Not very good vegan options - Edit
I love Fred’s hummus sandwich and partner really digs the carrot lox. They get props for also carrying a seasonal vegan special schmear.
Read moreEdit: unfortunately they no longer have the hummus bagel sandwich. It was my favorite. It seems to have been replaced with an avocado spread option. I will probably not come here anymore since the vegan lox at Ben and Esther’s is so much better. It’s a shame because Westman’s has superior bagels.
Edit: Since Ben and Esther’s closed I decided to give Westmans another try. They mark their menu online as having a vegan lox sandwich but in person it says it’s contains honey. So I got just a bagel and vegan scallion smear, (scallion is their current vegan seasonal), and it was completely flavorless, tasted like they smashed some tofu into paste and forget to ferment it. Even the scallions barely gave it any flavor. Do yourself a favor and BYO shmear for these bagels

Good bagels
Read moreUpdate: just learned their carrot lox contains honey despite being labeled vegan. Very disappointed by the fact that they didn't make this clear.

Good bagel, bad cream cheese - Edit
After the tragic loss of Ben & Esther’s, I continue my search for a place with suitable vegan bagel options. Westman’s is good in the bagel department, but not so good when it comes to their vegan (tofu-based) cream cheese.
Read moreFor $5.50 I get an admittedly small bagel with honestly a lacking amount of cream cheese. And I’m pretty surprised by the positive reviews here - I would prefer a basic storebought cream cheese like Tofutti compared to the somewhat grainy homemade one they have at Westman’s. Perhaps their other bagel sandwiches are better (but it didn’t look like there were too many vegan options). Also, they had no vegan seasonal cream cheese, so I was out of luck there!
There is almost no seating, so expect to get your bagels to-go! (But there are a couple of spots to sit around the area)
Pros: Knowledgeable about vegan options, Good bagels
Cons: Bad cream cheese, Limited options

They used to have good hummus but they don’t carry it anymore. I agree their vegan shmear is not very good.

Good Bagels - Edit
Bland Schmear. The carrot lox was excessively oily. But the bagels were crunchy, not chewy. Definitely worth stopping for.
Read morePretty good coffee as well. They serve Herkimer, but the beans were definitely not as burnt as Herkimer itself serves it.

Great Seattle Bagels, at last - Edit
We’ve been visiting Seattle, for years, unsuccessful in attempts to locate or enjoy a quality bagel establishment.
Read moreUntil now.
Westman’s Bagels and Coffee was quite the find. The coffee was excellent, better than some of the city’s coffee-only offerings.
We enjoyed every bite of our current cinnamon bagels filled with a tofu-dill-black pepper spread. We were stuffed for the rest of the day; suffice to say this option is ample.
Pros: Quality bagels, affordable by Seattle standards , Great service , Several vegan options

Good but not cheap! - Edit
Nice to have another breakfast place with more than one vegan option, but it doesn’t come cheap! Bagel with vegan cream cheese averages around $6.

Best Vegan Bagels, CreamCheese & Carrot Lox in Seattle! - Edit
I always loved bagels and tofutti at home until I went to NYC and was blown away by what a real bagel should taste like. I had a really hard time eating bagels in Seattle after that trip. THEN WESTMAN’S BAGELS OPENED! All the bagels are vegan, score! I’ve been eating at Westman’s weekly if not more since they opened in the spring of 2018. I have eaten there more times than I can count. At first they called their vegan cream cheese “Tofu Plain” or “Tofu Veggie” not to be confused with the ‘Veggie’ which was not vegan. I went today December 12th, 2018 and they now have the word Vegan on the menu! “Plain Vegan” or “Seasonal Vegan” They also usually have other vegan items if you just ask! The “Vegan Sandwich” is amazing, usually it’s a cream cheese, tomato, carrot Lox and some other goodies like a caper or dill sauce! You can always just ask for the Carrot Lox to be added to your bagel, which is my favorite thing to do. I have had Carrot Lox at multiple 100% vegan restaurants and I don’t know why by Westman’s is my favorite! On Friday’s they have a Challah Bread special which is vegan! I made french toast with it and it was incredible. They also sometimes have a bagel dog with a field roast dog and a spicy mustard for dipping. At first I thought getting a cold bagel dog was going to be weird but I loved it and it’s perfect for an on-the-go lunch.
Read morePros: Carrot Lox and other veggie topping options! , Multiple Vegan Cream Cheeses to choose from., All bagels are vegan. Challah bread on Fridays!
Cons: grabNgo but give yourself time to wait, busy! , Smelling bacon or eggs while waiting😒, Go early, they sell out often.

They didn't advertise it but when I went they had a special vegan lox bagel made from smoked carrots. It was DELICIOUS, I highly recommend asking for this when you're there!

Amazing tofu cream cheese!! - Edit
So happy to have a place like this in the neighborhood that offers delicious New York style bagels and two types of tofu cream cheese (plain and veggie!!) I get off work at 7 am and love to stop here on my way home to grab breakfast. Staff is super friendly! They also sell their cream cheese by the container so you can buy some to take home too (: however, this is a literal hole in the wall so there’s not really anywhere to sit, really just a grab and go place!!
