Magic

I left the title from my last visit in 2008 when it was based on Geylang Road, and I believe it still stands true today. Back then, I thought it was a cut above most other places, and it still is.

We shared four dishes, each very different but all top-class. I wish I could braise beancurd like they do, and the eggplant was flash-fried to perfection—soft but crispy on the outside without feeling oily.

Most of the menu is vegan, and if you have limited time in Singapore, this is the place to try.

Excellent shiitake rendang and more

Whole Earth has been a favorite of ours for years, with some of the best plant-based versions of classic Peranakan cuisine and other healthy creative dishes. They specialize is creative use of mushrooms in dishes that traditionally would use meat.

Our two go-tos are the shiitake rendang (the healthiest rendang we’ve had anywhere, and one of the tastiest) and the “nutty buah keluak” (which is almost never made vegan elsewhere, and is prepared in the slow, traditional way here but without animal products). These dishes make it clear why Whole Earth keeps earning the Michelin Bib Gourmand every year.

Other faves include, the sambal kangkong (or sambal eggplant), and the ngor hiang. The olive rice is very good, too.

Most of the menu items are vegan, but there are a few that contain dairy, egg, or honey. The dairy and egg items are marked on the menu with a tiny icon of a milk bottle or egg (so small they’re easy to miss so watch closely for them), but honey is not marked so it is best to ask.

Note the monkey head mushroom dishes are not vegan and apparently can’t be made vegan because the monkey head mushrooms they use are already prepared with milk.

Reservations recommended during peak mealtimes.

Enjoy!

Decent vegetarian food

Ordered the olive rice, Penang rendang, and sambal king. A bit pricey, but everything was delicious!

We wanted to order the Enchanted Forest but was told that it was not vegan since the mushroom was prepared with egg.

Pros: Variety of flavors

Cons: Relatively expensive

Great food and a must try in Singapore!

If you want to find out about the traditional Singaporean food, then it’s a must visit place!

Pros: The Rendang is amazing and a must try!, The rice is a lot, a small can easily be for 3.

Amazing

Some of the nicest plant-based food I’ve ever had. Shared the two person meal and all the food brought out tasted great and was so interesting. It’s not cheap, but it’s a Michelin star restaurant so expected to be on the more expensive side. Despite this we only paid $88 SPD and then $14 for drinks - I had lemongrass which was lovely, and the lemon iced tea was great too

Pros: Lots of vegan , Varied options , Friendly staff

Cons: Expensive

Full of flavor!

First time trying Peranakan food & we enjoyed flavors we never tasted before. Had the crispy golden oats tofu, enchanted Forrest with monkey head mushrooms, brown rice & sour plum fizz drinks. Everything was delicious & my spouse doesn’t like spicy, so I got a side of sambal chili which was really good & spicy. Service was fantastic. Would go again to try other dishes.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Friendly service , Large portions

Cons: A little pricey , Recommend making a reservation

Whole Earth

I last ate at this restaurant in October 2019 and loved it. My only regret was not eating more food when I was there. Maybe I’ll have to change that this week while I’m in Singapore! See attached photo of the delicious food I had here.

An entire treat !

We walked into this place on a Friday night after 20:30 and were quickly seated. We were overwhelmed with the selection of vegan food and ordered way too much but no regrets. We had a crispy tofu dish, the yam, olive rice, some greens. Service was incredibly efficient. Food was fresh and delicious.

Why u should stop eating meat

Nice is the understatement word to use for their food. Cheap is not in their forte. The presentation of food is heartwarming. Their menu as I seen it... It's vegan already. Dont know why it's still branded as vegetarian.

Pros: Exceptional food, Makes u do not miss meat, Good staff

Cons: Priceyyyyyy

Great food @ Whole Earth

Whole Earth is Singapore first and only plant-based restaurant to be awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand for 5 years - 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021.

Preordered and took away some of their signature dishes on CNY eve for reunion:
1. Penang rendang, great, most recommended.

2. Sambal king - great, most recommended.

3. Thai sweet and sour delight - great, most recommended.

4. Yam ring - not bad, worth trying

5. Enchanted forest - great, most recommended.

6. Olive fried rice - ok, not bad.
