Good hot bar and salad bar

Updating this because the hot food and prepared foods has no vegan food rally anymore. The Mac n cheese is gone and no fake meat things . Prettt much only a salad bar. They used to have some vegan stuff in the prepared food glass by the pound but there’s only like 2 things now. The bakery has no vegan cake anymore, vegan donuts are gone. Idk what happened

Lots of vegan stuff at the food bar for a meal on the go. Lots of vegan products for groceries as well. The salad bar has a lot of fresh veggies and fruits. Lacks a vegan dressing though wish there was a vegan ranch or something out to use . Sometime I’ll just opt for hot bar food - the vegan Mac and cheese is exquisite! I just add a little salt and pepper and it hits the spot everytime!!

Great selection fresh and packaged

Bought a custom meal from Whole Foods' hot bar in the store.

Features their vegan versions of their mac & cheese, chimichurri meatballs, cabbage wedge, lemon rice, channa masala, fish fillet, and broccoli.

I took a bite of the meatballs and had a mini freak out thinking I took the meat version by accident somehow but they were actually that similar. Vegan mock meats has come a long way, highly recommend the meatballs or buying the 356 bag of them.

Tasty buffet

A friend and I found ourselves needing to kill some time and eat food near an event venue, and Whole Foods was right there. Mind you, I watched a food security documentary some months ago that included commentary on Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck) being the first major grocery store to return to Detroit. And about whether poor Detroiters can actually afford to shop there. With some skepticism, I walked through the doors looking for the salad/dinner bars. And... well... I'm not wealthy or poor, but the prices I saw weren't crazy out of my budget. My eyes were bigger than my stomach at the dinner/salad bar, so I probably could have saved myself a few dollars there by being more selective. All ingredients are clearly marked, with more than sufficient vegan options. I would love it if they made the butternut squash mashed potatoes vegan, as they smelled SOOO good.

There was no where to put the compostable clamshell containers except the regular trash. That defeats the purpose of them being compostable. If this had happened within an hour or so of my home, I would have taken it home and composted it there.

That said, "If it's inaccessible to the poor it's neither radical nor revolutionary."

Better for vegetarians/vegans than many WFs

A WF that seems to have a little more respect for vegans. The hot food/salad bar and deli selections are fairly standard WF options. They have a decent vegan pizza option, though. And, a real plus, they carry some Chicago Diner pastries and a nice selection of vegan desserts.

Pros: Close to QLine stop, Chicago Diner items., Nice selection of middle eastern foods in the deli

Cons: Not very creative hot foods bar

Options For Days

Not as pricey as you might think, and has so many options for any lifestyle. Its my favorite place to go grocery shopping.

Pros: Options, Sales, Friendliest People Ever

Cons: Produce Can Be Pricey, Bigger Parking Lot Needed
