Excellent food and hospitality

These guys are not fully vegan but there are plenty of options - in a remote part of Argyll this fully deserves 5 stars imo - and you’ll always receive a warm welcome if this cool country pub wi rooms in the spectacular hills of the Cowal peninsula. The lunchtime soup and flatbreads wi salad are so good and a bargain. Highly recommended

Pros: Welcome, Food, Location

Very cosy pub with vegan dishes on the menu

We had a delicious meal there, a richly filled vegetable Wellington with peas and fries.
They didn't have vegan mayo in the house so luckily we had a squeeze bottle of vegan mayo in our handbag, the waiter was very curious about that. :-)
I was also curious about the dessert, which were three huge scoops of Salty Caramel Vegan Ice Cream & Custard, tasty but so much.

Pros: Tasty vegan dishes, Cosy atmosphere, Friendly staff

Lovely

Came here for lunch, there was a lunch platter which had 2 vegan options available as well as a soup which is always vegan. Food was fresh and delicious and came out very quickly.

Surprisingly large selection of vegan choices

Would never have expected to have so many vegan options at a rural pub! At least 4 main vegan options and two different vegan desserts. Staff were super helpful with small details like bringing us vegan 'butter' for our new potatoes. Their wine menu was also clearly labelled with vegan choices and they had an alcohol free wine on the menu, which is so unusual but super helpful addition. Definitely book ahead as they were full when I tried to go back again in the same week.

Hidden gem

Lovely country pub with a view of Loch Eck. They have a small menu but offer three vegan options on the main menu and two on the lunch menu. Dinners are all around £12-£13: five bean chilli, cauliflower dhansak curry, (optional with naan bread, non-vegan, we were offered a side salad instead; and filo pastry parcel with veg filling and a choice of boiled potatoes, mash or chips (not sure if mash was vegan I had chips). We ate here twice, once for dinner we had curry and the filo pastry parcel, we didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised, we liked it so much we returned the next day for lunch. Lunch menu is a choice of white or malted baguette with a selection of fillings, two were vegan: coronation chickpea and vegan cheese with chutney. These come with either chips, side salad or soup (not sure if soup was vegan). The baguettes were a good size and very filling, for £6.50 each, well worth it.

Pros: Very tasty and reasonably priced.

Cons: Out of the way, unless staying in cabins next door
