Unpleasant - Edit
We bought little savory totally flat & smelly, I have severe food poison. Cheese scone quality dropped, doesn't make any difference with supermarkets & hyperstore ready made scones. Earlier was best, granny bought me several times. Had bad experience previous day as with my friends. we were first in cafe in the morning, spent almost 300 NZD. Vegan breakfast spinach tiny & not properly mixed, rotten smell of mushroom. Benny sauce atrocious bad. Coffee good, service good. Lady generous & offer water without asking & refund when we asked receipt but we consider donate. Never ever recommends considering people's health. Be careful.

Great brunch food 🩷 - Edit
Great little café if you're passing through Levin. I had the vegan breakfast with extra hash browns and avocado, and my partner had the vegan T.L.A.T (tempeh, lettuce, avocado, tomato) sandwich with extra fries. Was so yummy with a coconut flat white 😊 would definitely come again if I was in the area. I'd say it was a little bit pricey especially when adding the extras to the mains etc, but overall I would recommend it 😊

Delicious vegan big brekky - Edit
The vegan big brekky was so yummy. Perfectly seasoned. I loved it. About $24. The cabinet food is clearly labeled for different dietary requirements incl vegan. I think there was 1 or 2 things in the cabinet but once I saw the menu with the brekky I stopped looking.

Great variety of vegan dishes. - Edit
Food, drinks & service are great. Vegan cabinet options as well as menu options. Filling & tasty vegan breakfasts & lunch - not currently open Fri after 5pm as was the case as listed. Free parking in a good service lane around the back - it runs parallel to the railway line and is accessed via Bath St. But parking meters are cheap as chips in Levin if you park on the main road, Oxford St - (SH 1).

So much vegan choice - Edit
I can’t remember the last time I went to non-vegan restaurant and had this much choice! My two daughters and I all chose something different and still didn’t exhaust the options ❤️ They were all delicious.

Amazing! - Edit
Great food and great vibe at this Levin institution. Vegan in 1984 as a husband and wife team, apparently the daughter brought vegan items to the menu after returning from university. Nice place to sit and watch locals and tourists alike laugh, talk, and chill. There are newspapers and kids toys.
Read moreThe vegan "Benedict" was spectacular, but it was a special and may not always be available. The TALT was a little light on the avocado and tempeh and subbed salad dressing for mayo, so was less impressive, but still good.
The cake slice (coconut) was one of the best cakes I've had, worldwide, hands down. Nice work folks!
There is outdoor seating but it is right next to the highway so the big trucks come by.
There is unmetered parking by the rose garden and there's a back entrance if you want to avoid the metered parking on the main street.
If you are driving past do not fail to stop and taste this delicious piece of Levin history!
Pros: Best cake ever, Lots of worthy vegan options, Great community vibe

What a find in Levin - Edit
Whispers is an institution in Levin and actually, not somewhere I would have thought would have such brilliant vegan options but they most certainly do. They have a few vegan baked goods in the cabinet (I had a very delicious peppermint chocolate slice) and they do a vegan big breakfast, nachos (with vegan cheese!), TLT (tempeh avo tomato sandwich) and a lasagne with a cashew cheesey sauce. I think there is also a burger too. Our barista was wearing a vegan t shirt and the staff were lovely. I felt right at home.

The Big Vegan Breakfast.... - Edit
This is a great cafe with a relaxed, casual vibe and plenty of room for the busy weekend brunch crowd on the Main street of Levin. We had the 'Big Vegan Breakfast'. A nice mixed grill of vege, and 'sausage' with toast &relish on the side - delicious. Blackboard menu items include vegan nachos, a BLAT, soups & smoothies. Vegan hot drink options too from the vegan barista.
Read moreAlso clearly labelled vegan desserts vary in the cabinet. Vegan staff working behind the counter are very helpful. Good prices and big portions. Well worth checking out if you're in Levin!
