who obviously has disregard for safety and health. The owner chose a location that is not fit to be a restaurant. It simply isn’t a kitchen or restaurant space, but a small retail space (one room, with only a screen divider behind the counter to separate the “kitchen” from the dining area, not enough exits or seating, and most troublesome of all, no ventilation system.) So when the cook deep fries in oil (most of the menu items require deep frying), the combusted oils pollute the air. We had to go outside because our eyes were burning and it was difficult to breathe. One employee confided in us that she had been suffering from it as well and was concerned when I informed her that the fumes from most cooking (vegetable) oils are carcinogenic. They say they plan on phasing out deep frying and using an air fryer, but this place never should have opened and operated like this to begin with. What a humanitarian fail. Shame.

This was my second time here. Got the deli wrap the first time. It was great. Got the chicken sandwich loaded fries and Mac and cheese the second visit. Was totally blown away at how good it all was. Came to this places earlier today and the food did not disappoint! The staff was very nice and helpful. My husband isn’t a vegan and even he said their Sammies were great. I wish a took a picture of their pineapple upside down cake but I ate it so fast because it was delicious!
