Wild Root - Edit
Fantastic cafe serving fresh, nutritious and delicious WFPB food. The deli counter offers ready made sandwiches, bagels, salads and the chiller has a range of fermented food and drinks on offer, as well as a range of cashew cheese to takeaway. There is also a cook to order menu and I opted for the full cooked breakfast from this, although there were lots of choices I’d have loved to try too. Food was delicious, the chai latte was good too. The cafe itself has a lovely cosy vibe and is dog friendly. There is a ramp outside for access, and once inside the cafe is all on one level. Car park right in front of the building and this is free to use.

Cute vegan cafe - Edit
Been meaning to visit for a while and finally the opportunity presented itself! We arrived around 1pm and it was pretty empty - I was disappointed as I’d much prefer fully vegan places to be busy - but within a few mins of sitting down, the place packed out! I had a vegan lox cream cheese bagel - when it arrived I thought it looked a bit old, but it tasted fab. It had a dill cream cheese with the lox, as well as picked onions & capers for some tang. Partner had the TLT sourdough sandwich; it had a generous portion of well seasoned Smokey tempeh. We’ll definitely return as the salads in the cooler looked amazing!

Stunning and healthy - Edit
Love this place! It has really cosy vibes inside, and a beautiful setting outside. I've only been twice (so far) and had the full breakfast both times, it's gorgeous and just the right amount of food, left feeling satisfied but not too stuffed. The hot drinks are lovely (although a little on the small side for me) and their cakes are stunning, between the 3 of us we had 3 different flavours and every one of them was gorgeous!

My favourite vegan cafe - Edit
I have been going to Wild Root since they opened in 2021. The food is consistently delicious. They recently had a re-vamp and we visited today for the first time since they re-opened. We were not disappointed. The cafe is so warm and welcoming and the staff lovely and friendly as always. We had the sweet potato and harissa soup which was gorgeous. I had a potato and greek pasta salad on the side. The potato salad had a lovely zingy vinaigrette dressing which complimented the soup. The greek pasta salad was fresh and vibrant. My husband had the hummus and vegetable sourdough roll which he enjoyed immensely. He said the freshness and texture of the vegetables worked well with the creamy hummus. He normally hates aubergine but I think he may now be a convert!

Not sure why this gets 5* reviews - Edit
Maybe coz it’s the only all vegan menu anywhere around? Been here on numerous occasions. Staff generally not bothered. Tables are never bussed. Pretentious hipster vibe. It always take forever to get food. And the portions are tiny and I got no problem paying the money when it’s worth it but non of the stuff is something anyone I know would actually buy let alone pay an extortionate price for.

Insanely good 👍 - Edit
We made a specific stop here on the way to Formby Beach - we wanted to pack ourselves up with food for the day. We ate in for breakfast and also took away "sausage" rolls, salad, pasta etc for the trip. It was so difficult to choose one thing. All food tasted fresh and nutritious. There were all types of goodies to try and they also had little shelves of items to buy from local sellers, such as toys, crystals and such like. The server was so friendly and helpful, too. We wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Brought non vegans and they loved it too! - Edit
My first visit here but well worth the trip. My partner and I met four non-vegans here for lunch. Carrot lox bagel with cashew nut cream and dill served with a selection of lovely salads was my favourite or maybe it was the cakes 🍰 or maybe the lovely friendly women running the place. They are developing treatment rooms and events so I look forward to returning- even though it’s a 45 min drive for us to get there. The menu was a bit confusing to start with but just go to the counter to see the day’s selection of sandwiches and soup.

Carefully crafted - Edit
I enjoyed my ‘smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel’ - bursting with flavours and pleased to get to try the ‘cheese’. I had a Waldorf salad which was very tasty and dense - not a typical Waldorf, it had black rice and grapes in it and I think the apple was cooked. Delicious. I had a white bean and roasted carrot salad also. Lots of fresh herbs and flavours in everything. We shared a raw sweet item which was good too. Lovely setting. We splurged a bit having kombucha, juice, coffees etc. lovely setting with choice of inside or outside areas. No fresh produce for sale anymore or garden things but a fantastic cafe. They also have amazing looking cakes and pantry items for sale.

Fantastic - Edit
The afternoon tea platter was absolutely brilliant. The food was fun and not a bog standard afternoon tea made of posh crustless sandwiches! The smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese and capers was so good! All the food was super tasty, healthy and homemade on site, and well made and thought out. We thoroughly enjoyed it and got a box to take some home as we were really full. It was under £25 for this and 2 hot drinks, oat milk is standard. The staff were super friendly, the place was spotless and we really couldn't fault the place. I've visited before for coffee and cake hence I knew I wouldn't be disappointed revisiting. On an added bonus, they're situated 10 mins from Ainsdale beach which is fab for walking and lots of dunes to walk around and get lost in... which we did!!! It was worth our hours drive from Manchester.

Worth the detour - Edit
On our visit to family in the area my husband and I came for lunch one day and we returned the following day with our two teens because we loved it so much.
Read moreThe service staff is super friendly and accommodating. The music is relaxed and the general mood happy.
The food is beautifully prepared, and you can tell that every part of the dish has been thought out with care. Locally sourced vegetables play protagonist in most of the dishes - this makes a refreshing change from the typical “fast food” vegan options available in the country. No chips in sight…😅
I didn’t taste the desserts but the family said - “the red velvet cookie is so good, chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside” - “the triple chocolate slice has an amazing texture : soft on the inside, with a crunchy nutty texture and is strongly flavored like a truffle”
“The carrot cake is fruity and nutty, has a great texture, the cake itself is not too sweet, but the icing is a bit too sweet. It goes well with the delicious coffee”
The one downside is that they were sold out of cheese because of the festive season and having read other reviews here I was really looking forward to trying it.
Will definitely make this place a regular when in the area and will try the cheese next time!
