Just got banned! - Edit
I have eaten at Wholesome Cafe for 6 years and always found the food wholesome and the staff friendly, but today, I got kicked out after being soundly abused by the woman who claimed she was "the owner."
Read moreMy crime: I need to use my phone, and waiting for your order often takes 10-20 minutes, and so I went inside, stood out of the way and check to see if I could get reception inside, so I could order.
The woman who is "the owner" asked if I was going to order in a rude voice, and I said Yes, if I can get phone service.
"GET OUT!" SHE said in a loud voice. I responded there was no reason for her to order me out, that I was a customer for 6 years (new ownership), and I just wanted 15 seconds to see if I could get phone service.
For the next 5 minutes, she was yelling at me to get out, and so, being an anti-authoritarian (and vegan for 25 yrs...this is the only vegan cafe in town), I told her call the cops. She picked up the phone and pretended to dial, and kept yelling at me to Get Out! I tried to explain to her it would take only a few seconds to see if I could get phone service, but she kept interrupting me in a loud and jarring voice.
Finally, I said I would not leave so long as she was disrepectufl. After a few Get Outs! She said in a calmer voice, "Please get out." And I did. She informed me never to come back, she did not care about my money.
So that's the owner. The food is good tho overpriced. The wraps I bought for $7 give years ago are now $13. My feeling at being banned? Abused.

Cons: Abusive owner, Overpriced, No phone service (most of the time)

With new name "Wholesome Cafe" as of January 2023.
Ordered a matcha latte and rice n bean bowl with all the toppings (minus cheese) and add on avocado. Asked for vegan matcha latte and the barista was happy to accommodate with rice/almond milk. Flavors were superb... the pinto beans are a family special recipe "Brazilian style" and the bowl had so much great flavor, it was a real surprise considering the feel of the place is almost more of a coffee/tea shop feel than a restaurant, to encounter such a fantastically flavored and wholesome bowl was an experience in excess of my expectations.
Barista Tatiana was super friendly and courteous and cared a lot about helping everyone who came in.
Don't miss this spot.
Pros: authentic courteous service, outstanding flavors, great coffee/tea shop atmosphere
Cons: nothing to dislike here.

We love this place! They are now open in a new location 1413 SR-89A in Cottonwood. Next door to the Goodwill in the plaza! Delicious hot drinks, tons of vegan and gluten free food options and açaí bowls! Highly recommend this cafe!!

Fresh vegan options - Edit
Fresh food that can be custom made. They even have apple cider vinegar and nutritional yeast. Had a wrap and a salad. Both were tasty. Would return to try more options. Wish they were open 2 or 3 hours longer to grab some dinner. There is a drive thru but I did not use it. Staff are friendly but weirded out if you wear a face mask during a pandemic. Even the customers stared. I guess that's when I knew I was in Arizona and things are different here.

They make everything in house so not only is it fresh, it’s completely custom. The owner used carrot pulp left over from carrot juice to make vegan tuna salad and let me try some before I ordered it. I used it as a custom topping for a salad so I ended up with a meal that wasn’t even on the menu - plus it was delicious! 10/10 would recommend for vegans and gluten free!

Every time I visit Cotton wood I always make sure I have time for this place. They serve the best smoothies I have ever had! Their wraps are amazing especially their Asian one, the sauce and portion ratio is on point. Must try their chocolate PB smoothie or Mint. Both so good!!

Read moreThe smoothies are tasty (had the coconut one- yummm) and also had an avocado hummus sandwich. Although a different kind of feel that your average sit down place vegan restaurant, it has character and certainly good flavors.

Great Spot for a Quick, Healthy Bite - Edit
I popped in here on a drive from Jerome to Sedona. I ordered a shake and a chocolate muffin and both were amazing! I'm wishing I had longer to visit so I could have enjoyed more from their menu. They even have a drive through! The staff were so nice, too, and chatted with me about my trip.

Healty in Cottonwood! - Edit
Just had 1.5 oz. "shots" and a chocolate muffin (luscious), for a mid-afternoon break, but had to add this place to the Happy Cow directory and will definitely be back soon for lunch to try the wraps and salads.
