Hit and Miss - Edit
I've been to two of these locations and had a wonderful experience at one and a bad experience at the other. The first time I went was for my sister's birthday brunch last year to Flat Iron Square. She received a free birthday mimosa, the service was quick, food delicious (I had the vegan Recovery pancakes which feature granola and apricot) and she had a great time.
Read moreTook my friends to the location in Fitzrovia last Sunday and had a very different experience. I ordered the vegan American pancakes (with maple syrup, blueberries and vegan bratwurst). Was asked if this was an allergy or a preference and said it was a preference. Another friend ordered the vegan American but with an egg (she's vegetarian). Food comes out and the vegan pancakes both had bacon on them. We explain we've ordered the vegan American and waitress explains she thought we just wanted the pancakes vegan, not the whole dish. I had, however, explicitly said vegan was my preference. She took them away and 10 mins later comes back with new pancakes...with halloumi on both and an egg with one. I explain that halloumi is not vegan and can I please have the vegan version of this dish. Mine go back, whilst my friend eats hers as it is now sans meat. Finally my 3rd lot of pancakes arrive with maple syrup and blueberries but they were quite dry and as another review has said not particularly pleasant. I don't think they were sweet enough by themselves and the dish would have benefitted from another accompaniment. If you're thinking, but wait- didn't it come with vegan bratwurst it did...10 mins after we'd all finish eating. Needless to say the vegan pancakes were comped on the bill so that was good, and I also had a very nice earl grey ice tea. But that was the only highlight of the visit, unfortunately. The waitress and the cooks could have been having an off day, but there are better pancake places in London so wouldn't recommend it. If you're desperate to try it then go to the Flat Iron location instead.

At first I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegan options (or options that could be made vegan) on the menu. I ordered “recovery” and was delighted by the toppings. There was a generous amount of each topping and they were delicious.
Read moreHowever, the vegan pancake batter is also the Gluten Free pancake batter. It tasted awful. My pancakes were a little raw and just so unpleasant. I have been to other pancake places that have a vegan/GF batter and it has not been a problem but these pancakes were foul. I hope they can improve this because their toppings were great and I would have loved to try more but I will not be returning because the pancakes themselves were ick.

Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing and the pancakes themselves were super fluffy. I had the vegan 'recovery' pancakes, so tasty with the peanut butter and maple syrup!
