Staples and Treats - Edit
Whole Foods is a vegan paradise! They stock all my favorite vegan protein powders and even have a great selection of coconut probiotics, which are a staple in my fridge.

Whether I’m looking for staples or indulgent treats, Whole Foods never disappoints.
Pros: Many plant-based options, Frozen food vegan selection, Vegan supplements

Whole Foods - Edit
Sometimes they make questionable ethical choices, but you can find pretty much anything here, even the most obscure ingredients.
Read moreThe hot bar is also very good, I just wish they'd label what's vegan.

Great selection of vegan food - Edit
I was really impressed seeing their variety of vegan products! They offer fresh products and also vegan meat alternatives, vegan joghurts, plant based milks, snacks, sweets, beauty products... Huge store! Some products, like tempeh, I've seen for a lower price in a "normal" grocery store like metro, but a lot their vegan products I wasn't able to find somewhere else.

Like walking into heaven - Edit
I had an amazing experience at Whole Foods today. I was absolutely blown away by the ready to eat vegan options available, from a delicious slice of pizza to vegan mac and cheese to vegan chicken to mochi bites and DIY salads, I was completely overwhelmed in a good way!

An awesome addition to Ottawa! - Edit
As much as I strive and love to support both independent & Canadian businesses, I'm really happy to have Whole Foods in Ottawa, and like that there is a one-stop shop for all of my needs & wants • This may be something that those without specific dietary restrictions take for granted, but for many of us leading vegan, gluten-free lives, this store is a dream!
Read moreI've done a lot of price comparisons on all of my standard grocery items, as well, and have found little to no difference in most products, so can't help wondering if a lot of the complaints about prices aren't exaggerated • Whole Foods have also saved me a fortune on shipping costs for items I'd previously only been able to find online, so everything balances out nicely for me & I'm grateful!
All of that, and my friends & I love eating here, too!! It's a great meeting place and everyone can find something they love, including vegan mochi!!
My only hope would be that they add more gluten-free items to their hot & cold bar/buffet; that's it, though!
Pros: Huuuge selection of vegan + gluten-free products , Clean, well organized & nicely laid out, Awesome hot & cold bar/buffet
Cons: It'd be nice to find more gluten-free buffet items

Whole foods, the good, the bad, the sad - Edit
Let me start by saying most vegans probably rejoiced when they heard this place was opening up, and with good reason. This place is huge, and you can find delightful little must haves you didn’t even know you had to have. A reasonable amount of produce, though highly recommend the organic, as the standard is like any other store, with some of the fruit tasteless. The household product & beauty selection is impressive yet pricy.
Read moreBut now we get to why I don’t go often. They actually have a meat eating system, based on the ethical and humane practices. The lowest ranking being the least expensive with the “most humane” beinf out of the price range of 95% of the population. This has just left me speechless. So they are admitting that all the animals suffer and unwillingly give up their lives, but the kind of life they’ll have depends on how deep your pockets are? I’m sorry, but am I the only one who finds the fact that most aren’t bothered by this, barbaric? This just makes me too sad for words.
Pros: Good selection of vegan options, Good selection of gluten free options , Large variety of Household items
Cons: Much of it is pricey , Torture rating system , Amazon=way less stock, they do know it’s a store ?

okay - Edit
The hot bar rotates so some days it's definitely better than others. Most of the time they have General Tao's mock chicken bites, which are pretty tasty (occasionally they offer pizza slices with them as the vegan option which is surprisingly good!). The two issues I have are that there are things that could easily be veg/vegan that aren't (ie. soups always have chicken stock) and almost always items are mislabeled or missing labels in the hot bar. I think something gets pulled and they replace it with something else but leave the original sign, or just don't bring a new one.
Read morePros: fast, sometimes good stuff in hot bar
Cons: incorrect/missing labelling , expensive
