Classic Whole Foods

A classic Whole Foods. I was expecting more vegan fresh baked goods, but maybe I wasn't lucky!

Inadequate salad bar

The grocery section is pretty much the same as your standard Whole Foods, so I won't comment too much on that. The salad bar, however, was average at best. We came in the evening two days in a row. I just didn't see much that was vegan that also looked good or inviting. Many dish labels were also missing so I had no idea if they were safe. The whole operation felt unorganized. The location is great though, so that's that. This is a 2.5 rounded up to a 3.

Pros: location

Cons: salad bar

Great Vegan Grocery Options

I can't speak to their buffet, but the grocery section here is great! Most Whole Foods branded items will label Vegan/Vegetarian on the back of the product. Tons of vegan & vegetarian options in the freezer section, the canned meals, and even in the snack isle. Great selection of tofu and faux meats as well.

Pros: Faux Meat Selection, Vegan Freezer Meals

Cons: Expensive, Crowds

International buffet!

Plenty varieties for vegan. It's clean and well kept. Hot and cold food options available. Must try the seitan. The braised one. Typical wholefood dining area.

not much for vegans (breakfast)

Usually I don't write a review when I didn't enjoy my experience, but this is a chain and I was so disappointed! I went for breakfast, and the only thing that they had vegan was tofu scramble, sweet potatoes, and plantains. There was plain oatmeal made with water, but the steel cut oats had cream. The coffee? Had to wait for a while until it was ready (745am). And when it was ready, it was crowded and hard to prepare your coffee.
Also: No vegan desserts (exceptions: 1-2 cookies on a whole cookie wall; whole vegan apple pie). The grocery section downstairs had some vegan options, but I was looking for local products and ingredients and didn't find too much. I just always expect Whole Foods to have a variety of vegan options...

Pros: good location, different kinds of food for lunch upstairs, quick checkout

Cons: is there parking? (I walked but it didn't look lik, no variety for vegans. there's basically one thing, coffee area was crowded and there was no coffee

Lots of vegan choices in the salad bar

As another reviewer mentioned, this is a typical WF store. The ground floor does have a nicely stocked salad bar, with tempeh, tofu, soups and other vegan choices. So if in doubt for dinner and it's before 11pm, jump off the Metro at Foggy Bottom GWU, cross the street, and stay on the first floor rather than the basement. If you want something fancier, there's a Roti and a SweetGreen between the Metro escalators and the store.

Pros: Lots of vegan stuff in the salad bar, Very close to public transportation, College-area positive vibe

Cons: Regular Whole Paycheck

Meets expectation

Standard expectations of a Whole Foods Market location are met here. The layout is unique: walk in for flowers, bakery and prepared foods. Go downstairs for groceries. Pretty convenient split though!

If you need groceries and live close by or right off the Orange or Blue line- good choice. They have an array of produce and all standard veg items a big chain like Whole Foods should have. More people in this area may use the upstairs than downstairs though- great good options for a decent price. It's also great to know they know vegan!

Pros: Many options for groceries, Good prepared food choices, Right on the Metro

Cons: Grocery chain
