AM Coffee bar > Starbucks - Edit
Wheatsville is excellent at all times of day for both vegans and non vegans. But I do want to do a shout out to their morning coffee and breakfast bar. They have a new cappuccino machine plus the the hot drip coffee (decaf and regular). They have all types of sweetener- even maple syrup (my favorite!). And dairy and non dairy creamer options. They have ready to grab tacos or you can have a quick taco made at the deli counter and grab your coffee while you wait! There are also an assortment of pastries. All of this is generally cheaper than Starbucks with better quality ingredients! No shade at Starbucks of course! I still go there as well, but Wheatsville is an awesome alternative .

The most vegan friendly - Edit
I find Wheatsville to be the best vegan friendly non-vegan grocery store in the Austin area. I love the plethora of locally grown and made food and the many fantastic vegan products to choose from

Grocery options are great- deli food, not so much. - Edit
Store has a lot of vegan options, which is fantastic. I ate at the deli and the food wasn’t too great. Very dry and lacked flavor. The fountain drinks are relatively small, which would be fine if you didn’t have to pay $1 for a refill. Considering the meal wasn’t amazing, a free refill would be appreciated haha

Popcorn Tofu and Deli options. - Edit
A good option if you need to pick up some grocery items and want to grab a quick bite at the same time. They have some good sand which items in the deli, they do a Seitan Ruben that is delicious. Usually lots of good options at the hot bar as well.

I love you Wheatsville. - Edit
The Wheatsville deli is like my third favorite restaurant in austin.
Read moreWheatsville still cooperatively makes the Red Rabbit doughnuts. They bought the recipes from the anarchist doughnut collective, red rabbit bakery, because even though Red Rabbit was the most supported vegan business ever in Austin, they went out of business because they could not manage themselves. 😂
Viva anarchist doughnuts! 🍩✊
Pros: Popcorn tofu poboy , Co-op! Everyone likes working and shopping there, Gather round lemme tell ya about anarchist donuts
Cons: Meat, All the 70s austin hippies-turned-yuppies

Wander in with wertfrei, a weighted wisket soon suggests a vegan welkin. - Edit
The Austin original, this location is perhaps not as quirky as Guadalupe.

The Drive is Worth It - Edit
I have to drive 45 minutes to get here, but it's always worth it. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and it feels like a business I can trust. I frequent Wheatsville since it's my mom's boyfriend's favorite place ever and it's the closest store to me that carries vegan cheese and veganaise. I absolutely adore this place.

Fried Tofu Sandwhich - Edit
The south location is a little more hip than the north one. Featuring a larger dining room, cooking demos, and a slightly expanded deli menu. The southern fried tofu Sandwhich is amazing! Love this store and the care they put into amazing vegan meals.

Some of my favorite food in Austin, great price - Edit
The food here alone is enough reason to visit--this kitchen could run as its own restaurant, for sure. Never have I ever been this excited for grocery store food. The popcorn tofu is the best, and they'll put it in anything. Burrito, sandwich, taco, beans and rice. It just makes everything better. I'm slowly working my way through the menu, and I haven't found anything I don't like. Really convenient to grab a sandwich and some salads from the cooler and head out for a picnic. They also have the popcorn tofu on take and bake pizza for 10 bucks. Get it.
Read moreThey have biscuits and gravy on the hot bar on Sundays, one of my favorite breakfast tacos in Austin, and vegan donuts on the weekends (use to have them all the time, but the Red Rabbit bakery went out of business). The vegan donuts are now done in house, and I like them just as much if not more the RR's.
The grocery store itself is okay, we usually pick up a few things here and there. It's certainly not our staple store, and it's a bit more expensive than others around. But, if there's a good sale, I'll grab some things.
Pros: AMAZING food, good breakfast tacos, Biscuits and gravy on the hot bar on Sun, Food is pretty reasonable price
Cons: Grocery store itself is a little meh, Grocery store is tad expensive
