Horrible - Edit
***EDIT*** I have been to Wild Root Cafe a few times for breakfast and enjoyed my meal (The picture associated with this review is of one of the breakfast dishes that I had enjoyed. I have since changed my review to reflect my most recent experience). I came in yesterday for lunch. I got there at 10:45, which I thought would've left me plenty of time to make a Noon appointment at the VA. It was a busy morning, but it should not take 45 minutes to get a wrap. People who came in after me were being served their food also. So around 11:30, I asked for a refund, which they gave me. They also gave me my order since it had just come up. Which, at the time, I thought was nice of them to do. The owner's wife gave me some attitude about everything being cooked to order and that it takes time. I totally get that, but 45 minutes??? So, I made it to my appointment with 10 minutes to spare so I decide to try to hurry and eat my food. I took a few bites and realized that there was chicken in the wrap. I order the INDIAN “NACHOS” FLATBREAD without any meat since I am a vegetarian. I would like to thank Wild Root Cafe for completely ruining my lunch!

Amazingly good - Edit
I've had a LOT of tofu scramble over the last few decades and the one at Wild Roots was in the top 3 for flavor, bite and presentation. The rest of the plate - house potatoes and mixed veggies - were equally well flavored and cooked perfectly.
Read moreBonus that the staff asked if I was vegan when ordering so they could make sure the dish was prepared accordingly.
There were other options on the menu as well.
Note that while the menu online and in-house is the lunch one, the breakfast option are listed there as well.

More options, please - Edit
We went on a Friday at 11a and I was hoping for more brunch options. We ordered the avocado toast with scramble and were completely satisfied. Everything was seasoned well and the bread perfectly toasted. Great inviting space and has a outdoor patio across from Freak Alley!

Food okay - service, not so much. - Edit
Server talked a mile-a-minute; so much so that we couldn’t understand what she was saying. Toward the end of our visit we were essentially abandoned. When we asked another server to let ours know that we were ready for the check, we were told she was busy and we had to call that server back to get our check and take our money. We won’t be returning.

I got an oat milk latte and the vegan huevos rancheros, and both were delicious! The portions and flavor were on point. I can’t wait to try everything vegan on the menu! Oh and the staff were all so wonderful and friendly!

Where's the salt? - Edit
First restaurant I ate at upon moving to Boise and the food was "meh". I got a breakfast burrito and bf got the vegan hash which both lacked any flavor. Grateful to have vegan options here but I am reluctant to try this place again especially considering their prices. The waitress was absent minded and forgot to bring condiments multiple times, and gave us too much cash back on our check.

Cons: Invest in some kala namek for your tofu egg, Vegan "cheese" is not what you'd expect

I had the vegan Moroccan bowl. It has lentils, chickpeas, and a delicious breaded and dried but not greasy eggplant. Could have used more sauce but the flavor was good.

Awesome! - Edit
Several vegan choices and so fun to have a breaded vegetable that was dipped in rice flour, not wheat! Clean, cute shop with alfresco dining on hip 8th Street, right across from Freak Alley.

I love Wildroot! - Edit
They have multiple delicious vegan options and are accommodating when you want to turn a non-vegan item into a vegan item. Their staff is friendly and helpful. I always get the coconut based passion fruit chia pudding as a dessert-it’s a winner every time.

Good vegan food - Edit
I loved this place when I first moved to Boise, but think it’s time to update my review. I moved it to 3 stars. They do have a vegan option on their breakfast and lunch menus and I still really like their banh mi. But, I was disappointed with breakfast last time I ate there. They have vegan eggs, not tofu scramble. They recently switched the vegan egg base and it is really slimy with a mushy texture. It was hard to get down, honestly. I would not order that again. Also, it’s pricey.

Hi, Autumn. Sorry for the delay in replying. The vegan eggs are a Follow Your Heart product, and they had changed their recipe, hence the texture change. We always offer a tofu scramble as our standard vegan substitute, with no up-charge. Sorry you weren’t happy with what you were served.

I feel like they’re scared of flavor - Edit
Lots of vegan options that are bland as heck. I haven’t had anything that impressed me from Wild Root. Not even my $18 1/2 cup of risotto.

Staff was friendly and numerous vegan options. Their hours may have changed because we came at 6pm and they were open. Not sure if it was because of Pride weekend but happy they were open!

Super trendy and friendly restaurant. The vegan had the Indian Bhurji with vegan eggs and the non-vegan had the Frenchie.
Read moreThe flat bread was a little tough and I wasn't sure if I should eat it as a wrap or cut it with a fork and knife. I ended up doing both after trying to have it like a wrap ended up with me having sauce all over my hands. Great flavors though. Absolutely loved it.
Frenchie had amazing flavors too, good cinnamonie bites.
The coffee though..... sorry, it wasn't good.

awesome vegan breakfast - Edit
I don't think I've ever had a better vegan breakfast! They have follow your heart vegan eggs and cashew cheese that you can sub into any of the regular menu items. I had the vegan burrito and it was phenomenal. My husband had the Indian style flat bread sandwich which he loved and he's picky! They had some vegan cookies that we grabbed to go. The lady at the counter was so nice and helpful. We don't live in the area but if we did we'd be back!

Vegan Banana Foster - Edit
I love this place, it is definitely worth checking out. They not only offer multiple vegan dishes, but they also have vegan pastries and other items behind the counter. My favorite dish that I have had from them thus far is the banana foster pancakes, I just wish they offered these everyday and not just on Saturday. I have also ordered the wrapped, with a side of sweet potato hash, which was so, so oily. I would sub for a different side.

Really good vegan dishes. Nice that they have more than just one option. All dishes really heavy with fresh veggies. Vegan options labelled. Substitute Follow Your Heart vegan eggs and cashew cheese in their non vegan breakfast dishes.
