Love the options, but I don't go anymore.

When I was a kid, I loved Whole Foods. The Whole Foods I'm reviewing used to be Wild Oats, which was a natural food store that I loved as well. When it was replaced, I still went to the Whole Foods here and on Sawmill just because it was a good place to get vegan grocery options. And I still to this day appreciate the options they have. I would still go if it was just for one thing.

Amazon.

Now, just as a general disclaimer, I don't want to get preachy about it just because I know that a lot of the times, they have the most affordable options, and I don't want to ignore the privilege that I have by being able to purposely avoid them and sometimes opt for a more expensive option just to avoid them. So please keep that in mind when reading what I have to say.

I cannot and will not back anything Amazon is a part of if it is possible. I understand that they own so many things and they are powering websites and servers I don't even know they do, so I'm sure I am not perfect at this. It breaks my heart that so many of these smaller brands that we once the face of sustainability (whole foods, seventh generation, etc.) are now owned by huge companies. And I understand that it's not just them. So many fast fashion brands and websites like Temu are creating demand for cheap product and are purposely putting themselves in the hole.

I won't get to into that in a simple Whole Food's review, but if you want to learn more about it, I suggest getting your hands on a book called "How to Resist Amazon and Why" by Danny Caine (he's friend's with Two Dollar Radio Headquarters here in Columbus). Also, Gittemarie Johansen, Shelbizleee, and The Simple Environmentalist all have many videos about it.

Again, I want to reiterate, I am not speaking to those who financially cannot afford to avoid all this. And it sucks that we live in a system that is against us this way. If you are able, there are so many wonderful independent grocers I've found in an effort to avoid Amazon/Whole Foods. Give back to your local economy, and buy second hand. By no means am I saying you need to completely avoid big box stores, that would be impossible for the average person. I still shop at Kroger and Meijer because that's what I can afford.

Thank you if you read all this, and again, hope I don't come off too preachy.

heaven

Whole foods to me are about as perfect as a grocery store can get. (I love going there and getting all different kinds of produce and other items)

Go to for plant-based groceries

One of the best places to find vegan specialty items. A bit expensive, though.

great groceries

Pleasant whole foods environment. Always have plenty of fresh vegetables and a great bulk section. They also just got an awesome fresh squeezed OJ machine that's incredible. Love it!

Whole Foods

Whole Foods is a decent place to find vegetarian and vegan foods. It is a little expensive, but usually the quality is good. They have a big salad bar and the ingredients for each item are usually listed. But beware! I've spend $16 on a single salad there (I believe it's around $8/lb). They almost always have vegan cupcakes and muffins at the bakery (these are not great. Pattycake is better). The deli has things like General Tso's "chicken". There is also often a small Indian buffet, which I've never tried. Of course, in the grocery section you can find specialty items like vegan cheese, yogurt and frozen desserts and there is a bulk foods section.

Fantastic Find!

This place is well worth the trip for brunch! It is tiny and located in a long strip of equally unimpressive shops, but the food is magnificent. Our brunch- with veggie sausage!- was absolutely perfect. It was crowed, as you would imagine a place this good would be, but so worth it once we took one bite of our pancakes. Light, fluffy, with clusters of blueberries- these were really exceptional. This place also offers really great juices! They had bakery items from pattycake (vegan bakery down the street) too. They were preparing soups when we left and they smelled amazing. The service is the one glitch here. They don't seem to designate tables to specific servers, but rather have some collective process of serving customers. Ideologically nice as that may be it means service is sporadic at best. I stared at the bottom of an empty coffee mug for far too long. They are too busy for an informal service plan to work.

Pros: fantastic food, pancakes

Cons: service is spotty, busy
